Setting your Flex Max for Lithium
Since there is no lithium settings on these controllers. I believe this is the next best way to set the controller. For most lithium batteries including lithium oxide or iron phosphate . Absorbing and float is not needed. Only a bulk charge until your voltage setpoint is reached. No hold charge is needed. Hope this helps . Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy #lithiumsolar,#fmsettings,#frankz

Thank you, swapping my old lead system for lithium this weekend and this is just what I wanted to know.
Good to know I’ve got a flexmax I’m going to put on my Tesla’s come spring , thanks for the info sir
Thanks again that will certainly help
Excellent video...
Wonderful.
Awesome thank you I'm still looking at a couple of weeks before this charge controller gets here so as not to waste your time I think I better wait till I get it here thank you
Nice don't forget to set the temperature compensation to zero as it overides the maximum voltage.
Yeah that would be awesome
Thats alot of cells,,crazy amount maken power !
I've done a grid tie solar arrangement on the house but I'm wanting to do off grid somewhere else I've got tesla battery and solar panels wind turbine 6000 W inverter and an outback charge controller on the way but not real sure on how to program that outback charge controller for the Tesla battery
Great information Frank. What is the maximum voltage per cell with your lithium Chemistry? Mine is 4.2 per cell but I only charge to 4.05 per cell. Which BMS are you using? It looks very nice. Snow here the next couple days.

My cells are LiFePo4. Max charge 3.6v and i go to about 3.525v. This chemistry is more similar to lead acid. But with incredible power

what's the different if i set the AUX on ON or Auto mode or OFF?? please answer, thank you

there is a aux port that can be used. unless you are using that port it doesnt matter if it is on,off or auto. Thanks for watching
Yes I'm working on the battery balancing system I have the first part here then I've got to order another part shipped from I believe it was Ukraine 40 bucks or something like that

So I'm very interested to convert to lithium batteries but outback said I'd have to go with A G M cause my outback inverter with flex max 60 wouldn't charge lithium?? Now I see your video and why would outback tell me this to try to sell me AGM??

It will charge just fine but will not communicate with the bms in the battery. Lithium Iron Phosphate is the most suitable voltage wise. They said to be safer the other lithium chemistries.. There is a few downsides to lithium as well. Just depends on your application. Cheers
Do you have the math for 24 V system sorry I hate to ask

I like to help but i dont like to be taken advantage of. All questions are welcome. Except 1. The address of my battery spot.
I am using a six sale tesla battery

4.1v x 6 s= 24.6v
I don’t see the point of rebulking the current will increase as the voltage decreases? All you’re doing is putting it through the motions of absorption again I’m not sure I’m following

Just my preference. I dont want to float and I dont want the bank to stay at full voltage. It does mini cycles. I found it kept my bank more in balance. Thanks for watching
Tesla battery is kind of an odd battery a lot of guys are using them and their solar arrangements I am just setting up a system and trying to learn all I can

Most of the tesla packs use lithium cobalt mix. I believe. The max charge 1 cell group can handle is 4.2 vdc per. You also need to know the series connection of the pack. Ex. 6s 7s. Some are different. Most people charge them to 4.1 v per cell group to be safe. You multiply 4.1v x the number of sereised groups in the pack. 4.1 x 6 = 24.6vdc. If this is the case then set the controller to 24.6v for your absorb. Ive been told not to hold that voltage but cut the current when the set voltage is reached. Thats a full charge. Hope this helps. Cheers

In my opinion the chemistry you have there in those packs is the best but make sure you use a bms with cell level cut off. It is a flammable battery.
You seem to really know what's going on so I thought I would ask you I hope I'm not inconvenience you in anyway
