Dadant was 2 for 2 100% accuracy with my last 2 orders. One resource hive and frames, and another one with pollen pattys. Good to hear they treated you right though.

I’m considering building one of these. Can you help me understand the benefits to the resource hive versus stand-alone nucleus colonies?

A Resource Hive, or double NUC, can be used for several purposes. You can grow out splits in them, you can use them solely to supplement other colonies, or you can even use a Queen excluder and super them for honey. The use of them is endless really.

@@scottthornandhisbeesandtrees I will say. . Nake sure you keep a close eye on them. If you do not stay ahead of them they swarm like crazy because they're only 4 frame boxes.

@@CastleHives I see. I was thinking maybe having a communal honey box on the top over an excluder. But maybe better to keep robbing resources to keep them small, until it’s time to grow them for winter? I was able to get a hive to overwinter in two five frame mediums plus a deep nuc last year and wanted to see if that works again.

@@scottthornandhisbeesandtrees They work great when you put an excluder and super them. You'll get 2 colonies working the supers so they fill up fast.
