If it was a registered service dog- that means it was from a training facility...there the only ones who registered their program dogs...their #1 rule is 4 on the floor...allways. as you can see, it wasnt focused on the handler...and was in a shopping cart...

Well she does state she's partially deaf so I think she has the dog in there to hear him better while shopping. If you've ever been to a crowded supermarket/ target/ Wal-Mart ect you'll know there's a ton of people, workers, and noisy carts, making it Substantially harder to hear, especially for the almost deaf

I don't really get 'kicked out' of businesses with my seizure response dog, but I get insulted and antagonized. White House Black Market had their employees follow me, each of them pretending to be the manager, and then they tried to get customers to make me uncomfortable-- one of which was my mother who was given the instructions to "Find out what's wrong with that girl so we can figure out if we can sue." My personal favorite was when I went into a McDonald's and was greeted with a loud "DOES THAT DOG REALLY /HAVE/ TO BE HERE!?" by a worker. People will talk shit regardless, we just have to be confident and know our rights. If someone denies you access your best method is to ask for the manager's card, request that the person turning you away write their name on the card, then do a follow up report from the manager up to corporate depending on how far you need to keep going until someone knows about ADA laws.

@R Brown actually registrations are scams and under the Americans with Disabilities Act, there is no registration and it’s illegal to ask for one.

There is no such this as a registered service dog. That is all a scam. And as for the lady with the smaller dog, it's not a problem that she has one but it should most definitely not be in a shopping cart. A service dog is suppose to be at a handlers side at all times in a public place.

+kelsey Thomas those online service dogs are a scam - but you can get them through certified trainers what you do is call Animal Control they'll donate a dog that suits the need and you work with that dog with a certified trainer until he's ready to serve , the only place that should be able to argue about service animals is a Restaurant . because that's a health violation . but other than that Disabilities act says you have to accommodate the disabled and that dog is a device that person needs no different than a wheel chair let Walmart tell me I can't bring my service dog in there lol. I'll own a pretty stock in that company Waffle house ? I won't bring him in there people are trying to eat and he might have an accident People need to be considerate of others

+Steven Tate if your dog has accidents inside maybe you should reevaluate and retrain. Service dogs have every right to be in a restaurant, where the public is allowed. The ADA law states that in fact. You cannot be refused for that or for allergies. My state does not offer that program using animal control, but I do have my own service dog whom I've trained myself and with a trainer. There is no certificate. There is a paper saying you completed a class. That's it.

Walmart already got raked over the coals for ADA compliance violations regarding service dogs. It turns out that they had been violating ADA law as a matter of policy. A blanket "No Animals" policy that ignored the law altogether. They had to agree to retrain their employees using an ADA approved course and set an ADA approved policy. Now they've instituted a policy in which greeters can ask one question and one question only: "Is that dog to aid you with a disability?" If the answer is yes, they must let you in. Period. If anybody is having trouble at a Walmart, I'd definitely immediately inform the corporate office and the DOJ Civil Rights division.

Restaurants Can not refuse to let dogs in the customer area of the restaurant. The only places that Service dogs can't go are hospital ER rooms.

+KigerMustangLuver94 I know the laws a NB d all that I'm an advocate to help with it to people have been thrown out for their dogs and I tell them that it's a service dog and it's illegal to kick them out. the registry is so if you have an issue with some of the food places then it CV an be looked at even though it's not required I have a service dog and I get told all the time what can a Small dog like her do. I tell them they are comfort for vets with PTSD after the war seizure alert diabetic alert and hearing aid dog. the government needs to step up and remind places that serve the public they can not deny access to people with dogs but. also need to set up a way to tell the real from the fakes.

there are no legit registries. They are scams. There are no federal registries. When a person flashes one of those scam ID's it makes it harder for someone with a real service dog. I've been told in the ER i couldn't be in there because I have a service dog, was harassed for a long time about needing to prove it with a registration because some idiot came in before me and flashed a fake registration to prove their pet was a service dog. Any advocate knows that there is no real service dog registry. Read the ADA law, it's right in there they cannot ask for the registration. If you call the ADA hotline they'll explain to you why, it's because there is no real registry. I can make a site to register service dogs and charge whatever amount i want. I don't even have to keep record of anything just laminate a piece of paper for you and ship it off to you. It's called a scam but so far they aren't cracking down on it. Also all the scam sites allow anyone to register their pet on there. I have a duck registered as a joke on one. Someone else registered a candy bar, A page on facebook registered a picture of a whale.

