The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. ...We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. -Edward Bernays

i believe that 60% of all advertising is waste of time how many ads do you see but your not going to respond or buy their product? like when men watch sports why do they run ads for women's products because a woman might be watching not that she is but she might be watching one research group says consumers respond to ads that are repeated over and over i say bull shit i buy a product that meets a need or something i like . offensive ads are like geico auto insurance or ads for prescription meds it used the ad for prilosec now its ozempic meds for diabetes this add is droned into my head every time i watch tv i hate that add i record my tv shows on the dvr then play back the recording so that i don't have to watch those damn adds if i could be standing in some corp office and scream at the person(s) that pays the bills for these adds it would make my day i am not a student i am a consumer who hates repetitive advertising i get dozens of subscription offers for magazines i don't want because they want to sell advertising the last thing i want to do is look at more ads then i do . keep this in mind if your going to advertise a product . who are trying to sell your product to ? and is the add working for you if not you need find out why offer coupons that seeks consumer feedback if you know what your customer wants you Tayler your adds to customer needs advertising agencies are greedy don't trust an add salesman to tell you the truth they want your business more than they care about moving your product to consumers trust your customer to give you the truth about what they want in your product

I don't have cable TV and I use an ad blocker here so I only watch the best Super Bowl or Europe's Best ads for example and only when I feel like it but I have to admit that on the creative side these people work very hard and I am often impressed by their brilliant ideas and irreverent sense of humour, the entertainment factor is vital, that's why I personally disagree with political and pharmaceutical ads, where's the fun? WAZZAAAAAA!

“But the goal of advertising is not to be liked, to entertain, or to win advertising awards; it is to sell products. The advertiser, if he is smart, doesn’t care whether people like his commercials or are entertained or amused by them. If they are, fine. But commercials are a means to an end, and the end is increased sales-and profits-for the advertiser.” “Humorous ads are troubling because you have to create a link to the product and its benefit. Often, people remember a funny ad but they don’t remember the product. -Richard Kirshenbaum, Co-Chairman, Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners” “Ads are not written to entertain. When they do, these entertainment seekers are little likely to be the people whom you want. This is one of the greatest advertising faults. Ad writers abandon their parts. They forget they are salesmen and try to be performers. Instead of sales, they seek applause. -Claude Hopkins, Scientific Advertising (Bell Publishing, 1920) ”

Dick Cavett's soothing, reasonable voice makes advertising a rather light-hearted affair. See Consuming Kids kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqeVl9SFfNKzk6Q.html or kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zmh9ldKGn9ipnrA.html for a far more realistic and sinister history of advertising.
