I've just started watching you a couple weeks ago, off and on. Finally subbed to you yesterday. 👍🌞🙏💛☯️🌞
Song is about the singer for the band Snot. He died in 1998 and was a beloved member of the metal/punk/alt community. There's a compilation album that was recorded in his dedication featuring a lot of famous metal artists, and this track was one of them. RIP Lynn Strait.

Divided with Brandon from Incubus is awesome to.
Sevendust doesn't get enough respect. The Sevendust Family is amazing and the band is amazing!🤘🤘🤘🤘
"Denial" was their big hit back in the day. It hits super hard. My sister downloaded this (Angel's Son) back in the Napster days and I think I've had a copy of it stored somewhere ever since.
I had the privilege and honor of seeing this song live right before Lajon walked backstage for a phone call and found out his father in law had passed away. Came right back on stage and sang this song. So emotional and such a great song.
They're known for having bangers. This is their biggest hit song in public.
Angels Son is a true heart strings song … the first time I Saw Sevendust live .. grown men in the mosh pit found dirt in there eyes after a very emotional acoustic performance… it is a time and place song … one day Polo it might find your heart strings
One of the greatest live bands ever.
“Denial” and “Waffle” will get you back on the let’s break things bandwagon … ring foot down radio knob up 😊
I tear up everytime I hear this song.. Actually loved the old video that was for this song- was of many people from different bands meeting on the beach around a bonfire to say bye to Lynn.. loved listening to the band Snot- Lynn Strait.. They had some fun songs you should check out too- Snot, I Just Lie, Stooped, Get Some.. Too bad you thought it was sappy- hits different when you know who he is singing about.. but thank you for the reactions..

Definitely, that is a completely different recording, this was their album release version. The original, acoustic version is far better in my opinion.

