How does a Carburetor Work?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Step by Step Explanation!
Over the years, I've done quite a few videos on how to clean a carburetor. However, I've never done a video explaining how a carburetor actually works!

Good video. I’ll have to watch it a couple of times though. Maybe remove my reluctance to tamper with the carb from my 5hp, 4 stroke, Mariner Outboard which is currently difficult to start and quickly soots up the spark plug?😊

My mom had a mower that would fill with gas and oil, would start and blow smoke, then die. This absolutely showed me what the hell was going on. I kept the mower and will buy a new carb, but this is hands down, the best carb video on the net. Wish I would have searched this before I bought her a new $1200 mower.

I maybe sort of knew before how this worked, but not with this level of clarity. Recently, I replaced a worn out torn up primer bulb on my Toro snowblower. When I took it all apart to replace the little rubber piece, I found that the whole tube had come off the carb. (And I wondered why it had been so challenging to start.) It's great to have more clarity now on exactly how this part works. Really clear explanations with appropriate shots of the parts you're talking about.

I love when people film demonstrations as they are suppose to be filmed. Great demonstration! Perfect explanation - Perfect audio and pointing to areas in mention. Awesome video! Most videos seem to consist of a microphone placed across the room so you can't hear anything. Then when you do hear something, its not useful. Video is usually of someone constantly moving the camera as it adjusts to focus. Perfect job! Thank you.

Just wanted to thank you for this video. Last winter I put off, then forgot to get my generator ready for summer storage. A few days ago I knew I had a problem when I took the gas cap off and it had a smell of varnish. Being an electrician I do not know a lot about how to repair and fix a gas engine. Watched several videos on how to clean and repair carburetors. They did not help a lot. Your video on how a carburetor actually operates and works. once I understood how they work I could see what I needed to do. Most of the videos on here do not go into enough detail on wow to repair a carburetor. Now I know where to come if I have any generator problems. Again thank you.

At what point of time in the video did you notice the crack? If there was we would have noticed it and weld repaired before returning the mower. We have done many steering assembly weld repairs and they normally hold up well unless you really hit something hard to break the original weld .

This is by far the most helpful video I’ve seen in trying to troubleshoot my go kart problem. It is leaking fuel out of the exhaust, and it is due to a combination of problems: one, the fuel pressure regulator (fpr) with the built in diaphragm, and two, the needle attached to the float. I have figured out the fpr is indeed malfunctioning due to the carb sucking in gasoline through the vacuum lines. This indicates a pinhole in the diaphragm as you mentioned. I ordered a new one online yesterday. Now I need to dissect the carb and make sure the needle is the issue. Thank you for this video! Very helpful, and great for understanding how the carb works and problems that can occur.

BRAVO! This was an absolutely AWESOME video. I’m an electrical engineer, so I oftentimes need clarification on specific mechanical systems. This was probably the best explanation video I have ever seen. I do a lot of combustion/burner process troubleshooting, so I already understand the Venturi effect and Bernoulli, etc.; but from the perspective a carburetor, this helped pull all of the parts and pieces together for me. My 4 wheeler carb rebuild should be a lot more intuitive now. Thank you again for saving me a lot of time and keep up the excellent work!!!

Another EE, just finished fixing a ride on mower, and a push mower, both been in storage for 2years, both with carby issues, I managed to get them going after cleaning out the jets and float valves, although I kind of knew what I was doing, I wished I had found this video first, rather than after I had fixed the mower,

@@EliminatorPerformance Have a question: I just cleaned two Honda pressure Washer carbs. A GX 160 and 200. Both had no ring in the top part of the Pilot/idle jet but seem to run fine when tested. I looked at rebuild kits and there seems to be only one O ring for it shown. Is this an issue. Also I found the 160 had a spring washer in the shut off valve lever and the 200 did not. Thanks for any advice.

Anything to seal them, sometimes they have 1, most Kohler's with same carbs have 2. No worries! And spring washer gives resistance on the left right movement of the shut-off valve. It's so it doesn't rattle and close from vibrations

BEST VIDEO EVER!!!! After trying everything under the sun to figure out why I kept getting gas spewing out of my exhaust, I tested my carburetor with a bike tire pump and sure enough, the dang thing was leaking. Now I can go order that part with the rubber tip and see if it fixes my problem. I literally broke down my engine all but the crank case. LOL I am learning a lot from you. THANK YOU! 🤗