I'm sorry SD don't ride in shopping carts.....

+Amanda Williams that was a hearing alert dog. One of the few where riding in the cart does not interfere with its job. It actually helps since the dog is in direct line of sight to the hearing impaired person pushing the cart. Only know this because i have a deaf relative.

I was threatened at the Littleton, Colorado Post Office on Alamo Street because I had my service dog with me and would not tell the clerk what my disability was. I don't have too make disclosure. There were people standing around everywhere who watched the whole awful scene. I asked for the supervision and they wouldn't go get him, Why? Because he was out of the building and not on site like he should have been. He refused to call the police. I am disabled and this was so very traumatic. I hardly go out now. I never know when I will be attacked by someone who thinks it is their right to enforce a law they don't even know to begin with.

Thanks for the link. I did answer the first question. I told the postal clerk it was for a medical condition that I received SSD for. I do not have to disclose my medical condition per ADA. I could not find that in your link either.

I should think that a federal employee violating federal law on federal property would get the attention of the Department of Justice's Civil Rights division's attention pretty quickly. I don't think the federal government wants to deal with the awkward situation of fining itself or being sued for discrimination.

Heidi, I think she meant it as a way to support that she IS disabled, basically saying that the government recognizes her as disabled. But IMHO, it would have been more effective to show a Medicare card. If you under retirement age the only way to get a Medicare card is if you are disabled.

Thankfully, my Goldendoodle Service Dog, Jack, and I have been treated with complete respect wherever we go. He always wears his red Service Dog padded harness vest, even though Service Dogs are not required by law to wear a identifying vest, etc. I just find it less stressful having him clearly recognizable as a SD, due to my mental health issues, I oftentimes find it too overwhelming to talk to people I don't know. There aren't words to describe the ways in which Jack has helped me in the two years we've been together! He's a truly amazing and incredible dog!!

I have a service dog. She is 7 lbs. She is a Medical Alert service dog. As a handler, I see a few things wrong with this. 1. NO REGISTRATION FOR SERVICE DOGS. The law does not recognize any certification or registration. What the law cares about is if you are disabled and if that dog is task trained to mitigate your disability. 2. The zoo was able to ask her to leave the bears, but not the entire zoo. It is important for zoos and other places that use animals to keep them safe! You want to keep your dog safe as well. DO NOT disobey the outlawed zones with a service dog. 3. It is highly recommended that the dog should not be in the cart. Businesses can ask her to remove the dog and she would have to. That dog is a lot larger than mine and my dog ALWAYS walks. Very rare occasions may a dog be in a cart.

@@thepizzainthebackofyourfre9615 actually, by absolutely no means can a dog be in a cart. Under the health department that’s a major violation. Legally animals aren’t allowed around food. But service animals are allowed as long as they are not dirty or filthy. Because they still can’t cause problems with the food. Which is why the ADA says they don’t protect in kitchens. Where we’re in complete contact with food. I would know because I couldn’t take the dog in the photo due to me working at Panda Express

I also have a seizure response dog and have been asked to leave target and several other stores and I know for a fact that target will kick you out Indeed ...

+phonelady61 I shop at Target and many other places with my service dog and the only place I have been asked to leave was a Thrift store (it is who is working at a store not any particular store. ) I called the police and they came and told the manager she was wrong and I had the right to be there - the next time we came the manager was no longer working there.

File a complaint with your state's Human Rights Commission or the U.S. Department of Justice. The DOJ will act if there are several complaints on the matter at a certain company or store. Your state's HRC may be quicker to respond.

There are holes in these women's stories you could drive a Mack truck through. While some legitimate schools (not the "I paid my fee now give my pet his B" type of schools) do give certificates of training completion, there are no registries and no government issued IDs; therefore, the first lady claiming that her dog has certification really makes me wonder if she even has a legit service dog. With the second lady, service dogs are NOT supposed to ride in store carts any more than they would sit on the furniture in a store or eat off of a plate in a restaurant. I have a diabetic alert dog but I have an acquaintance that has a deaf assistance dog and one of the things hearing impaired service dogs do is pick up things (like keys) that the deaf person could drop and not realize it. But even if the dog doesn't do that, a service dog walks beside you. Store owners have a legitimate complaint if you tote a dog in the cart--that just isn't done.

