Imho, i played Marisa a bit (at Diamond 5 rank) and from my experiences fighting a lot of Ken, i feel Marisa beat Ken in some area. Example she can used phalanx to bypass and punish Ken fireball and gladius / scutum armor to make Ken normals less scary. But Marisa can't do much if Ken cornered her because Ken corner game is really scary and Marisa doesn't have good tools to get off from the pressure outside drive reversal or wake up super lvl 2. And before you say i downplayed Ken, i'm a Ryu and Lily main who suffered a lot against Ken.

Of course she beats Ken in some areas, otherwise the fight will be lopsided. The question is not is she has tools in the matchup, she does. The question is when you compare the 2 toolsets, which one is more likely to come on top. This is what a matchup up. A 6-4 matchup doesn't mean the 4 has no tools and can't win. It means the 6 will have a overall edge. Marisa Phalanx is ok, but is a read on fireballs, gladius is good and armor is a risk. Marisa is weak against lows (upperbody armors) and Ken has the best low forward DR in the game. Marisa has no defense and Ken has the best corner carry/corner pressure in the game ca, Marisa has bad mobility and Ken clips you for instant corner. Ken also has a od dp to contest fake pressure, better anti airs, better neutral, fireballs, neutral skips. Etc etc. I'm also not downplaying Marisa. I did road to Master with all the characters I like and I did Marisa and Ken. Fun fact : of all my Master ranks, Ken is my highest winrate.

when you do low med kick or standing med kick, or whatever attach, are they going to always give you the same plus or neg frames against each character? for ex if you're minus 4 frames with a standing med against ken, will that be neg 4 frames against every character?

For the most part yes, but there are some weird character specific interactions usually based on those that have large character models, ie Zangief and Marissa.

Frame data is universal, if a move is -4 for you at a certain distance, then it is +4 for your opponent and vice versa, regardless of the opponent's character. You can watch some videos on frame data, they can explain better using visuals.

@nurannahadiislam7940 Frame data is universal but there does exist unique interactions that some characters oversized hurtboxes allow for some unique combos unique to that match up. They are rare but they do exist.

I mean I am no pro and I am sure you guys know better 22:26 if he did the safe jump to j.hp after the first Jinray hit, Mena would have been in burnout and checkmated.
