Sennheiser e602 Custom vs Sennheiser e602II

Музыка

The first iteration of the e602 had quite a boxy sound and was not very usable with no EQ. that's why the e602II has a more aggressive filter, so I tried to recreate it. The topend is not cut, on the e602 Custom, that's more or less the difference now.

I have two e602 MK1's, and they are great mics. The bottom end is huge, so you have to tame it in mixing, but all in all they sound more natural than Audix D6 for example. Haven't tried e602 MK2 though.

on my MK1's there was a lot less bass than in the MK2's so I changed the electronics in the MK1. Liebe Grüsse Benno Kaiser

Can you make a video showing what you did exactly? I have a Mk1 and it has a random static sound

I exchanged the built in filter to a more aggressiv one. Since I have sold the e602 Custom I can't make a video any more. Liebe Grüsse Benno

I'm not quite following -but, they did sound drastically different. I've heard that the 602ii is the one to buy...

The first version did sound really bad. So I replaced the filter. The filter of the e602II has not only a low boost but also a high cut and that high cut is missing in the pimped first version.

@@bennokaiser698 Ahhh, okay. I gotchu. Thanks. Have been using the SM7b on my kick for quite a while now, but haven't been totally satisfied. Doesn't cut through a dense mix without some real messing with it. Fantastic on quieter parts of the songs, though. I hate eq'ing and messing with stuff and aim to process ALL my tracks as little as possible, having the mics do all the work if I can help it... It's a bit easier to dial in a kick sound on the 7b than it is on my D112 (Never could get on with that thing -Super touchy. It's like one day I would have the kick drum from Heaven and then the next day I just couldn't do a thing with it. Super touchy mic), but still not super great. 7b does have a really nice natural quality to it, though. Just purchased a Samson q kick (I know, whatever. Got it for $30.) and an ATM 25 -The old one that everyone seems to like. Can't wait to try out some new combinations!

@@boobo3763 My standard is a e602II in the hole pointing at the beater and a D112 in the center of the resohead. The trick is not to record them separately, but rather on a single channel with a y-cable. So both mic capsules share the built in analog filter of the e602. That's it for me! Liebe Grüsse Benno
