This would be great in emergency kits for extreme weather like hurricanes. I live in a very hurricane prone area. We have easy access to water, if we prepare like we are supposed to, but electricity is harder to come by if we get hit HARD by a big hurricane. These would be an easy hot meal when evacuating or getting to higher ground.

I love the fact that these are out now compared to years ago when it was just for MRE rations in the US army, the RAF here in the UK, Japan etc (I watch a lot of MRE ration food vlogs lol) and this is a way of taking food out to say picnics or if you go to soccer/football games (that's if they allow you lol) or if you go camping/fishing etc.

Speaking of MREs... For whatever reason, there is either an extra surplus of "lower sodium beef chili MREs" or the US government has issued them out to food banks for some reason... Our local food banks (places where food is donated to lower income or homeless people) have given my parents a few of these weird "MRE" packs. The thing that makes me think that they were issued for charities is that they're kinda wimpy for MREs. They come in a HUGE packet and have a 3 year shelf life. That's it. No self-heating, no single servings, etc... Just a HUGE (not plastic) family-sized packet of extremely cheap chili. There is some sort of U.S. seal of approval on them. So there's that. Nothing will ever beat the time the food bank gave us a bulk bag of dried out 100% textured soybean protein though... I managed to make "plant meat" out of it, but it's still funny to think about how the food bank got THAT of all things. Even funnier, it was a product aimed at vegans originally meant to be sold in stores.. I guess they just couldn't manage to sell that bag in time? 😂

I saw something like this in the anime movie called “Cowboy Bebop”. It was for instant noodle in a cup. There was a string attached almost to the base of the cup. The guy pulled the string and the noodle got instantly cooked. In the future, we might have something cooked as fast as pulling a string.
