Used to own a static caravan as a holiday home . I’d recommend for winter you get a little dehumidifier as you’ve no central heating it can get quite damp . Crystal dehumidifiers as well place in your wardrobes. Also when the frosts start make sure you always have some bottled water handy in case pipes freeze overnight .

Thanks for the tips Shirley
I had a Three mobile broadband modem for about four years. I was contracting all around the UK, staying in hotels, B&B's, rooms in houses etc, and it was brilliant. You can even take them out of the UK. I paid £23 a month rolling, as in no fixed contract time. Very good way to have access to the internet, and cheap.

Another option for the internet in a static, is use your mobile phone. Most mobile contracts or pay as you go sims come with masses of data. Simply share your device via bluetooth or USB cable.

Great stuff Thank you Paul
Thanks Ivan, that looks like a great deal. I know that a lot of live aboard boaters use similar systems. Take care and all the best. Stevie

Awesome! Thank you!
Brought a static caravan September 2023. Brought a 4G router on Ebay (Huawei). Our site has a 4G mast on the road outside the site. Not 5G yet. Then got a Smarty Sim card unlimited Data for £20 a month, pay as you go, as we don't use the caravan in the winter. I agree with you about the metal can effect, I think its a Faraday cage, and put the router in the window, to do a speed test. Sure enough it was better in the window. However the sun came up and the router got hot, not good. Unfortunately the sun and the 4G mast are in the same direction! There are no sockets except a charger, so everything is Wifi, no cables! it runs off a rechargeable battery, but that doesn't seem to last too long, haven't tried to test how long as its plugged into a charger most of the time. I have used the router in the car, as its the size of credit card, but thicker. As you say do your research, prices and devices are changing all the time. Thanks for the informative video.

We have a static on a site which is open 12 months of the year. We are required to provide evidence of council tax at our home address every year. Our annual site fee includes ground rent, water and sewerage. We pay separately for bottled gas, electricity, insurance, gas appliance servicing and drain down (we close up in October as it just gets too cold living in a caravan in the WInter months). Owning a static is a luxury make no mistake. They are total money pit and when you decide to sell the loss incurred is often enough to give people heart attacks! That said, if you feel you can enjoy holidaying in the same place over and over for many years to come they're brilliant fun.
