The Boko Haram conflict has unleashed a torrent of destruction, leaving countless families uprooted, their homes reduced to rubble, and their livelihoods shattered. Among the most vulnerable are women, bearing the brunt of this violence.
The scarcity of employment opportunities, coupled with the desperate need for survival, compels them into the murky depths of sex for survival.
In Nigeria, prostitution is considered illegal, yet for these women, it is their only means of survival. They face physical violence, emotional manipulation, and the constant fear of arrest by the police. The complicity of some members of the Nigerian Police force in the exploitation of these vulnerable women is a stark reminder of the systemic failures that have contributed to their suffering. Instead of protecting them, these individuals exploit their desperation for personal gain.
