Please don't think that those back in the forties and fifties were sexist. Women back then proved they could most things a man can do. From welding to building engine and doing machining of parts for war planes. They also flew plane out to the fields from the factories in England during the war. One woman had the distinction of flying the most varied amount of planes from spitfire, to Lancaster bombers, all she had was a booklet for instruction on stall speeds take off parameters. It's not that women can't do a man's job, but the fact that most women don't find it rewarding enough to consider it. I'm retired and when I was working, I was a supervisor a plumbing firm. I had a small number of females ask for jobs and I never turned any down. I didn't tolerate anyone making stupid remarks towards them either. If they did their jobs to my standard, then I was happy, if they didn't they got fired, no different to a male. Just Sayin

I know many things that only men used to do is now also done by women. I am not questioning that. But some people would still prefer one over the other in some jobs. For instance, some people would prefer men to do home repairs, that is not saying women aren't capable cause I know they can. Its the customer preference that matters. This is also true the other way around. Many chefs and hair stylists are men (yes, even if they are gay, they are technically still men). So it can be any gender but the prefences lies with customer/client.

When her car broke down and I fixed it she was amazed. My husband’s truck didn’t work and he had to go teach. I told him I would take it to mechanic for him. I fixed battery cable and it started right up. He said mechanic was fast and I then told him I had fixed it. My brother told me I was too sensitive to join military. 27 years later, I asked him if I had proved myself. I'd rather work with a male, I can tell him to piss off. A male has to walk on eggshells around females because they can construe anything you say or do to be what it is not. It is called a feminine relative thinking process....If they think you are this or that...then you are that, whether you are or not.

Alex can be a girl's name; it can be short for Alexia, Alexandra, Alexandria, etc. I can almost relate to this; when I was a kid, kids teased me for liking video games and WWE; they told me that video games are for boys and that girls can't play video games or watch WWE. Also, when I studied Business at Tacoma Community College, a group of "plastics" girls teased me for love of NFL Seattle Seahawks; they looked at my authentic WILSON jersey and one said, "Eww!! Why tf you wearing that?!" her friend said, "Yea! NFL is only for boys!" Another friend said, "I'll bet you were born a boy and then had a sex change surgery!" and then them 3 pointed at me and laughed. Until a guy came up to us and told them to lay off. He said, "Hey hey hey! Lay off!" and then he asked me about what happened, and I told him, and he said to them, "WTF?! So what if she loves NFL? It's not just a guys' thing; girls can love it, too. And when you quickly assumed her gender by saying that she was born a boy, that makes you 3 transphobic; if she is a transgender (which she's not), then so what? What gives you 3 the right to bully people, huh?! So I suggest you 3 walk away now before I do something I'm gonna really regret later on," and then the girls scoffed and said, "Whatever freaks," and walked away. Then, the guy he asked me if I was ok, I nodded "Yes," and thanked him for standing up for me, and he told me, "No problem cuz I think it's pretty damn hot that a girl is into sports, video games, and whatnot; makes her really smart," and last thing he told me was to not to let what people say about me drag me down. And then he flirtatiously winked at me and walked away. I stood there surprised as if it was very first time anyone stood up for me like he did.

As a mechanic myself i have no problem with a woman working on my car. Women actually have a distinct advantage when it comes to new cars. I have slender hands, wich helps with tight spaces, but Women's hands are generally smaller, allowing them to reach places that I can't, and would probably have to buy a tool for.
