In less than 15 years as a national sprinter, C Kunalan came close not once but twice, to becoming the Fastest Man in Asia! But he had to settle for a top-3 podium finish instead. If it weren't for a fever, a burnt (bandaged) hand or even a botched start, his name would have been on several more gold medals, both at the regional and continental levels respectively.
His incredible fortitude, high threshold to withstand pain and a burning desire to succeed, have helped him to overcome obstacles and create new records.
