Game Review & Impressions
---------------------------------------------------
Released in 1989, Shadow Dancer is the follow-up to Sega's ninja-themed run 'n gun platformer, Shinobi. The sequel sticks pretty close to the formula laid out in the original game, requiring players to shuriken a load of bad guys and disarm bombs left lying around each the game's levels, before facing off against an end-of-level boss.
The main difference this time around is the inclusion of a canine sidekick, which can be commanded to harass enemies, giving you a few precious seconds to deal with them, without fear if being shot in return. The mechanic works well enough, but I have to say, the game feels little bit repetitive, and not as much has really changed. It doesn't help that the artwork uses a pretty drab series of colour palettes, making the whole thing feel a little uninspiring.

That ninjitsu magic voice sample tho lol.
I have that game on my Amiga 500. It's as cool as the original Shinobi. 😺👍🕹️

Also the amiga port of Shadow Dancer is way better than the Shinobi one.

I remember vividly playing this on arcade as a kid! Live was even more incredible, the SEGA hardware was amazing for its time.
Sooo many coins spent as a kid 😄
A SEGA ,era MUITO avançada ao seu tempo. Enquanto muitos não conseguia fazer um 16 bits a altura.
Gotta say, the Genesis version blows this out of the water.

@@sombra8333 If i wanted silly story and plot i'd play a crappy modern game.
Love this game and shinobi thanks for posting this
This looked so much like Shinobi that I had to go research. I wasn't aware that Shinobi had arcade sequels.
Great run. Your playing style feels really "ninjaesque"
wow, classic
Yes one particular flavour. It is a very pleasant mix.
Good gaming !!!
This leads me to believe that the Challenger tragedy occurred because Shadow Dancer couldn't knock some ninja lady off the launch tower.
I played this game on Master System kkkkk How limited it was on that console kkkkk, only the ninja appeared in the screen.
Nice videogame man
2:53 holy shit man just summoned buddha

Its a decent game but probably one of the weakest in the Shinobi series.
