Setting Float Height - Mikuni Carburetor - Yamaha Fj600
This video supplements the the instructions called "setting the fuel levels" which can be found at xj4ever.com. It shows some of the details needed to set the float levels on a set of Mikuni BS-32 Carburetors from a 1985 Yamaha FJ600. This is a common procedure and many of the same steps can be used to set the float levels on many different types of carburetors.

thanks for posting. it's rare to find such a straightforward video. i wanted to check to see if i could use a regular clear fuel tube or if it had to be a specific diameter. thanks.
very helpful thanks
Super video... I ll try your tehnics on my 1982 Xj 550.
good vid. the float heights should only be used as a guide as the tang on the float which makes contact with the needle valve might be slightly bent different thus making the float height the same but the fuel level different. always use the clear tube method of checking actual fuel height in the bowls with the bike level and warmed up then shut off or as in the vid bench sync . the manual for the bike usually states where the fuel should be in relation to the bowl cover .
Really easy instructions to follow, but such a shame that you don't give the course measurement of the float height as a datum to get people started. Having a course measurement to start with would give you a chance of getting one or two right and mean less removing the float bowls. Otherwise good though.
Do you really have to measure with the carbs on its side? I thought it was OK for the bowls to "rest" on the inner pin (under the weight of the bowls).
What value in millimeters was put on the caliper when measuring the floats???
Was that on the gasket base or carb body?
i cant figure how to get my carbs out of my FJ?
Jak sie nazywa to uzadzenie do ustawienia odleglosci
Does it not matter how long the house is?

your level doesn't seem to be set properly. why's it level with edge/flats of carbs? dunno what your bikes level is but on my r1 it's 5.1mm above flat on carb.
where did you get the adapter to connect hose to bowl?
When you guys were trying to get the air out of the fuel line, I was yelling at my phone saying “pull the end of the damn tubing up past the point of the bubble and it’ll vent itself out!” Hahahah. Over-analytical, over-thinking couple of guys, but you missed the obvious solution to such a simple solution