Same. Waffle and that whole album was great!
Don't sweat it man... We're all here for your honest reactions. Fair enough Polo
Sevendust is known for a heavy, powerful, and distinct sound. This was the wrong song to still introduce you to this band. Almost any song off of their first album is a BANGER, but I would recommend either "Too Close to Hate" or " Bitch" for your next listen. You won't be disappointed. 🤘🤘
I saw these guys live in the late 2000s on a hot ass August day in Council Bluffs, IA. Lajon opened the song with a tribute to Lynn saying that "he is with us right now y'all!" For that one song, on this scorching hot day, a cloud rolled in and it lightly rained. Cool, refreshing rain on a crowd of 20000+ during just this song. A tribute to Lynn Straight that I will never forget...
Love your honesty! And btw, most Sevendust songs will hit you in the face like the first reaction you did to them.
My favorites (off the top anyway) are My Ruin (off the same album as Black) and "Beautiful". They have a pretty large catalogue so you'll get a mix of amazing amongst the average, but overall they're great. They're one of those bands you appreciate even more after seeing live. I saw them in Dallas at the house of blues at one of their first concerts back after the rona and the emotions were insane - almost the whole crowd was in tears during this song after they re-dedicated it to everyone who was lost during the pandemic.
Respect for the honest take. Waffle is by far my favorite Sevendust song! 🤘
Praise, denial, rumble fish, splinter, enemy, face to face, pieces, suffer, all heavy song from sevendust
For some great Sevendust hit Denial, Waffle, T.O.A.B., Praise, Rumble Fish!
Slloooooowww cry going on for this one!! Next week monday marks the anniversary of my dead best friend!! Thanks for the video!! Drama free love!!
Agreed. Any track from home is what youll want.
Man, this song still hits me in the feels. They closed with it when I saw them around 2002.
Thank you for doing more SEVENDUST!🔥 Feel free to explore more anytime!
R.I.P. James Lynn Straight and Dobbs. I was 16 years old. Their vibe was so bad ass. You need to listen to Snot now. 😂
I still dont understand why people suggest these, deep-ish tracks for a rookie to review, there are at least 30 songs I'd suggest before this one, not that this song is bad, it's just not something you jump in with.
Let's GOOOO! Do "denial".
When you watch a video of Snot and see the love he had around him? 😢❤ RIP Lynn Strait. Drunk Driver killed him and his boxer in 97-98. Man we was free then. I feel for this young generation, caught up in the drama with so little time. ✌️
I love your honesty, man. So very appreciated.
Snot is one of my al time favorite bands R.I.P LYNN
I first seen & met this band with an old friend of mine when attend huge car show in Charlotte, N.C when they released their 2nd album.
In the early 2000's my cousin died in a car crash. This song was the pin in my memory for him.
Ok you deserve a sub for not liking this song. I really really dig this song and it’s message. Everyone’s taste is different and no one likes every song they hear. This is the problem w nearly all music reaction videos-the reaction is always very positive and they love the song just like they did the other 300 songs. Bunch of fakers lying and pandering to boost their channels. Of all songs for you to say you didn’t like it, this would be the wrong one if you were insincere for a token dislike. That adds to the authenticity of your reaction. I appreciate your honesty, tact and respectfulness here. Thank you.
This might be Lajon's greatest vocal performance. I've loved this song for almost a quarter century and it's on my favorite 7D album, Animosity. There are so many great live acoustic versions of this on KZread and if I'm alone in the car I will sing the living fuck out of this.
I remember a different video though, they were on a beach around a fire at night. And I think I remember the silhouette of the musician it was in honor of.
Great song and very emotional tune for the band of course
"Enemy" "Gone" "Decay" "All I See is War"
I like the OG version before Sevendust made it like "their song" i mean it's still the same song just a tiny bit different PLUS the video of the OG is Awesome RIP Lynn Strait .. PLEASE check out the OG video
Sevendust - Home. That'll get you back on track Polo. Trust.
Definitely the song my ruin by sevendust is awesome
I worked for Sevendust back then. Morgan’s Tech. The night we got news of Lynn’s passing was one of the worst you can imagine. I don’t know how the guys got through the set. The Snot guys were super close. Bless Lynn and Dobbs!
This song really hits hard for those who have lost someone close!!! 7DUST met Snot here in Denver. And evry time they play here, they do this one. And every time Lejon has tears running down his face!! You should check out the Beach scene version!!
Death Star🤘👊 killer track by Sevendust
His voice is so wild oh my jeeze.
Man, I've been a fan of this band when they were still calling themselves "Crawlspace" and I tell you now...if you want Sevendust songs that you will want to bang your head to while driving, you owe it to yourself to listen to these songs based on your preferences of build-up, pace, vibe, etc: Shine...Splinter...Memory/Faithless (first briefly builds and intros into the second)...Decay... There are so many good songs but these I would recommend above others for you and I'm confident you'll have a great time. Salud!
I've always have had much love and respect for this band and it's members. They're just flat incredible!💯🙏💛☯️🌞
The "straight up" album version of this song, I feel hits Harder than their own studio version. It's just more gritty and raw.
Love your honesty Polo ❤. Listen to the song trust!
Its the tune that you listen to if your listening to the whole thing but never deliberately speak it out to play
I think it gets better the more you listen. But to each their own.
Just a heads up this song is more poppy than most of there songs. Your initial reaction to Sevendust is what you will hear in most of there songs.
I have always been a fan, saw them back in 2000 I think, man I feel old, they look so young! This song took on new meaning when I lost my G-Lady, and it has helped with other losses through the years.
This has been my funeral song since day 1. Always hits me right in the feels, one of the most emotional songs ive ever heard
So good. So so good.
Underrated band
The "Beach" version of this video is waaay more poetic and powerful.
Such a beautiful song and tribute to a lost friend. Still makes me cry every time.
To get the most effect out of this you should listen to the original "Straight Up" version. It was made with Sonny Mayo of the band Snot, as part of a memorial album for their lead singer who had just died in a car crash. The video is a lot more emotional, featuring all their friends holding a beach memorial for him. Also the guitars are a tiny bit heavier which I think gives a bit more impact.

