    Hiya... can you elaborate on the "mix engine"? What is it, and how are things hooked up to it.? Also how is the mix engine different than just having things go through the mixing desk, then into the computer?

  • @Radiodotco

    @Radiodotco

    6 жыл бұрын

    Sure thing Louis! The Axia iQ AoIP mixing console has 8 configurable channels, 4 of which are mic inputs. These are ideal for managing up to 3 live guests on your shows. The mixer is completely digital. It runs audio over IP, which means nothing is connected to the mixer directly. Instead, everything is plugged into the QOR.32 mix engine. It's a dedicated machine with CPU for smoother processing audio, multiple inputs for mics, and ethernet switch to connect online. Overall it's an extremely flexible and versatile desk that's ideal for lots of audio equipment and can be fully customised to meet most big station's needs. For an in-depth look at it check out: www.telosalliance.com/Axia/iQ

    How does a dynamic microphone cancel out background noises?

  • @Radiodotco

    @Radiodotco

    3 жыл бұрын

    While I can't speak for what Mike meant in the video, some dynamic microphones are designed to focus heavily on their polar pattern and cancel out any noise coming from other directions. So if you have a cardioid dynamic mic, it will cancel out sounds to the left, right and behind the microphone. You still get background noise, it's just massively dampened.

    Nope. i3 is plenty. What do you think that PC will be doing exactly? Audio is very light on resources and the basic software for this setup is, too. It's not like they're doing multitrack recording or video work or anything else. You could still use that i3 (as long as you have plenty of RAM) and be fine with that setup today.

    Yeah, it's not a fast machine compared to i5 i7 or i9... but an i3 is plenty for this application unless they plan to record into Adobe Audition or do some heftier multitrack recording or doing video stuff, etc. Otherwise, the PC looks to be used for essentially having access to the web to do the stream, etc. RAM and ethernet bandwidth and a high-speed connection is more important than CPU power for this purpose.

    What sets a broadcast radio mixer apart from other mixers?

  • @Radiodotco

    @Radiodotco

    5 жыл бұрын

    There's not a massive difference as mixers are designed for audio professionals, but it's usually integration with radio software or hardware designs specifically useful for broadcasters (like pre-set jingle options) that set them apart.

    @@Radiodotco what the name of the mixer your using in your studio

  • @larslengberg

    @larslengberg

    3 ай бұрын

    Well, all mixers are for mixing audio together.. :) But when designing a broadcast mixer you focus on broadcaster needs, and for a live PA mixer you make it work for the sound guy (or gal) at a live show. It relates to placement/size of buttons, what displays/LEDs you need, what features to include/exclude, etc.. A few things we have in our broadcasting desk that would make little sense for a live music mixer: * Control room speakers are muted when a mic in the same room is open. * Two phone lines for live callers. * A timer that starts when each channel is open ("how long have I been talking?"). * A green light is lit next to the mic when it's open. * No master fader (you never change the "master out level" to the transmitter).