Tron81 PTSD and Austism are extremely debilitating and are not at all questionable reasons for having a service dog. I will be getting a service dog at the end of this year for my Hemiplegic Migraines and Seizures I hope you dont say that those are questionable because than i'd really think you were an idiot

Actually you're not allowed to ask for "credentials" the only two questions you can legally ask are "Is that a service dog?"& "what tasks does it perform?" The only answers you're entitled are "Yes" & "Its trained to assist me with a disability." You don't have the right to deny access based on a service animal it counts as discrimination just like you can't refuse access based on someone's race.

Regarding SDs in carts, they are not allowed. Discussion follows. (Tried to remove this elsewhere here where it's been posted.) Just to end the confusion, here's the actual wording of federally provided information. "Are stores required to allow service animals to be placed in a shopping cart? A: Generally, the dog must stay on the floor, or the person must carry the dog. For example, if a person with diabetes has a glucose alert dog, he *may carry the dog in a chest pack so it can be close to his face to allow the dog to smell his breath* to alert him of a change in glucose levels." You can walk away from your shopping cart/buggy/basket, but you cannot walk away from a chest pack without taking it off. If going away from your biological glucose moniter is permissible, the service dog is on the floor. To make it easy: "Four on the floor (or on you)!" Note: Bold added for emphasis. The sentence is correct grammatically, but many Americans have minimal grammar education, so the use of the comma and the following conjugation "or" can be replaced with preposition "but" meaning "except for". The "or" is left over from the actual legal language summarized in the Q and A. (I can source this if you would like. I figured this would be enough.) 2 Questions that can be asked; Is this a service dog? and, What does it do? The animal MUST DO something. Must be specifically trained as a service animal. Even if it's determined to be a service animal, it is legally possible to prohibit entry (or send away)if the animal causes problems.

I wish there where a way, a card or license to show that you can bridge the misunderstandings and separate those of us who do need a service dog and those who pose their pets as such. we put hologram emblems on driver license to keep fake ID's more distinguishing to prevent fraud. what if we put the dogs tags as their I.D. stating they are certified. take the having to explain, or have any confrontation whatsoever. leaving out the need for vests or any other things people spew out against the need for qualifying your need for service dog. and making it harder for others to fake.... so the license would have handlers name on it (matching other ID's) no explanation further needed, including what the dog even does for you. so no matter who calls the cops, or what others say happened the matter goes unquestioned... the dogs license overrides the question. then any accusers would have to provide proof of dog misbehaving or uncharacteristic of a trained service dog. because a true handler would not tolerate a service dog that didn't act right.... those of us who NEED a service dog are not gonna waste out time or trust our needs to a dog that cant fit the "leash" nor would we put our own disability in question. we are in the infant stages of the ADA laws and those who want to abuse it in the name alone. and those of us who need the service dog, need to protect ourselves, our dogs, and our rights before posers ruin it for us. no one wants to be "marked" as different, or singled out by society.... but its almost imposable not to at this point. people are gonna ask "why? whats wrong? whats with the dog? what does it do for you?" its intrusive regardless. and we are left with the bottom line of 1.) i need this dog for (....) or 2.) i stay at home because i cant do this because of (....) i have multiple sclerosis. I'm in a wheelchair, my left side is weak and useless, and my legs are now just accessories to put shoes on. I'm a mother of 2 and can't drive anymore i get out 2 times a month to doctors appointments... being home all day, day in and day out is enough to drive me crazy... and i am starting this road of an assistance dog. i watch all the struggles and confrontations. and at this point, i ask myself "is it worth the crap people deal out just to be out in society again?" i would have to say "yes" but we as handlers have to take a more active roll in making it easier for others and ourselves. we are the best in knowing what we need. we have to do it. we have to be our own advocate...

Sounds like a great idea, but what if companies did that also? Also, what happens to those who aren’t going through organizations? I’m owner training my dog and I can’t spend thousands on getting my dog registered at all. My dog is there to help with psychiatric and medical disabilities.

My college student works as a night manager at a supermarket chain. As part of his training he had to memorize chapter and verse of the federal law re service dogs to parrot back to customers who complained about them.

PTSD is an invisable disablity as is my mobilty issue. I am owner training my own service dog and I get "are you a service dog trainer" and I say no, I am owner training and they look me up and down and say "what is wrong with you?" Well, a lot. But I am VERY uncomfortable saying PTSD and someone on a PTSD site I am on says medical alert as its true and it shuts people up! I do wish these news casts I am seeing would show mental disabilities as they are disabilties and invisable so even more questions are asked.

You have the right to train your own Service dog.

Note: A person must be disabled to have a service dog. A service dog must be trained to meet the specific needs of its disabled handler. It takes about 2 years for a service dog to be fully trained. A service dog is NOT a pet!

