Well that is a challenging statement isn't it. People sometimes hold onto their problems and therefore pain, because it is safer than trying to problem solve...what if they fail, things could be worse, all kinds of reasoning, sometimes rational, sometimes not, keep people attached to their 'problem'.

I think, and i could be wrong, it may have been because tony wanted to skirt around the idea that he has no shoulders to cry on, that everyone looks to him for solidarity. It must be an incredibly hard position to be in. He is human after all. Again, i could be wrong, its just a gut feeling.

Tony never went to college, but has become extremely skilled and articulate. He also acknowledged Russell´s competence. Russell has become brilliant to quite a degree, but now is orienting himself as a highly progressive interviewer. It´s a good skill, and depending, may be a phase. When Russ gets more knowledgeable himself, HIS views will give him the credibility to be his own kind of expert. Noam Chomsky´s too old now, as is Ralph Nader, but he should hook up with Ecopsychologists like Chellis Glendinning or the like, and Political Economists like coop social economists like Gar Alperovitz, Richard Wolff, and Josh Farley (eco-econ), along with NGO leaders like Greenpeace, Oxfam, and so on. Right now, he´s indulging in celebs for the most part.

The way Russell looks so genuinely enthralled by conversations is something I admire about him. Some people try to downplay others or big themselves when someone goes on a monologue, but he allows himself to actually take in what someone is saying, that way he ges more out of a convo by throwing away any facades. Also tony is a great dude, he has a type of raw & refined magnetism toward motivational that boggles the mind.

A guy like tony robbins is very well aware of the energy he is sending out in this interview. And i'm sensing something that he is being physically very present on purpose. In a almost demanding way to influence the other (Russel) to listen to his story. 6-7 minutes straight he just go's on about his story. His story in wich in the end of the story, even though its also a lot about other people, it makes him look special. I think its more then just ''his energy'' and more is going on in the background. And tony Knows this, you can see how Russel in the beginning of the interview is leaning back. I can see how it makes Russel uncomfortable in his body language. I myself would be unvomcfortable with this as well. You don't need to LEAN IN with your whole body from out your chair into the others person face to.. make a point? You don't need that to make someone listen.. right? SO.....? Why? Why does he do that? I think its for a reason and its not just ''oh that just the way i am''. And think it has something to do with how i wants to grab a certain amount of attention. Maby i'm wrong, yup, could be. But my gut feeling say's something is off about his behaviour, and you know what, that gut feelings can often tell you a lot more then anything else. Like when you meet a narcissist for example, literally your gut feeling can tell you: Something not right about this person. But people ignore it. I don't ignore it anymore.

The reason why Tony seems too polarising is because his life consists of him speaking in front of thousands of people, keeping them engaged for days on end. It might seem a bit too much for 1 on 1 convo, but realize that this is a skill that takes years to cultivate. Whether you like him or not, you can't deny the man's outstanding abilities.

I agree, for the most part, but I tend to favor Jordan Peterson because he's a psychologist and researcher and most of his knowledge is based on clinical research , and statistical facts as a psychologist. on top of which I have a new rule, when it comes to following a type of guru in my real life or someone on KZread, on social media, like these types of people. I tend to want these "Guru's" to be in debates with someone who's opposing them to see how they do. You will see the person how they really are when they have opposing Force who's playing devil's advocate. This guy Tony, I've never seen him in a debate before with someone who opposes him or with a better point of view. Jordan Peterson has done verbal sparring with countless of people opposing him and has come out on top almost every single time if not EVERY single time completely. There are many like him (Tony), Russell brand and so many others (self-proclaimed gurus), many of them seems to make sense when it comes to betterment of self in relation to life but very few enter a very good debate with an opposing point of view. Jordan Peterson does this. I'm actually seen Russell Brand on a debate, and he didn't do very well. Guys like Russell Brand and Tony seem to only do well when they're on the stage with nobody opposing their point of view. I tend to avoid guys like this.

