Holy hell that was awesome. Agree with those in the chat about how cool it would be to see Senri with Hiromi. My heart races just thinking about it.

Senri is the best jazz drummer in the world. I have been watching her vids since she was 13. Senri is the real deal. The reincarnation of Buddy Rich.

Hi Shikata! NO! Senri is a WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN BUDDY RICH! I've seen and heard Buddy Rich live, multiple times, before he died. Yes, he is technically an excellent drummer, however, Senri has technical capabilities that no other drummer that I have personally seen has! I'm 71. And, I'm a drummer. And, over my lifetime, I've seen a LOT of drummers! Now, I can't say that I've heard every drummer in the World. But, I can say that I've heard over 6000 drummers in my lifetime. I CAN, however, say that I have seen Jazz drummers that are every bit as good as Buddy Rich. Some of which, you have never heard of!

@@JoeSzilagy Hi Joe! Well Senri has another quality that Buddy never did, humility! It also says a lot about both you and Senri, that you're friends! When I was introduced to Buddy Rich in 1972, he was extremely rude and condescending. His Bass player, Paul, took piety on me and we played together for 6 months.

No. Senri is more of a percussion soloist that makes well rehearsed licks to midi music. But drummer? No. The "music" she plays is really uninteresting fanfares only made to impress an audience similar to a circus number. Many listeners seems impressed by her complicated and fast licks but I never heard anyone who is listening to her because of her music. Buddy Rich? ...

@@magnushallin3640 Well, I listen to her because of her Music! I've been following her career since she was 11. I've seen her solo, perform with others, function as a section musician. I've seen her play Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, Metal, Fusion, Pop, so I'd say she has a pretty diversified background in Music. Maybe you should check out her performances with Rie, or Triangle, or the Jazz Avengers. Her Music collaborators are too numerous to count. But, Who are you? Are you a drummer? Are you a musician? What background do you have? Are you a student of Music? Are you a student of the fine arts? What do you base your conclusions on? Senri amazes me! I can't figure out three quarters of what she does. I'm a drummer. I've been playing for 61 years. My drum and percussion teachers include such people as Bill Laverack, John Kassica, and Jeff Seitz. My other music teachers include: Dr. Thomas Wilt, Ted Melian, Pat Curcio, Ed Wasserman. So, what's your expertise?

Hi from France: The musicians who accompany Senri in this combo "Senri Kawaguchi Triangle", Philippe Saisse (k) and Armand Sabal-Lecco (b), are musicians from the French jazz fusion scene and recorded a CD with Senri (Hard & Sweet CIDER -2016) which they extended with a tour together from which came the DVD/BR "Senri Kawaguchi Triangle Live (In Yokohama 2017) from which this live video is taken. The same year, Senri was invited by Francis Décamps (co-founder with his brother Christian of the French rock-prog band Ange in the 70s and 80s) to play on the curious tribute album to the "Symphony of the New World" by Dvorak: The Gift (2016). That aside, I have been an unconditional admirer of Senri for many years, solo, within Kiyo*Sen, or more recently "The Jazz Avengers"...

Senri Kawaguchi has been one of the top drummers in the world since about the age of 12. She’s 26 now. All the top players want time with her and has recorded with many of the greats. She has a number of excellent jazz fusion albums and is always in 4 or 5 groups / projects at a time. She even plays great hard rock prog fusion as well as straight on jazz. She did a lot of this while she attended college, too!! I've been following Senri for more than a decade and found Band-Maid through Senri. My list goes something like this: Senri the best all-round drummer - she stands out in any format or music. (Akane the best hard rock drummer); Band-Maid is the best Hard Rock band; The Warning the best original, trio rock band; Hiromi Uehara the best jazz fusion pianist; Yuja Wang the best classical pianist; and, Tatiana Smailyuk from Jinjer the best Metal vocalist -- amazingly, all women! Here's a 1-minute, drum-thunder by Senri Kawaguchi: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p46Bxrl-gZivd5s.html&lc= Quaratuned Music Fest: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nINsuM6ModqdlNI.html Triangle Live: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lHdk186uYKmXfJM.html There are many newer Senri videos to choose from. Three really great musicians. And to say it clear, two well known jazz actors like Philippe Saisse and Armand Sabal-Lecco, three times as old as Senri when doing that show, go on stage and make an album with a teenager, a schoolgirl, if you will! I mean, first class musicians like them would''t get on stage with a second class drummer. And Senri is first class, no doubt. This is great, the whole album is. My favorite number: Ginza Blues. Same show, same actors. Thanks for reacting and for to show, there are just some Jazz-Fans left around.

Hey Wave try this keyboard tip. For slo mo you can do it while video is playing or paused, so you don't have to go into the menu and fumble around. Press [shift] to slow down in increments of .25. It will display where you are at at the top of the screen (in the middle). You can hold the shift and hit the keys as fast or slow as you want. Only caveat is you had to be playing the video (which is normally where you are),, not using the keyboard to type elsewhere in the search box, comments etc.

There are a lot of edits in this video and after 1.37 in the original video, when the bass player is "waving" the bass he magically manages to take another tone on his bass without playing....at 2.41 in the original video, when the bass players fingers are in focus, you can see that the audio and video doesn't match. Senri and the keyboard player has in ears so that they can play to a prerecorded track. The audio or the video is edited afterwards - or both. The audience seem very small, maybe 20 people, which is also odd for a "live performance".

    - The venue (Motion Blue in Yokohama) seats 160 and it was definitely a full house that night. - This was part of a tour that started with a performance at the 2017 Tokyo Jazz festival which was televised. - Senri and Phillipe are using in-ear monitors to hear each other with reduced time delay between their instruments. - The video was captured by about 6 cameras which was merged together in post. Some sync issues may occur. - This event won Nissan Jazz Japan Award 2017 for Best Live Performance. - The full video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/paKrl6idht25aco.htmlsi=05L-1LrSoUDUL_oL

@@mknm1349 I prefer live music that is not processed by a computer. When the audio doesn't sound live something gets broken in the communication. It dont mean a thing - if it aint got that swing... I understand that commercial companies doesn't care about culture and want perfect commercials instead of music but then again - it doesn't mean a thing. I guess Nissan motor company and I have different perspective of what is a good live performance