I am legally blind and work with a service dog. My Shepherd and I have been challenged in our local Chinese food restaurant and I had to call the police to get served. I used to work in a fast food restaurant and have seen bad things happen to food when the workers are angry so I ordered a soda in a can and left after drinking it. Most people are fine with service dogs but ignorant people are annoying. I never went back to the Chinese place on principle. We have several businesses in town that are super supportive and we can even pop in to get our water bottle refilled even if I don't have the money for a snack. Our Blank park zoo has a keeper follow us and we're not allowed in the aviary or Australia walk about but I am understanding because they are worried about the safety of the loose birds in the aviary and the Australian animals actually have been aggressive with a service dog and I would not want anyone hurt.

Emotional comfort is simply an added bonus and not a trained task.

Sho81 I disagree with u according to the ADA dogs must have 4 on the floor!! I realize she is hearing impaired, however if she gets easily startled the dog would a better job by checking and alerting to people behind her or in front of her by checking and alerting by the dog being in a cart he cant do his job if he can't see what's behind his handler or around the corner...

A note about the dogs in the shopping cart. My service dog is a Chihuahua, she is only 5 pounds. I NEVER let her walk on the floor. My previous service dog, also a Chihuahua has been hit my carts, kicked, stepped on. However, ever time I take my dog into a store, I use a fresh clean blanket that she sits on so she does not come into contact which the cart where others might put food. Luckily I'm in a wheelchair now so she's almost always in my lap, but the rare days where I am doing well enough to walk a little, it is just too dangerous for a small breed to be on the floor, especially in crowds, like busy check out lines.

I saw what I believe was a papillon/chihuahua mix service dog with a woman at CVS the other day. It was amazing. The woman would point at a product with her laser pen and the dog would bring it to her. She said she always has it ride in a cart because of fear of injury. I can understand that. One of my barn cats weighs more than that teeny little dog.

They are allowed to go to places that say "No Dogs Allowed".

"Four on the floor" she shouldn't be carrying her service dog in a cart . As of 2011 ADA specifies the dog should be on the floor at all times unless some danger would be present

There is no law that states that SD's can not sit in a cart. They have to be in your full control at all times. Depending on your disability, you may need your SD in the cart in order for it to perform it's task/ work. (such as tactile stimulation) Plus if you have a very small SD & a very crowded store you may need to put your SD in the cart for safety reason's.As far as feeding in a restaurant, it is poor etiquette, not illegal.

No they can't ask a SD to leave for eating in the restaurant. ADA says that they are allowed anywhere in the restaurant where a member of the general public can be

I have a German shepherd mix she is my SD I have to use an electric cart sometimes if I have to stand up she is still learning to stay out of the way but I will have her stand in between the seat in the card and the controls that way she isn’t in the aisle she does good if my husband is with me then he will get what I can’t reach from the cart

That would be the Americans with Disability Act. The ADA has a website where you can a access the full law. According to the ADA a service animal is any animal specifically trained to assist a person with a disability and must be allowed access to all public places and all private places with a public function. They don't have to wear any identifying markers, you're not allowed to ask for 'certification' or specifics on the disorder. Failure to allow a service animal constitutes discrimination.

I suggest looking at the site Service Dog Central. I tried to enter a website earlier and it wouldn't let me so you might have to do this research your self. Some things a PTSD service dog might be trained to do would be: Waking person from nightmares or night terrors, Alerting person to panic anxiety increasing, leading person to a safe place which may be to a certain location, outside, to the car, or maybe to lead the person home safely, Hallucination dicernment... look it up.

Service dogs are not supposed to ride in shopping carts. It is not because it may prevent the dog from performing work or tasks, it is because it is a health risk. Just like the reason service dogs cannot lick merchandise or sniff for food at a restaurant or sit on chairs made for sale or public use.

I didn't mean it to say that people with have misbehaving dogs, sorry it came out like that.

Actually the service dogs for Autisim is to keep the disabled person from wandering, keep them focused and if the person also suffers from hearing disability it helps them with the evironment around them.

