This is my favorite reaction from you two to date period. I’ve been head banging to Sepultura for 30 years now. I remember when the big four were announced I said Bull Shit!!! Swap out Anthrax and input Sepultura. I still feel that way today. Long live Sepultura 💪🏼💪🏼

I've said it elsewhere, and I'll say it again here: for me, the "Big Four" would be Sepultura, Celtic Frost, Voivod, and Coroner. And, this particular era of Sepultura's career was, to me, the high point of this band's career: they did some great music after the "Schizophrenia", "Beneath the Remains" and "Arise" albums, and some great music before then (I'm a sucker for proto-black metal era Sepultura), but this thrash-metal era Sepultura was particularly excellent stuff, and never went off my main playlist over the decades (has it really been 30 years? How time has flown since the late '80s and early '90s! I still remember like it was yesterday hearing these albums the first time and realizing "the other thrash bands are OK, but THIS is something special!")

Sepultura did this back in the 90's it's called New Titans on the block and they are with Scared Reich, Napalm Death and Sick of it all....great show!!!

Definitely with you Raul my man, fuck Anthrax hail Sepultura! Then again I'm not that fond of Megadeth either but that's harder to swap. I'd switch in one of the German greats (Sodom or Kreator... or Celtic Frost) anyday.

Man do I ever love your breadth of musical influences!!! I thought that I was out there, but Rich, you are on my plane! I saw Sepultura around 1991 at the Cleveland Agora. My brother and I took seats in the balcony to watch the openers. Suddenly Max Cavalera appeared behind us a couple of rows back. I took the opportunity to congratulate him on the success of the band and to welcome him to Cleveland. We chatted for a few minutes before I returned to my seat. He was a very gracious man. The show was what you may have seen in the Barcelona live videos. Simply scary live. Igor, the drummer stopped the show mid song and threw his sticks into the crowd, pointing out a couple of people in the pit who were getting too violent. Security soon escorted the 2 out. Amazing, amazing music!!!

"Speechless" is a damned good way to describe Dead Embryonic Cells, and the Arise album as a whole. I first heard it right after my initial introduction to death/thrash metal. It was 1993, and I had just reached the ripe old age of 13. I was totally blown away, I had never heard ANYTHING like Sepultura before. Even now, 26 years later, I still don't have a word for how great this album is.

Saw Sepultura live back in 1992 here in Portugal. I opened my eyebrow when I head-clashed with some guy. Came home with 5 or 6 stitches. What a night…. :-)

Once again I'm glad to see that our hosts can't help but to be open and honest. It is for that reason I believe they don't struggle with what is real and most important, truth. It's with that aspect I can sum up their reaction with just one word....moving. First off, this song is a champion of what metal is or should be which is quite....moving, Kel's classically beautiful and possesses an open minded outlook on life that exemplifies her love for music and for Rich which is....moving, Rich's love for music, love for Kel, love for life but especially his love for his son....moving.

The band that got me into metal when i was 12, the Arise album was my first love.

I remember seeing them live back in those days. They supported a band called Sodom in Europe. 45 minutes, and no one needed another band after this explosion. This was pure energy without any chance to take one breath between.

Sepultura are awesome. Arise is a brilliant album of pure thrash, I have had many a sore neck from thrashing out to it back in the day (I am a couple of years younger than you but not many). Loving what you guys are doing and the reasons you are doing it. Now I need to add some information about my #painintheask : Alien Weaponry are a trio of boys (yes boys, currently 16, 17 and 19) from New Zealand who do thrash type metal similar to Sepultura but use Te Reo Maori lyrics in some of their songs (such as the one I am requesting). The boys have been together for close to about 8 or 9 years and in 2017 won a cultural arts competition with their song Re Ana Te Whenua and got to record the video for it. (which I think is a slightly better song but the Kai Tangata video tips the balance in its favour) I saw them about 2 weeks ago, front row, (same gig as Slayer) and they blew everyone away, they were second on the main stage just after lunch and the crowd they drew was huge for so early in the day, like 15-20k people. #painintheask Alien Weaponry - Kai Tangata #NewZealandKids #thefutureofmetalisingoodhands

My deepest condolences on your loss :( Great reaction guys! Sepultura from Brazil, Sao Paolo if I am correct. Got into them in the 80s along with Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica. Max and Igor Cavalera started that band. They have since moved on to other projects but they left a great legacy with Sepultura. Rich, you and I are about the same age and grew up with a lot of the same music. Another band I have been loving and so impressed with is Gojira from France. Any song on Magama is amazing but the title track is exceptional. Thanks again for sharing.
