These dogs know they've been rescued. You can see it in their eyes and how they act. When I adopted my pitbull they brought her to the lobby, she came over sat down right in front of me and looked up at me as if to say "let's go home dad." I really think she adopted me lol. That was 8 yrs. Ago and she's been the best dog I ever had. A true loyal friend.

I adopted a senior from the shelter a year and a half ago. She was almost 12 years old when she passed away a couple weeks ago, but knowing I saved her from spending her golden years alone made every second I got with her even more priceless. I would definitely... and likely will... adopt another senior again. The amount of love they have to give is immeasurable.

Right?! Just gave me an idea for folks who get lots of grief walking their "scary-looking" dogs -- encourage them to carry a toy in their mouth like Zoltan! It's a shame there's still a lot of ignorance surrounding sweet-natured breeds whom humans have used for violence simply because they have powerful bodies, but I'm all for dressing them up and doing what we can do make them more approachable until the stigma's gone. Always check to make sure they're comfy, of course -- take up the toy if they need to pant and don't put them in anything that will make them get hot.

@@MrArchie800 Aww...you brought tears to my eyes too, but you are an exceptional person to have done what you have. Thank you for showing those horribly treated babies that not all people are horrible and that they CAN trust in someone. They are yours for life now. Although I've not gotten another dog for myself through my neighbor and friend her daughter's pitt has adopted me as her friend. It's funny because she doesn't like random people 🙄 lol. And I now live with my son and daughter in law. Although they don't have Pitts I do have the love of 2 ridiculously funny and loving dogs. The 1 makes me laugh everyday at some silly shenanigan he does, but I still miss the pitts. There is just something so special about them. I know exactly how you feel about losing them. Although I still mourn her everyday I finally let the love of these other dogs help heal my pain. Dogs are the best. If only humans could learn from them. I think you know exactly what I mean when I say that. Best of luck and again, thank you for what you have done and continue to do. There needs to be more people like you!!

@itzsykez any dog I repeat ANY DOG is capable of doing damage to a human or another animal It's Not Just Pits, but you don't hear about those stories you hear only about pits doing bad things, huskys ,german shepherds, boxers, have their own story of doing damage to another but those stories dont get blown up from the media cuz its not a pit, if it was then it be all over social media an all news channel.

itzsykez Bad owners. Fact. Or a rescued pittie that had a terrible owner and then went to another home with a bad attitude. My pit is as sweet as can be and likes people and other animals.

@itzsykez Well as far as I know the only time any of my relatives have been attacked by a dog was by a Cocker Spaniel. Bite in the face. Also from a loving home btw. So I guess I must conclude that THEY are the most aggressive breed. A.k.a your one experience doesn't prove anything. And talking about history... Just because they were bread with aggression in mind doesn't mean they'll be aggressive, especially if they're not taught to be like that from a young age. For a long time human natural selection also weeded out those who weren't strong and aggressive enough to win land, defend their tribes, etc. But look at how different people are now when that's not a necessity. Most people are afraid of physical confrontation. Some are afraid of any confrontation. And even if there is something of their breeding history left in them, that still doesn't mean you can judge them all the same. They still have different characteristics and personalities.

dogs are just like humans. You raise them with love and affection they will love you in return. You rule them with an iron fist and hard core beat them or discipline them you will get a completely different dog. Fostered a former fighting dog from the shelter. Came from a drug dealers house in Charlotte and he was about to be put down. Went to go see him and he was so scared and frightened. Not aggressive and Fostered him for a year and a half working and loving on him everyday. Slowly he trusted me and started to trust people again. Took me 6 months for me to pet him without him thinking I was there to harm him. Now he is in a home with kids that he loves and that is why don't judge a book by its cover and love and affection will go a long way with a dog! Adopt don't shop! save a life, Foster or adopt don't buy

That's great that you always rescue! I got my first dog last year so we decided to rescue one. We ended up getting a red nose pitbull. I gave him a chance because I was a little scared of pitbulls but then I immediately loved him and now pitbulls are my favorite kind of dog! So people need to give them a chance! ❤

I love pits they are my choice of dog. They are the most loyal gentle animals alive. You show them love and they will triple that. Thanks my pit was 4 yrs old and my grandson ruined him by walking him to the store all the time. One evening he went to the store by himself and someone hit and killed him. It has been 6 months and i still miss him. He was my gentle giant and my best friend. And he will always be missed!

I'm really impressed with his response to the boyfriend. He just bonded to the woman and a strange man walks down the stairs, standing above him, speaking in a low voice and his hood almost up. Zultan was unsure at first but not afraid. In two seconds he was on board with him. That was a really good sign.