I could have sworn service dog or not they are not allowed in the grocery cart of the store. I just thought of a different question. Can service dogs be in grocery carts that the handler brought from home? I think the answers no too because they have to have their paws on the ground when not tasking but I might be wrong

Regarding specific restrictions to PA at zoos and similar places: Under very narrowly defined circumstances a service dog's access may be limited. An example: If an event is demonstrating dogs in rehabilitation and the presence of an *unknown* dog poses a risk of the dog being exhibited to loose control (and hurt themselves, the handlers, and/or the service dog team) a reasonable accommodation is to not have the service dog in the front row, but in a different row. My local aquarium has specific spots for SD teams to hang out and view the sea lions. With specific concent and immideate supervision of a biologist (not docent), a specific SD *may* be allowed "paws up" so they can see also. We were specifically asked if he could be allowed to see, and the offer was extended based upon what they witnessed of his behavior during the previous 2 hours. Please note, the specific source referenced in this thread is a clarification of the ADA regarding service dogs (and miniature horses to a more limited degree), just as the DoJ's 2010 clarification. Well, there's the obvious physical ways...when a soldier comes home and has PTSD they usually have a physical disability as well. People with PTSD often have severe panic attacks, the dogs are trained to monitor heart rate and breathing, they are trained to nudge the person, or get their attention in another way, bringing the person back to reality before the attack starts. People with PTSD are often uncomfortable in pubic, or scared, so yes having the reassurance of a dog with them helps.

Places like zoos and national parks or nature reserves have the right to limit the access of service dogs for safety reasons. In general, they must attempt to reasonably accommodate the service dog unless it is completely impossible (such as a park that hosts predators that will track the scent of the dog and put the humans in danger).

Shayna Pulley sorry as I re-read your post I can see that could be a possibility but I just think people with disabilities need to have access to everything a fully functional people does ...I don't have a service animal but I am overweight, have severe arthritis in my knees and have a heart condition...I sat at home so very long because I couldn't walk...now I have an old second hand scooter...nothing to look at but at least I can participate with the grandkids and I am living a bit. When you are young treasure your health.

Businesses are allowed to ask 2 questions about dogs in non pet places under Fed. ADA law: 1) Is the dog a SD required for a disability & 2) What tasks/work has the dog been trained to do. They may not ask for a demo. of the this, or anything else. They may ask the dog to be removed if the dog is showing aggression,barking,being out of control & the handler takes no measurements to control the dog., pooping/ peeing in the store (there are other's but limited space) Not because it is in a cart.

I’m getting my service dog soon and I’m scared to go to the store right near me because they are notorious for telling people to keep their pets outside I’ve seen dogs tied up outside all the time and I don’t want my service dog to be mistaken as a pet. Also there is no certification and the deaf woman should not have her service dog in the cart. The ONLY excuse is if it is some sort of medical alert dog that NEEDS to be near her upper body ex: diabetic alert dog that may need to smell her breath. In her situation it could be appropriate for the dog to be in the bigger part of the cart then it can see around corners and tell her or the dog should be trained to walk in front but in her situation her dog should not be in the cart. I’m not bashing her if the store allows it then that’s fine but I’m just informing people if the store does not allow your service dog in a cart then you are not obligated. Even diabetic alerts because they can smell your blood sugar not even from your mouth but just your body and they can sense it.

I agree. I know a few people with them. And we can all join together and enter the store.

If I ever witness a business turn away someone with a service dog, I will raise hell. I mean, I'll get the manager and call corporate. I hate witnessing injustices and ignorant employees both power tripping and not knowing the law.

+Cora Clements there are only a few places a service dog cannot go - into a flight cage at a zoo, in an Operating room but exceptions are made for that one.

+razzleberrycat you are absolutely correct. Some of the ignorance displayed here is appaling. There are State and Federal laws that protect individuals with a service animal. We train Veterans how to handle service dogs and teach them about these laws. Any place that denies an individual with a service animal access is liable to prosecution and fines are assessed accordingly to prevent future discrepancies. Also, anyone who harms an individual or their service dog can be charged with a First degree felony punishable by fine or jail or both.

peter collins no actually they can’t be refused in churches. The law clearly states they can go ANYWHERE a member of the public can go. The courts already affirmed that.

No such thing as a certified service dog and NO dog should be in a shopping cart. It is against the law even if it is a service dog.

I have a small seizure alert dog. She reacts and can warn me from a shopping trolly or anywhere she is close enough to sense my oncoming distress...this was part of her training. An assistance dog unless it is for the blind does not have to be right by your side to function. My poodle goes in a blanket in the cart. I was threatened by a lady behind the counter at my local post office she screamed at me to remove my dog who was in her little stroller. I use a stroller as my balance is not good. When I asked for her supervisor who also did not know the law...in a government office facility.After which the people in line were applauding me for sticking to my guns. They aslo thanked me for educating them. When is the government going to put the same amount of time as you have exploring this situation and educating the public.

please make sure not to put your dogs in any shopping carts that belong to establishments...it is permissible to use your own stroller, however the dog can't go into an establishments cart...

