That scene where Korra is staring down over the cliff in the ice after having her bending taken away by Amon, I believe she was ready to end her life by jumping so that the avatar cycle could continue. Before Aang showed up to restore her bending, we see one of her tears, a single drop that was meant to resemble her, falling down the side of the cliff, probably foreshadowing what she might have done if not for Aang. This scene hit me tremendously hard. Korra believed she was useless in that moment, that because she was no longer able to bend, she was no longer the avatar. She really was at her lowest point.

That's the reason she cries in the end of that episode.

It's just that she can't talk to them or get those rare spiritual reincarnation events like roku in his temple or kyoshi at the trial. Sure she also loses the overkill aspect of the avatar state, but that will rarely matter because it's still the avatar state lol. If anything her losing her bending or the consequences of leaving the spirit portals open were way bigger screw ups with way bigger consequences, and things that you could actually feasibly blame her for.

There’s this very cute moment in the recent comic for Korra where she is consoling Jinora on some stress. You basically hit the nail on the head of what she says there. She lost some aspects but she learned a lot too. And she is still Korra despite everything.

  • @felicity9644
    @felicity96444 жыл бұрын

Quarantine got me back here and it gave me emotions. Rewatching ATLA right now and this music and scene is hitting harder. You really get to feel how bittersweet it is. Korra sacrifices everything to save the Air Nomads, and let's note that she legitimately asked Zuko sometime before this what Aang would do in this situation. Just put all the pieces together. In this scene, you're watching Jinora become the first master airbender in a generation, and not only that, but there are more airbenders around her than there had been in over 100 years. This directly stems from Aang's influence of course, but it stems from Korra's too. She continued the Avatar legacy. She took Zuko's advice but made it her own. She was broken because a man devastated her. She did it all for them, yet she lost something in return. And honestly I think this scene embodies what it means to be an Avatar. Every Avatar cannot be fully human, because they are a spirit too. They cannot fully embody what they want in life, because it would be selfish for the world. Yet, they do it. They sacrifice and they win, but they lose at the same time. With every lifetime, the cycle continues because there is always something to fix. Korra in this scene is happy because she has helped restore balance, but she cannot bear to show it because she lost something of herself that was too great. I could go on and on.

This soundtrack really puts, in perspective, the trauma Korra had to go through throughout the first 3 seasons. Aang suffered too but Korra had to endure the full brunt of everything put before her. Hence Aang's story is so much more warm because his friends had such a huge role in terms of emotional support, literally the power of friendship. But for Korra, she had some serious weight to hold. End of Book 3 to 4, the directors really captured her being of broken but not out. I specifically remember that moment she stared into the cracked mirror, reflecting who she was.

“Now, let us anoint the master who will help lead us in our new path.” With those words, Tenzin pulled his daughter Jinora’s hood back from her face to reveal her accomplishment: her arrow tattoos. Her hair had been shaved in order to imprint a large blue arrow on her head that extended down her neck and forehead. The arrows also extended down her shoulders and arms, stopping on her hands. The blue arrows represented an air bending master, an accomplishment Tenzin trained his daughter for since she was small. As he observed his daughter standing before the new air acolytes and friends, he reminisced the days when he was being trained to become an air bending master prior to his tattoo ceremony. .... “Dad, why do I have to learn all these techniques and traditions anyway?” Young Tenzin didn’t understand the large responsibility that he was being trained for. He was the air nomads’ existence and the Avatar cycle’s last hope for balance. Aang simply smiled at his youngest son as he placed a hand around his shoulder. “My son. You see, someday, you’ll have to train me with these techniques and traditions. You’re the hope for future air nomads.” Tenzin was perplexed. “Train you? How do I train you, dad? I don’t get it.” Aang chuckled as he held his son close. “Not me myself, Tenzin. But someday, you’ll have to train the next Avatar which is essentially me.. in my next life.”

terry sajere The moment Jinora’s hood comes back makes me emotional because she resembles Aang so much. It almost reminds me of a rebirth of him or a reflection of the past in the hope for the future. Aang is such a well written character, and he captured the hearts of so many. Truly an amazing show.