There are some who need someone exactly like Tony Robbins. Then there are others who need someone like Jordan Peterson, Russell Brand or even someone like Bashar. It really depends on who they resonate with. As Tony said, he is just one person who knows he can't do it alone and he does not intend to. It's easy to bash someone like Tony because he is very outspoken, kind of sounds funny, looks funny... but at the end of the day, he has a very big heart and wants to help every single person on the planet (if he could). So, for those of you passing judgement on him, firstly, try and think about why you want to express that negativity..and secondly, realize that he is just being the fullest expression of himself and all he is really doing is encouraging people to do the same. Not to be like him. To be themselves fully self-realized and enjoying in their full potential.

HAHA :') his energy and intention is more dominant and sure. As he said, he has built that momentum consciously. It is our job to train ourselves to be the super intentional thermostat, living each moment, with purpose. He has already prepaved how he is and what people are with him, so it generally is what plays out. When a person is in that level of certainty, others allow because the most dominant will/expectation, the most aligned etc, always wins out.

Both were keen to understand what each other is trying to say and did not hesitate to announce their need to clarify what they heard from each other. Many would say that Tony's energy is blinding. But the fact of the matter is so is Russell. Both their body language suggest that they were both receptive of what's being dished out and truly wanted clarity. It is beautiful.

I think it could be translated using a gentler approach, he seems to me like he is talking 'at' Russel, as though he is the superior one, which I think is congruent in his body language too, and coming off slightly aggressive. Certainly gave Russel a chance to be a little more humble anyway.

  • @plainpawesome

Great observations! I agree on the aggressive body language. I felt like TR was trying too hard to show dominance and portray an alpha male. This unfortunately shows me that he is the opposite since that's not what Russell Brand is about. Like bringing guns to see the Dali Lama.

interesting observation about RB, if you watch his body language in general he usually does a similar thing, but in a more charming way (passive aggressive perhaps) and in this interview in particular, you can see he starts off with a defensive stance; the way he is sitting in his chair demonstrating disinterest, and almost sucombes to TR, which seems to be a conscious choice, as he either wants to juxtapose TR or because there is no way he can overpower him, but the two are cut from a similar cloth I think, both think they are messengers from god!

Are you really saying Tony that no one is innocent therefore have no right to speak out, this the text book way that a perpetrator keeps victims silent, by trying to make them feel shame and responsible for the abuse. you also keep trying to state that you are not telling anybody what to think, and yet you are making statements from a realism approach, as though your statements are the 'truth', and using humiliation for those who don't agree. wow the way you use the audience, is very disturbing.... EqualRights ForAllBeings 2 minutes ago the way you are standing and speaking to her is dominating and your using the crowd to give you even more, not to mention the music?? also to say that you have women working for you, is like saying your not racist because you know people of different race, you could be treating those women unfairly for all we know, hence why you have more women than men working for you possibly..and this raise your hand and say I??? how cult like, so manipulative, trying to get people to obey so that they side with you and actually loose their own identity, classic obedience psych. A big hetro successful guy throws his hands around, has self discipline, compassion on everyone and practically yells with enthusiasm while speaking...is insane. Why? It sounds like you enjoy your little box judgement and ill conceived ideas. Robbins isn’t insane, he’s open to learning through experience, reading, practices and letting go. Good luck getting outta your way with such difficultly in accepting human goodness in this form.

@@nopaindottv1796 You need another person to motivate you, how pathetic. The genre of self help dupes about a billion dollars a year or more from losers who NEED someone else to tell them that they don't suck. By the way, 24 other people give me a thumbs up, so others feel the same way.

@@joestar6194isn't about "needing" .. it's about education (psychology, human behavior, etc) his well known clients are far from losers it's not about "i am a loser, i need tony robbins" .. it's about "ok, this guy makes sense .. and i am always trying to better myself/improve, regardless of where i'm at" this is the mindset of the minority, but the smart team to be on again. i encourage doubters to give him a listen with an open mind .. especially if you are unsatisfied with your current situation - be it relatively good or bad) take care

Yeah I'm surprised too. Everyone seems to be a psychologist now, hellbend on helping these 'poor' fellows. Meanwhile I'm like 'praise the lord for this wisdom flowing through'. These guys both come from such harsch places and they both trigger their origins in each other - the pain and the passion that came from it. People talk about being intimidated or feeling steamrolled. I'm seeing pain turned to passion - passionate truth. You can't sit back and breathe mindfully when discussing something so dear to your heart with Russel f*ckng Brand :-) I'm like: take what you like and leave the rest - but don't shit on what you don't understand.
