    Wanted to pin this tip from @royverweij3776 for those printing my modded magnetic clip, use the Detect Thin Wall option (under Strength tab in Bambustudio and Layers and Perimeters/Quality in PrusaSlicer).

    Edit: They did add a test print option of an entire room. Go check it out, prints great! I think it would help if they could put a 'try this print' piece on their kickstarter. Right now it appears the only free thing they offer for people to print at home to see the quality is the clips, which hardly sells the set. A single brick/interior wall piece, or one of the small scatter pieces like the crumpled rubbish bin, would be super nice not only to see the detail, but for me how it prints in my resin printer since that's what I'd be using. I'll still back, but so many STL kickstarters these days offer a sample piece, it seems like a good call as that is usually how I decide (though a glowing review from gaminggeek will always beat that out).

    Wow, as a long-time HeroClix player, I would have KILLED for this 10 years ago as I always wanted a great way to play on 3D maps. 1.5" grid is exactly perfect for this. In the past, I actually converted to HeroScape terrain out of desperation.

    I recently purchased Marvel Zombies. Was really impressed with the sculpts. And it has a heap of expansions which I’m looking forward to getting. I think X Men resistance will be next. I also purchased Crisis Point recently for an absolute steal. Brand new $80 AU. About $53 US. I also have a whole heap of Marvel STL’s I could also incorporate. Looking forward to building them all and painting them.

    I've started printing my own city. Its more complicated than I expected. I couldn't find a print list, so I'm just printing lots and lots of parts to get started...and the sample buildings. I'm considering getting a second printer to assist...is Bambu Labs still your recommendation? I have my Prusa Pete guy printing 24/7. He does a good job...but its 12-15 hours per piece or tray.

    This is hard to answer because I am printing multiple projects at the same time on my four FDM machines so can't isolate how much time/filament this one project took. I'll guesstimate about two and a half weeks of printing on three machines and two weeks of painting (in the evenings and weekends) give or take a week.

    Ok, I see you have Marvel Crisis Protocol figures, but the scale is off. As someone who plays this primarily, how much would I scale this up to? Is it similar to some of the other terrain sets out there and I scale it to 126%? These buildings look really good (as well as the ground and street tiles) and I would love to see something scaled for MCP. Any chance you could do a few test tiles and buildings as well?

    To get the clips to print correctly on your Bambu you might want to use the .2mm nozzle, I notice it prints small things like this better. Are you already using that or are you using the .4mm? It might be worth it to install the .2mm nozzle, print a ton of the clips, then switch it back.

    Yes, the regular ball clip magnets print fine--I think it might be because I modded it so the disc magnets will go flush against the side with the hole to maximize magnetic connection. But might have made the wall thinner than .4mm.

    @@gaminggeek241 If you have a .2mm nozzle you could give it a try and make a note of it in the folder on Dragons Rest where your custom files are. I don't use it much but when I have something like that fail I throw it in just for the small part my bambu is having trouble with.

    I’ve printed loads of Ian’s clips with my Bambu and rarely do I run into an issue. Are you sure you have the Detect Thin Wall option checked under the Strength tab in Bambustudio? Without it it won’t print out single line walls. That would also explain why a 0.2mm gets rid of that problem.

    I am relatively new to 3D Terrain Kickstarter. Is 45K to get all the stretch goals feasible? I was looking at past campaigns from other creators and saw that they hover around $20K-$25K.

  • @gaminggeek241

    @gaminggeek241

    It's hard to say. Remember though that this is in Australian dollars--$45K Australian is $30K USD. That's still high but stretch goals are meant to be aspirational. Also, sometimes when stretch goals aren't unlocked, creators will make them available for sale after the campaign, especially if they are already produced but not sure if that is Ian's plans.

    Can you explain how this is different from everyone using clips for terrain? When I first got into 3D printing, Fat Dragon Games was one of the first to introduce clips for their dungeon tiles (or maybe it was Devon?) and then everyone else followed suit. Dungeon Blocks don't have modern terrain as an option. Also, isn't this what copyright laws are for? A grid to drop in blocks is so basic, it would be difficult to obtain a copyright limiting others from coming up with their own version (in the same vein as clips). As a consumer, I win when people iterate on good ideas and improve on them. All 3D printers are pretty much copied from the basic function but are different iterations with the market determining what is successful. Not trolling but wanting to honestly understand this line of thinking.