Today, we welcome the first airbending master in a generation. And I couldn't be more proud of my daughter. [Jinora looks up and smiles.] When the existence of our people was threatened, when the Avatar's life hung in the balance, Jinora never gave up hope. Thanks to her leadership, I see a very bright future for the Air Nation. Of course, there would be no Air Nation without Avatar Korra: she opened the portals and somehow the world began anew for us. And she was even willing to lay down her own life in order to protect ours. There's no way we can ever repay her for all she's done. But we can follow her example of service and sacrifice. So while she recuperates, the Air Nation will reclaim its nomadic roots and roam the earth. [Pan to the airbenders, revealing Ryu within the group.] But unlike our ancestors, we will serve people of all nations, working wherever there is corruption and discord to restore balance and peace. Avatar Korra, I vow that we will do everything in our power to follow in your footsteps and bring harmony to the world. [Tenzin bows to Korra, who bows back.] Now, let us anoint the master who will help lead us in our new path.

I personally like both shows equally. I can relate to both Aang and Korra. Aang being a kid, someone who has so much pressure put on him to be this perfect person but still is goofy despite his tremendous loss. Korra being a girl who strives for perfection never giving up until she couldn’t do it anymore, going through depression, ptsd, anxiety, etc. being poisoned(for me it’s more emotional poisoning while her it was physical lol) and feeling like she couldn’t do it anymore. I love both shows and they will always have a special place in my heart

I think it is so clear that Jinora is the MVP of seasons 2 and 3. Her character acted as a voice of both conscious and spirituality for the series. The development of her bending and leadership abilities was probably the most touching aspect of this show for me. She didn't use overwhelming power or particularly took advantage of the antagonists to get the better of them. It was her spiritual energy and quick thinking that saved Korra (twice!) and helped reinvigorate the air nation. When I see this scene, I can't control my emotions in the slightest bit when I see the resemblance and echoes of avatar Aang during her coronation.

This soundtrack could legitimately work as the fundamental definition of bittersweet. Just listen to those chords . . . positive and negative, so different and opposite, yet they work ABSOLUTELY PERFECT with each other. I'm calling it as it is: Service and Sacrifice is the finest, most well-made, and most meaningful original score in this series and its predecessor, and THAT is saying something.

Korra on the other hand is more about the drama and action and the suspense of every episode. And for me I absolutely love both of those things. And it's better than most of the crap you see on television today. That's why three years later after korra ended I can't stop watching both shows. I walked up and grabbed my certificate at the graduation of my advanced individual training for my job in the Army. As i did that, i didn't really have a lot on my mind beyond not screwing up the facing movements, but i when i listen to this song now i remember the shit relationship i was in, how awful it was and how it ended while i was in Basic combat training. I think of all the people i lost in terms of friendships over decisions that i made, but i also think about how i found and made newer friendships, developed new skills, found God, and overall developed as a person that is a far cry from who i was before i joined the Army. i listen to this song, and remember grabbing that certificate remembering my struggles in AIT and the personal hills i overcame, I remember all the time i sacrificed and all the effort i put in to become who i am now, and this song is the only piece that can encapsulate the feeling of ascension through sacrifice. Its bitter sweet...

Honestly I'm trying my best to find the words to explain how emotional and powerful this scene is In LOK. The air nation were on the brink of Extinction when the Fire Nation caused mass Genoside. Aang clung onto life for 100 years in the iceberg and when he woke up he finds out almost everyone he knew was dead and his people and culture had been wiped from the face of the earth. Imagine feeling that pain and loneliness. Fast forward to Jinoras ceremony when this plays as she's unveiled as An Airbending master as the new air nation bend the smoke as they make the wind chimes ring in the breeze. Imagine how proud Aang would be of his Kids, Grandkids and Korra, and how emotional it would have been to see his people and culture reborn like this. I'm a grown man and i can't watch this scene without tearing up because its just so beautiful. Anyone who hates LOK for not being a Carbon copy of ATLA is entitled to thier opinion but i just wish you could see this series for the true beauty it is. Its honestly so important in continuing the Avatar story and World we grew to love during ATLA. Such is life we all grow older and have to accept change whether we like it or not. The world continues on around us regardless. And thats what happens in LOK and im just ao gratefull we were blessed with this masterpiece of a sequel to one of the greatest shows of all time.

