Really? That's really interesting to me, because this video actually was given to me by my teacher who wanted me to see what the dance looked like, because I had done an article Seminole Green Corn Ceremony in Florida. it's good to know that this wasn't necessarily a great depiction of what their ceremony might have looked like

    B. Wynn um, no. The Seminoles harbored run away slaves and intermarried with some of them. Afro-centrics use the pictures of the mixed seminoles to push the idea that Seminoles are black. In Florida you have the mixed Seminoles around Fort Drum, but the true bloods live further down South in Broward. Most of the mixed bloods don’t go to ceremonies or even speak their own language. You can tell who is a traditional Seminole by their scars.

Idk about Seminole traditions specifically, but I do know there are “social” stomps and I’m sure this is one. I assume it would be ok to video with permission at one of those, but I would defer to the Mekko.

@@BWynn-eb8qn My family is from here, in America, as far back as I am able to trace it. I am enrolled in the seminole tribe of Florida and I also have kiowa blood. If you can please explain to me how Black Americans pre date any group on this continent. As far as I know, humans have walked the earth for thousands of years, leading people to go all sorts of places, I wouldn't be surprised that there are black indigenous people in Australia, also, over thousands of years, features have changed. Out in the sun for long periods of time? boom darker skin. the indigenous people of the Americas though can be traced to asia as many may have eastern asiatic features, mainly the eyes. This is my take I would love if you could tell me yours.

The Seminole, which literally means runaway, consisted of African American slaves and the so-called red men whose people intermingled and intermarried when the slaves escaped to Florida which was still Indian land in the 1800s. They were black.

Derrick Culler No, they harbored them and intermarried with them. You’re thinking of the $5 Indians. They were whites that paid corrupt gov’t agents to be enrolled into the Cherokee, Choctaw, and Chickasaw Tribes. Those whites were the “natives” that owned slaves.
