    Thanks Colin! We still tend to measure our weight in pounds and height in feet and inches. It may take another generation to fully switch to metric. I have a long list of topics to create videos for but happy to take suggestions of topics you are most interested in.

    Thanks, I'll use these! I have a nice new camera and a nice 70-200 f2.8 lens and I find my Grandson's team always asking me to shoot their sports games (baseball, soccer, etc). A single game could yield 500 photos. I was using Apple Photos for ingesting and culling but I heard about PM and just signed up for the 30-day trial for PM6 Plus. Looking forward to seeing more tips, especially organizing things! Thanks!

    My very first event after turning pro we produced 85,000+ images. As soon as I finished that job, I bought Photo Mechanic and haven't looked back.

    Thanks! Most tutorials show someone pressing "5" or "3" to cull their photos, but don't mention that you must first change your Preferences (under Accessibility) from "Color Class" to "0-5 Rating". Being able to add folder path, pixel size, date taken, caption, etc. to the contact sheet is very helpful. And being able to see subfolders merged into one giant pot is a game changer. Great tutorial.

    Mary, Glad that you found the video useful. I know that when I found that option to display a folder and its subfolders in one contact sheet, it was extremely useful for the work I do.

    But how do you do that? Under Photo Mechanic / Settings / General, it doesn't give the option to do Rating vs/ Color Class.

    I came looking for performance tips but watched anyways and found this informative thank you, I would like to point out that using Adobe's DNG converter slows you down BIG TIME but it does reflect the changes you made in Camera RAW, just so people are aware.

  • @jeffvoganphotography

    I think that I tried using the DNG converter, but quickly stopped because of the performance impact

  • @robinb5752

    Using the RAW renderer / DNG converter is great when looking at already processed photos in your catalog (in case of PM Plus). But I believe it defeats the main feature of PhotoMechanic (ultra-fast preview) when you are ingesting and culling new photos. I wish I could use the RAW renderer only in the catalog part and have it off during ingest & culling.

    hi Jeff. thanks for the video. I have a little issue when I export the photos in Lightroom it does not export the one I choose and select. For some reason photo mecanics exports in LR all the pictures. it does not make any sense, right? I have to change something in my preferences?

  • @jeffvoganphotography

    @jeffvoganphotography

    9 ай бұрын

    I assume that you mean when you are selecting images in PM that you want to import into LR. If that is the case, select the images in PM and then drag them onto the LR icon. The LR import window will appear and all of the images in the source folder will appear. However only the images you had selected will have check marks. The rest will be greyed out. I hope that was your issue and that was the answer you were looking for.

  • @jeffvoganphotography

    I am not sure exactly what you have happening. I set Name + two labels in the Preferences, then define what the two labels are. If you don't define the two labels, they will appear as blank on the contact sheet.

    @@jeffvoganphotography oh sorry, I should have been clearer. I have the labels defined and they show on the contact sheet. But they don't show in the preview window (in the filmstrip)

    I don't think that would be a great use of screen real estate to repeat the additional 2 labels in the filmstrip. It's already in the coontact sheet.
