One of the highest peaks, remarkable longevity, perhaps the most influential player ever, and her resume would be on that level too had she not faced Serena so many times. Venus vs Serena question: Is Venus an aggressive counter puncher compared to Serena an offensive baseliner… I frequently feel Venus relied frequently on her movement, whilst Serena is equally a good mover, her mentality towards the game, e.g. ultra aggressive, on serve, return, using angles made her a superior player. Can someone tell me there opinion

  • @mem4

    @mem4

    Жыл бұрын

    Venus better movement, Serena is just better with her consistency! Venus hit to many unforced errors. That’s the major difference in their game. Over the years Serena lowered her unforced but Venus didn’t do much.

  • @mem4

    @mem4

    Жыл бұрын

    And to add, obviously the serve. Venus first serve is faster. Serena can be equally fast but has better placement. Second serve is the big difference. It’s a strength for Serena but I believe it’s Venus weaker part of her game.

  • @thb1091

    @thb1091

    6 ай бұрын

    Not sure I'd go as far as to label Venus a counterpuncher because I do think she was an ultra-assertive player at heart but you are right in the sense that Venus frequently relied on her unparalleled defensive/lateral movement to rally for a bit *then* generate an opportunity to go on the offensive whereas Serena was all about taking charge from the get-go (part of this is attributable to a difference in skill rather than approach though) and excelled more in offensive/forward movement. I think their respective H2Hs against a player like Hingis in the early-00s perfectly capture these subtleties - Serena had her way with Martina in a way that Venus never quite did because unlike Venus, Serena gave her 0 room to rally.

  • @iceman0187

    @iceman0187

    28 күн бұрын

    S is a counter(feeds off ur shot/create angles)puncher who happens to be extraordinary at everything. V aggressive/power game(wears both players out).S hits/serves around u(keeps u on toes). V hits/serves through u(easier to catch a groove vs her).V illness affected her game on every level(game depended on unmatched athletic skills/used to spend 15 mins on 1 game if needed). Serena superior serve gave her ultra confidence. V mental is pretty strong but can't b compared to S. Body type plays apart 2(tall/short,slim/thick,movement/footwork/reach...).Anything V is better at than S is irrelevant because S is SO GOOD in those same categories. S has better technique in majority categories. Though not perfect i think around 2009-17 V was poised to contest S & other top players if not for her illness. I personally watch V highlights @ a 9-1 ratio because I love her game more than S, but admit S is way better. Also S would've lost this final vs any other player/ V maybe would've won this vs any other player
