I remember watching this match live and I really thought Serena was gonna lose . This was a classic Queen comeback
There will never be another. Serena time and time again showed the world never to consider her down and out for the count.

It's so funny how Serena clearly didn't want to play under the direct sun. She kept finding excuses to retreat into the comfort of the shade. Once there was cover, she was able to focus on raising her level. At 5-3 K-Mart thought she had the match & took her foot off the gas just a little. It was enough for Serena to snatch the whole match out from under her like a custom hair unit at synthetic wig prices.
May we have the full match between Alize Cornet and Dinara Safina where Safina saved two match point before winning 7/5 in the third ?
What a shame Svetlana couldn’t close it out would have been an all Russian SF Safina vs Zvonareva and Dementieva vs Kuznetsova 😢