@@carolannetitmus8878 you can use a pouch or sling for your dog...otherwise all four paws have to be on the floor... it is part of the ADA... service animals are allowed in zoos, however they can restrict certain displays depending on valid reasons...otherwise they have to allow the SD in

Carolanne Titmus Yes, keep the dog out of the carts. It’s for sanitary reasons. And if your disability makes is so hard for you to go shopping with a dog, consider another treatment option because a service dog is supposed to make life easier, not harder. You can always keep the dog at a heel and have a hands free leash. I use one and it’s great for my daily routine.

A zoo is allowed to refuse access to service dogs in certain parts of the zoo where there is barrier between the dog and zoo animal is not defined. This is the only restriction within the ADA laws.

I have a service dog too. I was not kicked out of the zoo I was at, but advised to stay away from the big cats and wolves because they might get a bit wild at the sight of him.

Mobility dogs are a great help but they are not a replacement for a walker, cane or crutch!! This is an inappropriate use of a service dog. The amount of force being applied to this dogs back is traumatic. Especially when a person is of a larger size. Even a skinny person should not use a dog to help themselves up. A dog can only carry up to 10% of its weight on its back. UP TO, so it varies by breed to start, a fine boned dog like a grey hound would not be able to do 10% but a mastiff would. a 100lb dog would only hold 10lbs, if someone needs support to get up, they are going to exert about half of their body weight into the item they brace on. As far as the zoo, a zoo can deny service animals if the animals presence is disrupting the other animals. Churches, country clubs, private homes, parties, sterile locations etc can also refuse service dogs. This dog is also ''registered' There is no such thing as registered, only fake service dogs are registered. This woman is not using this dog correctly, it appears to need more training and she doesnt know the law anyway. She's just mad someone told her know. Meanwhile I have a real service dog and have only had 2 access issues in my 30 years of having service dogs. I travel all over as well so clearly, she's the issue, not the businesses.

rock angel Thats... what mobility support dogs are for. To lean on. They’re specially taught to ‘brace’ themselves in order to support the weight of their handler. They also have to be a very specific height and weight in order to stay safe.

No dogs in shopping carts

My Youngest Daughter has Seizures and She has a Service Dog The Dog Knows when shes Going to Have One...... My Daughter is Also Hearing and Seeing Impaired She was Denied access to a Store until I called The Police and Let them know They were Breaking The Law. The Dog was working and had her Vest On My Daughter wanted to Drop It but I would Not Allow her to. People have to Understand these are Working Dogs

The Ada law applies to everyone, the public and the Handler. Ada Law states service dogs can't be placed in grocery cart for any reason, it's a sanitary issue. When you place your dog in a grocery cart it's disgusting. All handlers pretty much know this and when they do see a dog in a grocery cart it's usually a fake service dog that has no training that's why it rides in the cart even though it's against the law.

Registration is questionable and not necessary. A zoo is understandable. More businesses need to learn the laws. However it is illegal to put a service dog in a shopping cart people.

These people should be required to carry legal documents that state that the dog is, in fact, a service dog. I mean heck, anyone can put one of those harnesses on their dog and claim it's a "service dog".

A harness is not what makes a service dog. And neither will any fake bs documentation. Nor will fake bs papers stop any pet owners faking their pets as service animals.

You are obviously not educated on the matter of service dogs, disabilities and the ADA. PTSD and Autism are disabling conditions, and there are tasks and work that a service dog can be trained that assist disabled individuals with these conditions.

huge problem that there is no certification for service dogs. I am totally in favor of service dogs but unfortunately there are lots of fake service dogs. these folks seem legit, but I have seen so many disruptive barking growling jumping acting out “service” dogs.

Certification does not exist, nor is it allowed to be asked for. This is for a multitude of reasons. And bs fake certificates will not stop any pet owner from faking their pet as a service animal.

OK this video is making me mad. 1st there is no legal service dog registry that exist in the USA. You are not required to have your dogs certified or registered. It is against the law for any service dog to being a shopping cart. It should be on the floor. I totally understand why the zoo said what they said as you are not only making your dog feel threatened by their animals and making their animal felt threatened by yours. The smarter thing would have been to call ahead and let them know what was going on to see where you should and shouldn't take your dog and if they could possibly can on your dog in an air conditioned place. Most use are accommodating. Seriously people if you're gonna get mad at least know the laws.
