I believe the widely accepted theory is that there wasn't any time to even dwell on the nothingness of stasis. G-man put him in and before Gordon could even blink, 20 years went by.

I like how people have recently portrayed Gordon as an actual person with human emotions, rather as the stoic badass that everyone saw him as back in the day.

Beautiful music and wonderful setting of the shot where it is clear that Gordon Freeman literally was not given a chance, because there was only one desired answer. You can see how he silently makes ends meet, and in the end his time comes.

@@Jack-mz9jz the video itself was created under the impression of invulnerability, but in the original omnimen found his place on the planet he found and whose people saved from disaster.

It just hit me that from Gordon's perspective, he went from a train-car in the void to a train-car 20 years in the future. If I was Valve, I would've made HL2's opening train layout exactly the same as the one from HL1's end, meaning for Gordon the only change would be what's outside the windows.

Awesome. Gotta love how it's up to the community to tap into the potential of the world of Half-Life.

If we look at HL: Alyx(spoilers) we see something not considered. Time travel. Rather than be in stasis for 20 years, he was sent to various locations in different points in time. This would mean he would have aged normally but sent to the future on certain missions, like Lost Coast.

That’s…a terrifying thought. That would suggest that when Gordon woke up on the train entering City 17, he had, from his own perspective, only killed the Nihilanth 5 minutes beforehand.

According to the HL2 Beta that's exactly what happened. There's a cut map about Gordon's stasis where he experiences a bit of HL1 and HL2 at the same time on a loop, until the GMAN wakes him up.

Gordon with long hair? Also, I would like an animation of Gordon reacting to teleporting on the train at the start of half life 2.

My man just dropped a hell of an animation and people complaining about the models. The ponytail was just perfect, down to the last minute detail.

There's no denying it was a rude awakening for the poor Gordon.

So wild to think Gordon was in stasis just living through all of those images of the aftermath, then steps onto a train to see the words Point Insertion then Valve floating in front of him.

The transition to point insertion is such a great touch, man i love your animations I also adore when people depict hl1's events and areas in higher quality so that xen part was really really cool imo

when gordon was in orbit, was that an unintentional nod to 2001: a space odyssey?

I'm suddenly reminded of a comment a friend of mine made once in relation to how I drew mouths, that I had a thing for them. I know this is partly because I'm very used to Gordon's Source 2 model, but something about this model's mouth is a little bit weird, possibly his upper lip. The prominent inner corners of his mouth on the Source 2 model drive me up a wall, probably because the model itself is unfinished and a little bloodless there. His hair looks great. Get up real close to his face and his eyebrows kill me, though. i'm so nitpicky

I'm not sure if this is a reference to anything, but I love the subtext meaning at 1:32. Gordon looks tiny, like a speck of dust in space: at the same time, he's nothing but a pawn in a giant game of 5D Chess With Time Travel, a minor piece to be used and discarded. Imagine how Gordon must feel, so... insignificant... ...damn.
