Hi Guys!
Welcome back to my channel! This week I've been swatching out all my tube watercolours and decidng which ones to put into the pink Meeden tin that I showed you on my last haul video. It was quite hard to decide and narrow it down to 48 colours but I did it! In this video I show you how I sorted them all out and made my decisions. I talk about my aims for this palette and how I want to use it alongside my current Schmincke set rather than to replace it so I hope you enjoy the video and find it interesting or useful.
Have a great week
Sarah 🌺

I always love watching others plan and fill palettes! I don't do more than 18-20 colour palettes myself as too many colours in one palette overwhelms me, but I do love seeing them set up!

I really love your selection of colors. I specifically liked the blues! I usually paint a lot of plants, and flowers so I spend a long time trying to pick the most unique pinks, violets, and purples. Anyway, this was a very interesting video. I can't wait to see you use this in your future vids!

Sounds like you should buy that new Julie Collins 3000 color mixing book ... 3000 recipes for colours in there 🤗🤗🤗 I have it on my wishlist to buy next week.... since I’ve already bought 10 watercolor books this week 😂😂😂

That's was soo satisfying to see you build all those colors and brands into one palette.. 😍 I see you used Silver Black velevet brush, but in the closing clip it was Daler and Rowney aquafine. Can you confirm on this confusion pls 👍

I always enjoy watching artists set up their new palettes and paint choices are so personal! Have you ever tried DaVinci Paints? It is a California company and I have found them to be just about as perfect as one line of paints can be. I came back to watercolors using Mijello paints because of the customer service and luminosity of the paints just blew me away! I tried many brands coming back, I had to take a digital detour to keep working as an artist in the late 90's. I was surprised by DaVinci after watching a video by Denise Soden (In Liquid Color) here on KZread. I just had to try them and I am a convert! Would you ever try them? I look forward to seeing you create Art with your new palette! Til then have a lovely day!

Hey! I've never tried Davinci paints but aside from ordering them directly from the manufacturers, there is nowhere over here in the UK that sells them. I have had my eye on Denise Soden's palette for ages but just can't bring myself to pay so much in shipping! Have a great week! 😊🤗

I’m LOVING your color choices! I feel like they are so on par with what I would chose next time I make a new palette. How do you enjoy the qor and mijelo paints? I currently use a combo of schminke and daniel smith with a few Windsor and Newton.... but I love trying new things

Hello~ The Art Hive. I am ARTOY 😊 Through this drawing, I was able to access your KZread channel and watch more drawing. Your work is unique, and the soft and intense image has been a great impression on me. Although I live in a different country from you, I was very happy to have access to the history and culture of different countries through you. I hope to see more works by great artists like you. If your country also has a community site where you can see drawing of other artists, can you teach me that site? I hope to learn more about culture and art through the site and promote my paintings so that more people can share cultural exchanges. 😊 😊

Hi! I was really looking forward to this video--thanks for doing it. I'm not brave enough to go for such a large palette yet and this was inspiring. Two questions: does the Sennelier Forest Green fade a lot for you? I love that color but have been surprised by how much it faded on one of my swatch cards. And, I haven't delved into WN because I heard they're difficult to rewet when poured into pans but you showed some very pretty colors I'd like to try. Has that been your experience as well? Thanks again😀

Thank you Cheralynn! It was quite a mission but it was a good excuse to swatch out all my paints! I haven't had the forest green fade at all but I have only used it in my sketchbook- not sure if that's made a difference? Will have to keep you posted on that one! Also haven't noticed any particular problem with Winsor and Newton paints re wetting once dry but with all the winsor and newton watercolours in this set I will find out soon enough! Have a great week 😊🤗

The Art Hive I wonder why so many people have reported problems with resetting WNs?! Guess that's still to be determined, then. Your video reminded me I want to add Buff Titanium and Moonglow to my palette. Thanks again for the inspiring video!

  • @dees3179

    @dees3179

It’s because they are not designed to rewet, that’s what their half pans are for. You can get round this by using a drop of glycerin mixed in before drying. Some pigments will still be a problem, viridian, opera rose and Davys grey are all difficult regardless.

My current addiction is sennelier's transparent brown and agreed, moonglow is awesome I like it for painting nighttime scenes or early morning dew. The green euh Problem I can relate too as I probably have way to many. My husband: why so many. Eh not like I use them all at once, but what can I say: I just have a happy problem :P

This was so fun to watch! Loved it! Are you certain your Winser & Newton Indian Red is PB25? Because My own Winser & Newton Indian Red is PR101. It's made from synthetic iron oxide. It states this in the color index for W&N as well. PB means pigment blue. PR means pigment red. Thanks for sharing! I have that pink palette and haven't decided what to put in it yet.

Thank you Renee! I just went and checked my Indian red- the writing is so tiny on the tube and you're tight, it's not PB25! My apologies! This is actually Indian red deep and the pigment is PBr25! I should have realised but didn't -so thank you for spotting my mistake 😊
