Sennheiser updated the Ambeo firmware to 1.0.237 and also overhauled the Smart Control App. It now supports not only Chromecast, but also Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect and Apple AirPlay 2. They really care about their products.

Hi so if you watching a blu ray and select 5.1 soundtrack or 7.1 on blu ray settings before you play will the soundbar configure this out automatically and do you have to press the ambeo button to do this, Im just not sure is the ambeo button just an extra that when pressed give you and extra dimension, any information would be greatly appreciated as im considering purchasing but a little confused

Which Sub is best with this?

Nice lengthy review and explanation of this soundbar. With a price tag of $2500 it's a shame that a few years in the future someone will be ignorant to the value of it and treat it like trash.

@@tuckerdgreat but the quality of sound you get out of it - you will be amazed. The soundstage is right on point and the vocal clarity is superb. This soundbar is very theatrical in its sound and has a full EQ you can mess with. The best part of it all you can add any subwoofer youd like to the soundbar and it will calibrate it with the app.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST SOUND BAR FOR ANYBTV ON THE MARKET .NOTHING COMES CLOSE HOOK THIS SOUND BAR UP TO A DENNON OR YAMAHA 5.1 OR 7.1 RECEIVER WITH OLD STYLE YAMAHA 20 BAND EQUALIZER AND THIA WILL BLOW YOUR MIND.

If you wanted to add a subwoofer which one would you recommend?

Sennheiser Ambeo is better than the Yamaha in my opinion. Also Sony HT-ST5000 is a good sound bar with the eArc connectivity similar to Sennheiser.

Good morning I recently bought 1 sennheiser ambeo soundbar which I am really happy with. I would like to add 1 subw model svs sb4000 or svs pb4000 for more bass. I would like to ask you if by inserting one of these two models I can improve the bass sound more or given the high costs of the models described above, I only keep the soundbar? we are talking about € 2399 and € 2899. for this reason I ask you if by adding 1 subw I really gain from listening to both music and movies. If you have a very small room, you will hear less benefit, the larger the room, the more you will hear. In a medium sized room the 3000 series would be a good match. Thanks for watching

Wouldn't a system with dedicated surrounds like the nakamichi 7.2.4 soundbar provide a more realistic 3d sound stage?

Well, a rear speaker will always win than without a rear - the idea that this does almost as good as job is well worth it - let alone supports all audio codecs, 4 HDMI inputs, and you can hook up any subwoofer you want which kills the arcs sub by default and any soundbar sub as we speak. The vocal clarity, soundstage, and presence is wonderful - very theater oriented. Good overall sound. I agree the price should be max $2000, but you get the seinheisser logo and quality attached.

Well Sennhiser creates sound for professionals and JBL is just a consumer audio company so I would assume Ambeo is better.

It is not pronounced Sign-heisser like you've been pronouncing over and over! It is Senn-heiser!

Agree totally. Really annoying.

While the sound is good, in an open concept room 21' x 60' with the closest wall about 12' and ceiling height 10' directly overhead but 12' through most of the space, it fails to create an Atmos surround effect or even a 5.1 surround sound effect. Apparently, when the room is not rectangular with walls on each side and ceilings down to 8' to reflect sound, it just doesn't give the sound field and the separation isn't wide enough unless you are sitting very close to the speakers. At least this was my experience.

10ft high ceilings is as high as you want to go with any upfiring soundbar. Any higher it becomes distant in its sound. Also soundbars, mostly the expensive ones, tend to aim for room acoustics so its faux-sound coming from the sides. Rears thats come with soundbars will for sure give a more discrete sound by default but its not the same sound quality as this bar - ive tried 5 high end soundbars (samsung (n950, q80r, 950t), LG (lgns11rg), jbl 9.1, - the ambeo eats them all up. Again to address my point, a massive room like you mentioned - these top end soundbars i mentioned will fail because they heavily rely on room acoustics. Only specific rooms can handle them.

2 scenarios. Soundbar used is ambeo and tv is SONY XR A95( XR-65A95K) 1. If I connect amazon firestick 4k to hdmi in of the soundbar and then tv's hdmi earc port with hdmi out of soundbar via hdmi 2.1 cable, the sound of, let's say a movie on Netflix, isn't that great. 2. I connect amazon firestick 4k to any hdmi in port of TV. Tv 's hdmi earc port remains connected to hdmi out (earc) port of soundbar via hdmi 2.1 cable. And then I play movies on Netflix app of firestick 4k. Sound is completely different and better. I tested ambeo with these. In the first setting, even ambeo didn't sound great. What are your thoughts?

That should work fine. However, we have not tested it ourselves.

That is the main reason that kept me from buying. I combination with 2.1 HDMI requirement for uhd gaming with more than 60 frames this is a no go

Sorry, you can not. You are set up for a system using separate components. All sound bars with rear speakers use a wireless connection. Thanks for watching

Not a bad video, but no audio demonstration. Seems like you could demonstrate the 3D by pointing video and mike in different directions. Even with the poor quality of youtube over varying speeds it would be better than just standing there talking. Pure talk about sound is like describing a painting - thousands of words instead of a picture.

Cons? “MANY. But I don’t get paid to point those out.” Nice commercial!

@@AudioAdvice Thanks. A review should always have a list of cons. Always. Otherwise it is NOT a review but an advertisement. I would love to purchase this sound bar personally, but Bluetooth 4.2 at that price is literally the main reason I refuse to order it. I need it to have Bluetooth 5 or higher. Huge con. Is it possible to add some kind of a Bluetooth 5 receiver to it at all and make that work?? I love the sound quality but this drawback has me holding off from pulling the trigger on the purchase.

Get the Sonos Arc with Sub and One SL's and save money. Yes the AMBEO is good, but it doesn't support a sub or surrounds. Yes it's powerful, but it simply can't produce sound that will come from the sides/rear like surrounds can. It has base, but not like a dedicated Sub. If they come out with a sub and matched surrounds then yeah, take another look at this. Take my word, I've tested it out and the Sonos Arc setup can't be beat currently by anything else on the market when it comes to sound bars.

I think ambeo is overrated, Yamaha YSP5600 is able to produce rear sounds and still solid soundbar.

They would sale more alot more if was cheaper 1799.98 - 1999.99. I'm looking for sound bar to buy myself.However not at this price point. Ambeo would dominate in the field of sound bars, but Ambeo is too greeting in money. A person should not sacrifice their food and rent for this sound bar. I wonder if they would do a black Friday sale ???

I wouldn’t have paid retail but I got it at Neiman Marcus for around $1850.
