    So happy with the performance & price of this RTR RC! I also have Cobra 811te RTR (modified) and it's hands down my favorite RC! The diffs are incredible....2 years running 811te and finally time for rebuild (after learning to properly shim & hard bashing) great video man!

    Cool looking buggy! I always wanted the 1/8 Cobra Be but they were out of stock all the time. Guess this one replaced it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, if I Remember correctly from Serpents website, I think most of their cars are made in China for quite some time now. Nonetheless, my most recent Serpent Buggy still screams quality but slightly different feel than their older onroad stuff.

    Yes, Serpent has been headquartered in China, but it is very much an International effort. Michael Salven still leads Design and Development of the On-Road Nitro, and the entire Off-Road lineup (SRX-8, including the on-road GT variant, SRX2 and SRX4 Spyders) were designed and developed by Billy Easton. They also recently hired a former engineer from Yokomo to continue development of their 1/10th on-road touring cars. I have to agree with the assessment that Serpent does have quality products - I own their 1/10th On-road cars (X20 '21, X20 '23, and 750 EVO), and the quality of the components is there. What they are lacking at the moment is the marketing muscle and a very small stable of driving talent, compared to some of the other companies on the market. That of course, hurts their competitiveness here in the US.

    HoBao Hyper VS2 is at a very high standard of quality of CNC 7075 , and it's handling is still sublime . For the SERPENT to run 6S , you still need the 150 amp hobbywing ESC . they come standard with deans because they are only running 3 or 4S out of the box .

  • @VestedUTuber

    The Hyper VS2 is a good option as well, only thing is that it's a bit outdated, HoBao hasn't come out with a new platform since OFNA went under. That shouldn't matter too much unless you're racing at national-level events, though, and if you are you probably should be running a kit, not an RTR.

    Hello my friend this is definitely in my price range probably below it. Money is no issue for my new rc to get back into the hobby but my question is what is your opinion about the serpent truggy I noticed it's like close to 700 bucks US. Is it worth the price since you seem to be very knowledgeable with this brand.

  • @mzondi1970
    @mzondi1970 Жыл бұрын

    I was looking at picking up one of these I am in the US so I know parts are sometimes hard to get with the other brand I enjoy kyosho their parts are hard to get as well. I'm not a racer nor really a basher I like to have just fun with my friends I don't do any crazy flying through the air jumps I take good care of my stuff. Be killed show I'm looking at is their entry level ve 3.0 they're only about $30 difference. Which one would you pick based on what I told you I plan on doing with it I do have a local track but I don't race so I will take it over to that track and sometimes but local dirt bicycle tracks as well. Sorry for the long answer question I mean that I'm pretty particular when it comes to spending my heart and money. I've had Kyosho inferno 9 and it was recently stolen. But I don't have tons of extra kyosho parts laying around so purchasing the kyosho when that benefit me in that capacity the ve 3.0 looks quite a bit more cheaply made than this car it's not kyosho's top end for sure any help would be appreciated

    I bought this just weeks ago after 2 years of hiatus from rc. I'm not really into racing but there's few community tracks around my area so I wanted a car that can be moderately bashed at my backyard but also doesn't embarrass me on track. For the price, this is wayyy better than Traxxas Rally that I owned previously while being only slightly more expensive. My only complaints are related to the stock esc. The switch is not really waterproof as I had it wet by water splashing for 2 times and they're not working anymore (doesn't register throttle and Set button not working). The program card is hard to find here and there's no support for HV servo. No big deal, instead of repairing the switch,I replaced it with hobbywing max8 that comes with program card out of the box. I can't really comment on how it perform on track but after about 3 hours of running on track and done some adjustment, I'm a lot more comfortable to drive the car fast with more precision on track compared to my Traxxas Rally before. Besides, being a beginner, the ability to run saddle layout with 2 set of 2s lipo instead of 1 big 4s lipo is very good considering I can use the same battery for my small 2s basher car. So hopefully more beginner will take notice of this car as I watched a few reviews on TLR Typhon where a lot of reviews said it's a good entry point for racing but after bought the Serpent, I think it's a more sensible choice.

    Compared to a typhon 3s this var is way less powerful. Running on 4s and stock 14t pinion, the top speed is 37mph. Its a lot harder to find spare parts. Its not as durable. It is a better track machine. But you are very wrong to compare it against the typhon 6s 😅. The best 1/8 rtr is by far the kyosho mp10e readyset. It's better than the serpent in every possible way..

    the stock shock towers on the SERPENT suck , because they are weak and bend if come off a jump wrong and land on the front shocks . That's why the new HoBao Hyper VS2 is a better RC race buggy , it has thick CNC machined 7075 alloy parts .

  • @VestedUTuber

    @VestedUTuber

    If you're landing bad enough to destroy the shock towers on a 1/8th scale buggy frequently enough that it's an issue you probably should take some time off of actively racing to practice air control. I have had multiple cars from different brands and never had issues with shock towers breaking from landing on the lid. Not even on an original release Duratrax Evader, and Duratrax was notorious for their plastic composites being brittle.

    Talks crap about how much better the dual 2S style battery trays are than a single 4S pack for weight distribution and when not... Serpent SRX8E pro comes out with a single 4S pack layout as the primary option lmao. P.s. Authentic Dean's connectors are probably the lowest resistance to weight connectors on the rc market. Fantom racing "the battery and motor company" actually tested the difference between 5 mm bullet plugs and extremely short wires coming out of a battery pack with a Dean's plug. The Dean's plug had lower resistance numbers and was better for stock or spec class racing.

    Why people actually keep buying so much ARRMA, when there are so many diff issues??!

  • @VestedUTuber

    @VestedUTuber

    5 ай бұрын

    It's because apart from the diffs, for bashing the only thing more durable than an ARRMA is a Tekno, but Tekno doesn't make an RTR. Also, I question whether the issue with ARRMA's diffs is entirely the car's fault, the people who buy those tend to like to send their cars off massive jumps and don't always realize that a heavy car landing on throttle is probably going to mess up the car.

  • @xsixinfantryx
    @xsixinfantryx Жыл бұрын

    It's sad that anybody would bring a car into a hobby shop to have a differential rebuilt. That's what happens when there's so many RTR's out there. People don't know how to work on their own stuff. When I was a kid doing this in the late 80's, if you couldn't build a kit, you were either out of luck or your going to buy yourself a Golden Arrow at Radio Shack.

    The motor in the SRX8-E RTR is a 1900kv motor, the Apollo comes with a 2050kv motor. If you want more speed you'll have to put in a more powerful motor, that being said the ESC on the SRX8-E is beefier than the one in the Apollo so you can probably go up to a 2350kv.

    @@van_r2222 I mean it can handle a higher current draw. It's rated at 120 amps vs 100 amps for the Apollo's. In turn that means it should be able to handle a beefier motor, within reason.