The end of book 3 tears me to shreds every time I watch it. From the beginning as a child, she had been isolated from a normal life, all focus put on being the Avatar. It seems as though Korra was always put through the motions of the decisions of others, and always fighting for her individual say. Zaheer is the greatest villain of this show. He brings out Korra's feelings of helplessness and makes her question her purpose as a living being and as an Avatar. So when she is poisoned, when the Avatar cycle is ended by Zaheer, Korra feels that her entire purpose has ended. That she is not only "worthless" but also the cause of the loss of the avatar. It is heartbreaking to see her with tears in her eyes after being tortured. Yes, she was victorious against Zaheer. But she sacrificed so much for it.

Quarantine got me back here and it gave me emotions. Rewatching ATLA and LOK right now and this music and scene is hitting harder. You really get to feel how bittersweet it is. Korra sacrifices everything to save the Air Nomads, and let's note that she legitimately asked Zuko sometime before this what Aang would do in this situation. Korra showed her ways of service and sacrificed to show that she would do anything to save the new Airbenders. In a way this relates to our world too right now. How the doctors and nurses would stop at nothing to save patients, even if it means risking their lives.

if i might add my opinion, i think the beginning is too slow, and the pauses/rests dont help, the middle is where it begins to take shape and sound so beautifully emotional, but the ending is the best part, both musically and in relation to the show. the first and only time we see it, the 2:18 part marks the reveal of jinorra as the new air bending master, and ends with the shot of korras face broken down and crying. it simultaneously brings joy and sadness, with a few notes, and thats why i think its the best part

It was so interesting to rewatch the whole show this fall. Watching it back this fall made me see what she was going through differently. Everyone says she started out as so cocky and overconfident. Maybe she was a little bit, but overall it seemed like she was doing what she was doing because she was so full of doubt and insecurity. She kept trying so hard to be the Avatar that she thought she needed to be. That's what she'd be raised to be, what she was expected to be her whole life. They literally raised her isolated in a compound for exactly that purpose. I think she felt like being the Avatar was the only identity that she'd ever had and could ever have. It's why she became so suicidal and despondent whenever she felt like she could no longer fill that role such as at the end of seasons one and three. I think when she finally accepted that it was okay for her to be vulnerable, to be human, and that she could be more than just the Avatar that she really became as strong as she'd always wanted to be. It makes for a nice complement to Aang's story. He tried so hard to hold onto to his humanity and Korra tried so hard to be the Avatar at the expense of it and they both found their peace somewhere in the middle.

I swear I don’t know how Jeremy does it because his music is perfect. He encapsulates every emotion in this scene. Just like the title service(talking about the air nations new duty) and sacerfice(talking about korras sacerfice to bring those people back). It’s the same with the musics you combine this successful happy feeling with a looming sadness and by the end as korra tears drip down her face your just confused with the mid of emotions. It’s perfect

The scene with Jinora getting her tattoos made me bawl my eyes out, everything is just so damn emotional. The birth of a new culture, the victorious but broken Korra, the proud father and of course Jinora getting the tattoos. Such a great scene and ending. I wish everyone out there the best of love and luck in the world!

I honestly love this music and at first I didn’t know what all the hype was about when I hadn’t watched season 3 yet, but it is the most beautiful music right along with the ending theme. I actually cried from this because of how much feeling it brought to me. I just love LOK.❤️

I always know that being an Avatar, even as a member of the current Avatar's team, is not all rainbows and sugar. But the finale of Book 3 really shows the brutal reality of that sentiment.
