These is so underrated opinion joshua is very strong

For me it depends on what I'm eating and where, for something like soup or with broth I go to the food or just lift and bring the entire plate/bowl to my face. I rarely eat by picking up the food with my cutlery (e.g. fork) at a distance and _then_ bringing it to my mouth, unless it's a fancy restaurant/situation where it's more polite to keep your elbows off the surface and leave the plate on the table.
