I love the fact that they all look like they were laying there for long periods of time after they've been slain... we have no idea just how long they've been there. to us and wander, this was mere hours ago, but to anyone outside... it could be months... years even...

It's obvious by the condition of the corpse that a lot of time passes in between the death of each colossus. It's quite possible that time stops for everything in the Forbidden Lands except the colossi. That could explain why the sun never changes it's position & also why only the corpse of the colossi seem to age, but Wander, Agro, & Mono don't show any signs aging.

@@somebodyfixmyinternet that is debatable, time flows differently in the forbidden lands, for all we know, the shaman is a stranger from many years after wander left his tribe. I think colossi are statues made of earth, plants and rocks animated by the fragment of Dormin's soul. When you absorb the soul, the colossi simply return to earth. That's why they have those platforms for you to climb on, they were used by sculptors to shape the colossi.

There is no game that can make you root for the villain quite like SotC. We all know Wander is, at the very least, a neutral character with no moral qualms against releasing ancient danger into the world, yet we root for him. And in the same breath, it obliges us realize the consequences of his actions, i.e. the sad song that accompanies each of the Colossus' defeat or Wander's own body twisting into Dormin. I believe that is better illustrated in the last Colossus fight: when Wander reaches up to it's hands, it won't be initially hostile and will even stare at Wander with curiosity. Meanwhile, Wander's disfigured form is hellbent on killing it. This game will forever be a classic.

I am of the opinion that if we think about it literally-that a great deal of time has passed-it doesn't make sense. Rather, I believe that it's more a symbolic message to those who go to look/ mourn the colossi. Agro and Wander do not age, nor does Mono decompose (though Dormin could be preserving her)... and also NOTHING else about the world changes but the colossi. So I don't think anything about time is what's happening. I think it's telling us that no matter what happens, life and nature will overcome and thrive.

This doesn’t feel just sad to me- I mean, yes it’s very sad, but that’s not the only thing I really feel. It feels like a monument, a contribution to the concept of time and moving on. Only the building parts of them remain visible, as if their living parts had already been freed, their souls released. What’s been done has been done, and there’s no changing that, but there’s no use in dwelling on it. Nature has accepted them back after their tortured and cursed existence had ended. This was their fate in the end, but it’s not necessarily a bad one. I didn’t explain it well, did I? Eh, I tried.

The music playing the backround really sends the feeling that killing these giants might have some consequences... like you cannot forget their every struggle they feel, every pain they endure, and screams of agony... All for a reward... the titans lay down on their final resting place to decay and be part of the ecosystem as a whole....

Just the fact that they took the time to create these colossal wrecks and made them look as if they had been there as long as all of the ruins is amazing. It’s like they were outside of time when animated but had hundreds of years happen to them in moments after Wander took their essence.

They barely look like what they were... Their live form, compared to their corpses, was something like what we might imagine when looking at clouds, and so might be for anyone seeing them in the future... perhaps that's all they ever were. We could think of them as some sort of illusion: magical beings sustained and held together by a single purpose. In the Forbidden Lands, after all, even memories are forbidden. No one except Agro witnessed Wander fight the Colossi. Wander himself lost his physiliological ability to retain any memories of what happened by becoming a newborn. Life goes on, his sacrifice is absolute, as only a true act of love can be.

I’ve always been curious how the colossi were made. I understand that part of it is magic of some sort, with the god’s power. But, what about the actual assembly of them? Were they crafted in sort of facility? Where the designers used tools to apply the intricate pattern of the stone each one had on their bodies. Or, were they bred from an ancient form of alchemy? Where they combine both stone and living tissue to create the colossi. And the god’s power was the source of their activation? 🧐🧐🧐

Doesn't matter if it's played on PS5 really, it's still a PS4 version game with the same PS4 limits. There's no version that takes any advantage of the PS5's new hardware capabilities. Sure the 30fps is stable but 30fps is all you get and the resolution is the exact same on the PS5 in all guality modes as the PS4. I really wish Bluepoint would release a framerate unlocked 4K version of this game, like Guerrilla games did for Zero Dawn. I know they can do it, just up the resolution and uncap the framerate. Idk why so many studios won't do it.
