The military aircraft, same thing, for example, the SR-71 Blackbird, from planning/concept/prototype, to acquisition by the Military, to operation and maintenance, and finally, Retirement and to a Museum Piece at the Air and Space Museum.

A lot of operators are going to be holding the bag in a few years, if they don’t foist them on the public first.

You see all these aircraft like the G-IV and Citation X that date from the late 90s and you gotta figure that they're cost prohibitive, if not functionally useless, except as cannibalization sources for parts.

What's the scenario that leads to the final end of life decision? The next maintenance is costs more that it's worth after the maintenance? Literally nobody is willing to buy to fly it at any price? I assume there are brokers who buy them to part out if that is worthwhile. How is it moved to the parting out company if the decision is made during an inspection and it cannot fly?

I would like to take decommissioned business jet and turn it into a small house or cabin.

my tastes seem to change with new entries, however the Gulfstream G500 seems to do an awful lot for the money (preowned) and the PWC engines are a real game changer

How often do you find that "Withdrawn" jets were disposed of?

thank you Jeff, it's generally a short term maneuver to regroup, get a handle on the market, face reality then they come back on the market and sell for a 'realistic' market price v perception

Thanks, I'm now stopping my jet search. It sounds like a Billionaire's hobby, not a millionaire's.
