This was a decent cover of "The day I tried to live", my favorite soundgarden song. Angel's Son is my favorite Sevendust song. Slaves & Bulldozers, Black Hole Sun, and Rust Cage are my other favorite soundgarden songs. If you listen to Temple of the dog, I'd say Say hello to heaven and hunger strike are absolute masterpieces.

In fact I don't feel it's underrated. Because I'm happy that he keeps enriching the Metal scene instead of addressing a broader audience with Pop music (which is often considered as "rated as deserved"). Lajon, Steve of The Urge, Corey of Living Colour, Jimmy of 24-7 Spyz, Dug of King's X...these people have so strong soulful voices and I'm so glad they are using them for Metal, Rock or as 90s people would say Crossover.

I so agree. Sevendust has never been noticed and it sickens me. They are an amazing band with songs that always grab your heart. I can't say enough good things about this band. But you know what.....They can stay underground I'm still gonna listen!!!

They did the song justice and paid mad respect to Soundgarden.

I love them and love his voice but I can’t do it all the time. I do sincerely wish they got more exposure though. Years ago I remember very surprised “ooos” and “ahs” coming from the DJs when I requested 7D one time. Like, if y’all enjoy them, fuckin play them??? Lol

He's always voiced his appreciation for the Bham,Al fans when ever I've seen the band live. Birmingham bein so close to Atlanta, they've played a ton of shows here. The whole band does really. Years ago I worked a Call Me No One show and got to chat with Morgan and Clint. So down to earth and cool. Just regular dudes. You'd never guess that secretly they're in one of the greatest bands of all time.

The passion at the climax of the song was lost IMO when he sings "should have stayed in bed"..but the sentiment was there and I don't think he wanted to dare try to match..so yeah damn near perfect.

I would love to hear this with Chris’ vocals playing lightly in the background when he say’s, “the day I triieeeed to livvvve!” R.I.P. Chris Cornell

@DM Kal Some try to do it in their spirit, or with their twist. Others think they just have a similar sound, and can make some money off it. Others will try to make it sound as identical as possible out of respect, or to try to do it better of ego. But yes. They absolutely killed it, RIP Chris!

In my home town about 10 years ago, the house over booked a Sevendust show and the Fire Marshall showed up and shutdown the show. People were totally bummed. Although this was NOT the bands fault, Sevendust honored each and every ticket and came back and played for free. That was such an honorable thing to do. I love these guys and this cover!

I can't think of another band that would attempt to cover such an amazing song and man they did it justice. Amazing cover for an amazing band.

Soundgarden is by far my favorite band of all time. This cover is amazing. Very well done!!!

It's amazing how some songs have such a deeper meaning with the gift of hindsight. Though the deaths of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington were shocking to me at the time, over time, I have realized that they shouldn't have been. Listening to their music with the gift of hindsight, I have realized both of them were begging for help, but unfortunately no one realized it or took them seriously. Listening to this song today is so jarring, though I didn't understand the meaning of it when i first heard it. The truth is that you never know what is truly going on in someone's head. You never know how their life experiences affect their perception of reality. Both of these men had everything , yet felt that they had nothing to live for. I wish someone had truly listened to them. RIP

Awesome! I remember seeing them on a side stage in Texas back in the 90's (maybe early 00's 🤷‍♂️) There were less than 10 people standing around. I came out for merch, and stopped to listen. I didn't leave until they were done. I fist bumped Lajon during a song break and told them I thought they were great. Ha. Later on they became a thing. Well deserved. Hard working nice guys. 🤙

There are only two things that could have happened here. This could have fallen flat on it's face. Resulting in lots of negativity. Or. Or what happened. The respect Sevendust gave this.

Sevendust = Legends. Find me another band that has as many records as 7Dust does with song after song you enjoy listening to. Almost every song on every album I still listen to. I can only think of a couple that I skip when they come on. Just an amazing band, with an amazing singer who can also cover Chris m’fin Cornell and pull it off.

They are the hardest working band with killer songs, but criminally overlooked. I might have to go back through my guitar rags but I can't recall them being in print much. Cold Day Memory is easily one of the best metal albums, but neither it nor any 7D album ever gets on anyone's top lists in the mainstream. One of rock/metal's best vocalists.

Wow, I am impressed. Chris Cornell has such a fantastic voice but this dude does a phenomenal job. He isn't try to sound like Chris but his voice just works so well for this song. It is so well done and respectful, I am not familiar with band but I like what they did. 👍👍

As a Chris Cornell superfan, I appreciate this band and their cover. As no human could possibly recreate Cornell’s vocals, this take on it is special and unique in it’s own. Rock on 🤘

Nothing gives me greater pleasure this evening to read all the wonderful comments and listen to such an amazing cover of a great song by an amazing band. Here I was with my Guild in hand trying to recall the crazy tuning for Angles Son and then I come across this. I'm so glad the Sevendust is still pumping. They sound better then ever!

How awesome is this??!! Astounding cover of my fav Soundgarden song, just what my heart needed. Several levels of epicness here...huge respect to Sevendust for transposing the key several steps lower than the original but losing none of it’s vitality 🤘🤘👏👏
