Seymour Duncan Tweak Fuzz Teardown! See what's inside!
Welcome back to the bench! Today's teardown is the Tweak Fuzz from Seymour Duncan, a modded fuzz face based on the original pedal by Dirty Boys Pedals, the Afro Fuzz. Enjoy!
Thank you all for an amazing 2023, this is the last video for the year. I'll see y'all in 2024!

I look forward to your Sunday videos Joe. Seasons greetings from Scotland.
Totally underrated pedal
I enjoy your videos and appreciate how thorough your inspection is. I build fuzzfaces with a very similar mod, and was actually finishing one up right as this video came on. I use a toggle switch to select between 2.2/0.47/.10 uf caps and so far players seem to like the 0.47 the best. I use the slightly lower gain 108Bs for silicon and it sounds fantastic in a mix. I also add resistors as well but the values are different. You’re right about this being an amazing platform for modding, I might have to pick a few up myself.
I love the fuzzface circuit. I never thought it had too much bass.
I love your videos! Great job! So informative!
I have 5 Tweak Fuzz pedals, 3 of them have been modified. Something to be careful of, the thru-hold pads for the transistors are not oriented for drop-in of alternate parts. Be sure to trace it out before you install different transistors. I had to do some fancy solder sculpturing to install BC183 transistors in one of mine.
Youve been an inspiration all year dude!! Keep it up in 2024!! If i ever end up in Philly, I need to buy you a drink (or yerba mate if yer edge lol)
I have the Seymor Duncan tremolo pedal. Enormous, but fantastic! Only use it for recording. Too big for a pedalboard.
thanks Joe. That's a sleeper of a pedal.
Very cool!!! I used to have one of these years ago and remember liking it ok, I had no idea it was basically the Afro fuzz!! Very cool and would be interesting to mod up…
Great pedal, it's basically a dirty boy but you can afford it.
I’m not sure you’d have the clearance under the daughter board to try the socket mod you mentioned. Thanks for your video.
Have you ever run into a Seymour Duncan pedal called a Twin Tube Mayhem, one of those might make for a good video. They look hella interesting to me for what is now a pretty old pedal. I'm in pawnshop search mode for one right now.
Have you done a tear down of an HBE Power Screamer? I have one and one of the diode settings is kind of spitty and not very usable. Not sure if it is supposed to be fuzz like? Just curious.
I wrote down the tweak capacitors values but what are the resistors values for each selector position? because each position is an RC roll off network
I know as soon as I sell mine, JHS will do a video on it and prices will 🚀.

They already did a video that included this pedal. It came out a year or two ago and was about pedals that should have been more popular. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c5yE2o-odM7Hn7Q.html
Two j201 or BC's in the circuit?
