Hello Mark, great vlog…I have a 2019 Z900 & adjusted the front as your settings, it has transformed the bike…Will try rear shock adjustment & let you know how it goes…Keep up the good work…

Great stuff, I'm still tweaking settings and getting some great advice through the channel. So I don't think we will ever stop trying to find the perfect position!

Great video Mark, will have to have a go at adjusting mine at some point. It's good to know that you "cleaned up the back end" after "tapping the ring" with your "wood!" pahaha!

Yeah, more torque at lower Revs and more toys. Although up to the new model it was a bit upright with really high bars and I didn't like the dash. That said the new one looks to have addressed all that. Also, my mate has an MT09 and it does much better on MPG.

I've got the front rebound 5 clicks from fully clockwise on my z900, any more open and the front starts to feel a bit whirley when your getting on it

For me, 4 clicks of rebound is OK for winter road use. In summer, when oil is hotter and pace faster, 2 clicks out are where my 2020 Z900 is happiest.

@Vedran. Yeah, sometimes I do 4 clicks out, I need a heavier spring to get the rear right. If I adjust pre load for my weight 95kg + gear I loose free sag on the rear

​@@deant6627 im 92kg + gear and rear spring is on the border to be too soft, but still OK. I have 47mm rider sag (10mm free sag) after adjustment (7 visible threads above lock nut) and thats OK for me. But, my Z900 is 2020 model (stiffer rear spring than 2017-2019 Models). Is your Z900 2017-2019?

@Vedran. It's a 2023 model mate, I would have to check how many threads its adjusted down but I have around 45mm rider sag with about 5-8mm free sag. Can I just say, I really am so impressed with the Z900, such an amazing bike. I have the sus set on a happy medium where I feel comfortable & confident riding hard in the twisties. How long have you had your 2020 & how has the bike been overall?

Just make sure you still have rear static sag. 10-12mm is OK, but no less than 7-8mm. If there is no static sag, back off preload until you get at least 7-8mm no matter what rider sag you have at that point. Then, measure front end again, because after adding preload to the rear, front end usually collapses more (rear end is effectively higher and more weight is transferred to the front). Btw, rear shock have 140mm travel, and 30mm rider sag is too small, especially for road use. About 1/3 is optimal, and thats 46-47mm for rear rider sag (from fully up position, you add static sag in that equasion - let say 10mm static sag + another 36-37mm = 46-47mm). As for the front Forks, which have 120mm travel, rider sag of around 40mm is what you want for street riding. Im 92kg naked (100+kg with riding gear) and i had to add 5 360 deegrees turns on preload which exposed 7 visible threads above lock nut on the shock (2 visible threads is stock settings). I have 46-47mm of rider sag (10mm static sag is included in that measurement). Front Forks is stock settings (11 turns in) for me which measures 37-38mm of rider sag. 40mm is too much for me because i use 90% of travel (zip tie method) and thats borderline, so no more than 37-38mm of rider sag for me - For rebound 4 clicks out in the Winter, 2 clicks out for the Summer. Rear shock stock rebound settings is optimal on my 2020 Z900 (same bike as yours). Btw, bottom out for Forks is 15mm above black casting (135mm is visible when you fully extend Forks and travel is 120mm).

@@bikerevz keep in mind that this is "usual measurements for road use" - deviations are possible, depending on the riding style and the roads used, but in general, this should be starting point for Z900 for road use. Be carefull with front preload, you dont want to bottom out front suspension - its very dangerous. You use zip tie, just follow it and keep in mind that 15mm above casting is maximum travel and you need at least 10% and not more than 20% in reserve for road use. Sorry for bad English, not my native language.
