Service Dog to the Rescue! 💪 (3/27/17)

Har is such the little hero! Dead asleep, I began having an allergic reaction. It could have been very serious as I am sleeping alone for the next two weeks while Judd is away for training. But Harlow suddenly planted her fluffy, 70-pound self on top of me to wake me up! Because of her good deeds, I was able to reach my friends who aborted my episode with IV Benadryl. We had an exciting adventure yesterday with Disney, but between that and the reaction today is a definite rest day. Thank you so much for joining us on our adventure!

    I know this is an older vlog, but I got choked up when you said "intelligent disobedience". Such a GOOD GIRL, Harlow!! You take such good care of your Jaquie!! *ahem* Sorry I praised and floppy--petted your GOOD GIRL over the internet. I mean, she's not MY Service Dog, nor did I train her, but I DO have to say that she is singlehandedly changing my opinion of purebred Golden Retrievers. And I am also so impressed with your training of her, partially because I know she wasn't your first or second dog in line for training. Anyway...I love watching your vlogs, you have an excellent presence and elocution and realness that makes a great combination and makes your vlogs a pleasure to watch. You'll probably be married before you see this, so, HAPPY MARRIAGE to you and Judd and The Harlow Hippo!!!

    You go Harlow! My dog Delta wakes me from apnea fits and nocturnal panic attacks. Intelligent disobedience...she's not allowed on the bed without being invited, and we've never taught her to wake me from those...but she knows it's not right and gets up anyway. Our pups rock!

We just started Raw two months ago, and it is great so far Your Vlogs surely are so beneficial, & the negatives that are helpful 'great' to have the feedback, & the rest do not have to watch. LOL

    Because of learning from your vlogs and stories you post on instagram, I'm accepting my chronic illnesses more and more and I'm not ashamed of them as much as I used too. I'v also started thinking about getting a service dog to help me with my anxiety and when I get incapacitating flares from my chronic illnesses. I'm going to talk to my therapist tomorrow and my dr next week. I hope to continue to see your journey with friends and family, and wish you an amazing day.

    I am so thankful you do these videos. It makes me feel less alone in my battle with POTS. You are doing such a great job vlogging and bringing awareness about chronic illnesses. I also think you do a great job encouraging people to be advocates for themselves and never tell people what and what not to do. If anyone gives you a hard time they are just grumpy people. Keep up the wonderful work :-)

    I have a severe food allergy to cinnamon, and just the one reaction I've had this week was exhausting and took me like 2 days to recover. You're amazing to be able to push through all of these setbacks. I've had 2 reactions in 2017 and I am praying that I don't have any more ever again. The worst part for me is that I don't have an Epipen so my mom has to crush Benadryl up into a glass of juice and I have to force myself to drink it quickly. It's so gross, and I'm lucky that we caught the reactions before my throat closed up.

    Yahoo Harlow, good job on saving JB! Yeah cooked foods and raw foods are great for pups, dogs and people, just need the right stuff, go nature go. As for Harlow you can buy raw or human grade dog food, also your cooked food is easy too. I know how it gets, its hard, but after a little bit you can do it. When you are ready you will see it can help you and your dog, just keep trying. I must strongly disagree on expense of raw, the medical problems your dog will experience early on eating kibble is heartbreaking and very costly, ask anyone who has gone through it(personally had that heartache and know of others). Please pray on it some more and do more research and see where and how they make the kibble, the chemicals in that bag is not something you should be exposed to. Always so much fun watching you all, fast forward makes it very funny and cute. Glad you vlog and share, we help each other greatly. Don't get down on criticism, it is all about learning and how we do it. Humans are unique because we can share and sometimes show care in strange ways, but what doesn't break you makes you stronger so keep up the good work. Sometimes the criticism does come across weird because it is just quick notes here being typed, as always keep it up, you do a lot of good and you are very good at it. When you feel better and life is more predictable you would make a great coach for others, whether it is OT or something else, you have gotten very good at the vlogs. Never give up it is a gift, something to be very thankful for. Just learn what you can and remember perhaps one day you may have a patient or a client that struggles greatly and is very sarcastic, but really just in pain and needs your positivity that you always have even in pretty tough moments. Many continued blessings to and all of yours!

    1:34 I can't help but wonder how you trained Harlow to react to that. Or...is this one of the things a dog either reacts to or does not? 2:34 I recognize that term because of my interest in artificial intelligence. 4:32 I couldn't really understand what she said here and at the end.

  • @randomthatsme1

    @randomthatsme1

    7 жыл бұрын

    Jade Mawhinney it's useful for really crowded areas! It's also a good way to teach rear end awareness! Dogs forget that they have back legs, so you need to teach and train them that they're there. Mainly for service dogs, it's awesome to teach them to maneuver through crowds. It's also great for waiting in lines. I put my pup in between my legs when we are waiting in line, because that way we don't take up too much space. 😊

    Jaquie, I am so happy and excited I found your channel. I was diagnosed with POTS at the beginning of the year, but have been battling my symptoms for the past 6 or 7 years; and I have just started one medicine for it, without much success. I was wondering if you had any tips, also I was curious what your infusion does for you? My doctor(cardiologist) told me there isn't many ways to treat this disorder. Any guidance or recommendations would be so much appreciated. Also, I am trying to get a puppy to train as a service dog. I am going to meet the puppies in the litter in a week (they are 3 weeks old) to see if any have good temperaments for becoming a service dog. You and Hippo are really inspiring to me. Thanks for helping me gain some incentive to be an advocate for myself. Stay in good health! :-)
