Sewing a McCall's Angela Clayton 18th Century Pattern
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I sew an 18th Century inspired gown for my sister's Christmas present using an Angela Clayton McCall's pattern. I mostly followed the pattern, but not for the sleeves, as my sister wanted a different type of sleeve.

I thought the same thing! A saint!
That's incredible that you made such detailed costumes for all your family members! Beautiful dress! I've followed Angela Clayton for a long time, so I enjoyed watching someone make up one of her patterns! I own it but haven't made it yet!

Thank you! You should make it too! ♥️
Thank you for showing your process of making this. It was very helpful.
Don't sell yourself short on not having the budget for silk; Dupioni is a type of silk, it's just slubby, which means it doesn't cost as much. I love your color choice! I also have this pattern, so seeing it put together is great!

I don't think there's any shame in using synthetic fabrics, especially if silk isn't in the budget. When I use real silk I usually have either found it on sale or saved up for it.
I usually end up drafting my own patterns because commercial ones intimidate me, but you make this one look quite approachable! Well done~

Thanks! I had some moments of confusion, but it all worked out in the end.
I've never sewn clothes before but have always loved historical costuming as a concept. Previously I thought it was something I could never do... What with having a body that is overlooked by most patterns, but seeing your videos over cocovid has inspired me and given me the confidence to just get out there and try it. This pattern is my longish term goal to make work for me, it's a long way off but fingers cross I'll make it there ♥️

I just stumbled upon your channel and I'm very happy that I did!! Love your videos! Could you please note the videos with the name of the musical pieces? Thank you!

Thank you! I believe all the songs in this video came from the KZread music library.
Thank you so much for your video... To be honest I struggle starting my costume (I purchased that pattern too), because I don't have any sewing machine. But I can see that you use a lot your fingers to make it! Also about the petticoat pieces (number 12 and 12A), how do you cut them please? ( it looks so small on the pattern itself, but on the instructions it says apparently to cut a few pieces of the same "square", and afterwards to stich them together to get the whole petticoat (without the ruffle:)) am I right? Thank you for your help! 🌹 Ps: the choice of fabrics is absolutely elegant!

Yes, the petticoat is multiple panels.
Heya! I had a question about the fit - did you have any issues with it at all? I saw on the pattern photo that it’s quite low cut at the front so I’m struggling to think of what stays would be best as I wouldn’t want them poking out the top hehe!

I made a stays pattern from American Duchess for her. They work fine for her.
Love watching you sew, but please, please turn down that music, it is really annoying trying to hear you speack over the musice being louder than your voice, turn it way, way, way down, or better still no music at all. is even better.....!