Thank you for this, I thought I gaslit myself thinking this version wasn't the one I remember from when I was a kid.
The song Bitch or Terminator from the first album is amazing. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
My favorite Sevendust song is "Trust". You should review it. Amazing tune
This song brings me back to days spent with my best friend, who is no longer a part of this world... But memories, and his daughter remain.
Another great Sevendust song, I'm going to see Sevendust for the 3rd time this Saturday.
I have a friend who is a drummer and he told me he read an interview where this drummer said his doctor informed him that every show he plays is equivalent to a 35 MPH car crash, because of how hard he hits. He's had numerous surgeries over his career to remove bone spurs from his heels. Bro is a machine gun but it's a tank on the kick drum.
I remember buying this CD. It’s really good. From Corey from Slipknot to System of a Down singer Serj.
Saw them at Speaking Rock in El Paso, Texas, several years ago. His wife's grandfather died during that show. He dedicated this song to him...
To close to hate, Bitch, Denial and Waffle were bangers by them and worth reviewing each one.
This was a awesome song when it came out and still is 7 dust never got the recognition they should have
Sevendust also known for their Atlanta Falcons love and they have a song and video called Falcons on Top. used to always put it on before games to get pumped up .
Listen to the band Straight Line Stitch. Alexis Brown is a rock goddess.
Great honest reaction…I’d agree…but “Bitch” is a choice especially for the 4Runner!
One of my favorite tracks from Sevendust is "Risen". It's a track that immediately kicks you in the face with energy and is a great track for blasting in the truck while driving around with the sub under my seat :) You'll probably like it man!
RIP Lynn Strait!
Denial ...or my favorite ...FACE TO FACE !! super under rated band love them
"How can I give a review for this and still be respectful?" Proceeds to laugh and joke about his review and call it "sappy."
I gave you a like, even tho I was bit disappointed you didn't like the song all that much ❤ Keep being awesome
I’ve seen a few people mention it, but Denial is more along the lines of the sound you enjoyed
Polo I am surprised you're not more of a fan of this song, but to each their own of course. I would like to recommend, yet again, a band called Parkway Drive from New Zealand. They are just out of high school kids singing about their heritage and the indigenous people of New Zealand the Māori. I think you will enjoy it without question.

I am so sorry...i said Parkway Drive and meant Alien Weaponry. I was between posts and made a horrid mistake my apologies
TOP 5 Recommendations for 7Dust 1.Denial 2. Bender (feat Chino) 3. Follow .4 Decay 5.Licking Cream
I remember sevendust use to have a set of twins groupie chick's that were at every show
RIP LYNN STRAIT!!!!!
The bon fire video is more touching. There is actually an entire album of group’s working together called straight up in tribute for the snot singer.
Sorrow by Sevendust ft Myles Kennedy. Softer song but the vocals from Myles (man can hit the long higher notes, singer in Alter Bridge) are impressive. They're touring together right now Other amazing tracks from 7D Waffle Face to face Bender ft Chino(Deftones) Enemy Suffocate
RIP Lynn and Dobbs
I don’t know if you’re already covered it, but my favorite Sevendust song is waffle
They JUST dropped a new track a week ago!! It’s called “Everything” 🖤 This songs meaningful af.
yep
Another hard hitting song is Praise, more in the style of Denial .
Honest reaction appreciated... now check out "Denial" or "Waffle" from Sevendust next.... peace.
Waffle .. Face to Face .. Denial. That’s where you’ll find the vibe and energy you felt in Black 👍
To truly appreciate this song you would have to understand what James Lynn Strait did in his short time on this earth. Who he was to those who knew him. Why they wrote this song. Why so many big artists were in the video. What he and his band Snot were pioneering in the early 2000's was something special. I truly believe that his death set music back and we're just in recent years getting to where it could have been.
Saw that one coming. lol
Hope you can get to my April 5th dono requests. One of the songs I listed was Sevendust Denial. Think you will love that one.
Sevendust Waffle it's where it's at
Denial ,the skeleton song, seasons are good songs
No hate on Angels Son but not what Sevendust best imo.

It’s only Lajon with the boys from Snot. At least originally. It does sound like it’s been redone.
I recommend Bitch, Trust, Crucified, and Shine. Or if you ever do an album review, Animosity is their third album and one of my favorite albums, period.
good stuff love sevendust! Check out Spirits by Nothing more
You definitely need to checkout Past with Daughtry
I'm poor, can't pay for a reaction. I'm still gonna request "Licking cream. "
the other video on the beach, it went with the tribute album, if you know the back story that one will kick your a$$
DEATHSTAR!!!
