Seymour Duncan p-rail 920D custom unboxing, Stratocater installation, and sound demo

I upgrade my grandad's American Standard with a custom loaded pickguard from 920D. Played through the nux mighty lite bt

0:00:38 Unboxing - How the 920D package arrived
0:01:52 Installation - Fretboard conditioning

I had them remove the volume position to suit my playing style better. I also rotated the neck pickup and liked the sound better.
If you dial in tones you'll get a much better result. I did it this way so you could hear the difference in the pickups.

    It sounds great on the Stratocaster. I think it would also look great on a Jazzmaster. 🎸👍

    I agree with Kenny Lee Johnson, your playing is just fine. Great demo, thank you for the clean sounds, what a great sounding and versatile setup, in each position. Overdrive settings were great as well, you picked good musical excerpts for the examples, really helps hear what they are good at.

    The results are amazing. Love the quick switch to rotate the neck pickup. I’d like a hotter tone with mine as well. These sound very cool with the Strat and will definitely be looking into them. Thanks for all the setup tips that went along with the swap. Also want to make sure to take care of my guitar if I plan to upgrade.

    Hi man! I jus bought the same pick ups and I'm thinking about installing it as you, with the Single coil of the neck on top. Whats the differnce, it's a brighter tone or it's about the dynamics? Cheers, great video!

    It is brighter, but I think it depends on what you want to do. At the neck I like to play on the rail pick up. However I have since dialed in great tones on all of the pickup combos.

    I would have gone with the triple shot too. Couldn't mount them on the pick guard. The prails are a little deep. The screws hit the bottom of the swimming pool cavity rout in my strat. Sorry, I don't have the measurements on me. Must be something on the site. Have managed to get much better sounds out of these after getting used to them and dialing my setup in. Good luck with the mustang, I reckon it'll be hot

    I'm sure they will sound amazing in a Tele too. But remember to rotate the neck pickup, like he did in this video. You might even rotate the bridge pickup as well, to maybe get a little better Telesound. I think that would be worth a try.

    Hey, Awesome! I enjoyed watching it! But how did you wire a Series Humbucker without any switch?? I can see your strat's switch is just a normal 5-way switch. But how did you wire to sound Series Humbucker?? I have p-rail as well in my fender strat's Bridge. I couldn't get a Series Humbucker. I can only get the sound Single Coil, P90, Parallel Humbucker.

    @coversauce4786

    Hi. Sorry, I should've explained that in the video. I have a 3 way switch and two push-pull pots. The tone pot activates the single coils, the volume the p90s, and both is parallel. The 3 way selects between bridge and neck

    Removing the volume knob at the top is huge. As is the one thing I hate about strats. Was that something you emailed them about when you ordered it?

  • @coversauce4786

    @coversauce4786

    Yeah man. The prails can be wired for two push pull pots. So I asked if they could take one tone out an shift the volume down. They had to order the pick guard but it's worth it 5 times over.

    This is a great demonstration. Not asking you to do this obviously, but what do you think the sound difference would be if you reversed the bridge pickup (like you did on the neck position)? I kind of like the aesthetics of each of the pickups being opposite position to each other.
