I was at Barksdale 1989-1995 and was taught and mentored by a federal service cook. This was the good ole days when you had crusty old men set in their ways that ran the kitchen with their cooking before the Air Force entered into contracts with Aramark and Sodexo.

@@jondstewart at Eglin we had a bunch of older ladies cooking in our breakfast and lunch chow hall. The chow hall almost every year was rated best in whole USAF. For dinner we had a bunch of crusty old GIs , they were miserable, and food was just okay. Once a month we got steak or lobster both were way over cooked. I ate a lot of McDonalds something I had never seen because we didn't have them where I lived. We also smoked a lot of weed so we were always going out for munchies.

My question is do you have a job equivalent to Navy Full-Time Support Service Member in the Air Force?

ACTIVE GUARD-RESERVE (AGR) Active Guard-Reserve status is available for Reservists and is designed specifically to create active-duty level continuity within limited base-specific jobs. AGRs enjoy full active duty benefits for limited contract periods, including medical and financial benefits. They are subject to renewal based on the AGR contract. They are often coveted positions due to their benefits, but unlike normal Traditional Reservists are more subject to the needs of the service, much like active duty. The deployment rate for AGRs is no different than for Traditional Reservists.

Ft. Bragg 70s & 80s our Dog food line were top of the line, can remember a lot of times greasy burger patties, C-Rats guaranteed x 2 to 3 times a month, food was so horrible, usually hitched a ride off post an hit one of the Chinese restaurants to get a decent meal. Then back to the WW2 barracks to finish the day out in mold, asbestos laden quarters.
