Self-correcting Inverted Pendulum Defies Gravity
Ғылым және технология
In this video I show you how an inverted pendulum works. The physics behind the gravity defying pendulums requires complex equations, but has a simple explanation.

This episode was action packed. Love the expressions of your assistant!
The double pendulum glow paint (?) part at 4:32, combined with the music he switched to, made for a really cool segment.
Dude. I love you. This is just great. Also opening eyes through experiments like this gives me (a boring 30 yr old thinking these things all the time and now understanding way too late why I wondered what made me like certain teachers and some not. The creative ones who always put in a twist that blew our minds were without a doubt the ones most kids enjoyed and why most of my school liked chemistry. The teacher made miniexplosions and showed us a lot of experiments so that stuck with us. And through these creative ways of showing science I personally believe is the way to enhance the curiosity to push science forwards and think outside the box to bring something we can use in the future. Something we can’t even imagine yet. P.S. To anyone reading this I want to say: Stay curious! Find what you love and keep at it. If you have trouble finding what you love - try to remember what you love doing as a kid and/or still do that brought you the most joy. If you want to turn it into a business to make a living out of it = check out what businesses are built around the thing you love and do that. And if you want it just as a hobby - just do it! You’ll start to see more happy moments in 6 months. I promise. ❤️

Which is a good thing so we don't have to worry about the Dunning-Kruger Effect and falling into one of the above items.
My first thought was to shift the center of mass to the short end of the pendulum. That way, the long side goes up. The torque Idea is cool and fun, however it does require constant energy input. Alongside with other disadvantages like noise. This is a good introduction to torque. The background music is at an appropriate volume. Overall the video quality is great. Thank you very much for this video. Hope you keep posting more.
Interesting battle between gravity and inertia. I had a really great physics teacher in my senior h.s. class, and this guy reminds me of him. Mr. Rosenblum had a more laid-back personality, but he was very good with physical demonstrations that helped us students to understand some of the principles and forces in physics while also making it more fun.
As usual, this channel does basic but surprising physics things I've seen nowhere else. Show people the scene at 3:45, ask them to figure out what is going on. At 4:00 seems like a good sword invention. Somehow.

Even better: make a small parachute with a weight at the end of the shroud lines and hold it “upside down” (weight at the top, parachute dangling below) and release that in a vacuum. It should fall with the parachute part remaining at the bottom and the weight up top.
@somecsguy9824

@@UnbelievablyGauche Remember that acceleration is not dependent on weight (or, more correctly, mass). That's the whole point of the experiment of dropping something in a vacuum that is normally highly affected by air resistance (like a piece of paper or a feather).

Very brave of you, Mrs Action Lab.
Her reaction is so sweet haha. Funny and impressive experiment!
This was cool! Didn't think it would work for multiple lengths/weights/frequencies, I thought it would have to be perfectly timed,
This also works for continuously flexible assemblies, like bike brake cable outers, net curtain wire and some stuff ropes
This is the only channel that makes physics, a course I’ve chosen to replace with ap bio, interesting. I’m aware this is a superficial depiction of this topic that lacks in the equations/concepts associated with it; but, I guess this is what you have to do to hook our short attention spans.
i would suggest modulating the speed of the sawzall power tool with regard to the periodicity of the pendulum for most efficient torque.
Now we just jiggle a spacecraft, apply some assisted lift and we have a hybrid gravity propulsion vehicle HGPV. With the control center suspended by rubber band material to obsorb the shaking.
Very good example
This is cool. I never knew this reaction would happen
I think that Mrs. The Action Lab deserves a little more recognition in this video.
Excellent
At 1:50 I can see the gears turning on what his hands are supposed to be doing, but he nailed it. My brain would just shut down and get the movements 100% wrong
Have to learn more from him very good things he is teaching intrested
Easiest upward pendulum : Take a pendulum. Take its stand and put alot of weight on it. Drop it from the sky. The upper stick first wiggles and then stays straight.
The look on the lady’s face... 😂 Thank you both for the video 👍🏻
Thanks, I've wanted someone to do this for a long time. I once saw a bunch of straight rods connected by ball joints. Of course the thing collapses in on itself, but it stood upright once they vibrated it. You only have 1 joint but it's still the same principle. I actually asked you to do this ages ago but you can't read all the comments naturally.
Loved it!

Bro, but you can do this simply by using a bar/pendulum in which mass is non-uniformly distributed {i.e. center of mass should be at the side of bar from pivot point} ..... Then also stable equilized position would be towards upright.... By the way very nice video bro. Love from India....
I love your new concepts!! Love from Nepal.. Cheers Ok guys let's try one question. Suppose I have an ice floating in a beaker . But inside that ice there is an iron nail . So after melting that ice will the level of water in beaker. a) increases b) decreases c) remains same. Let's try this one.
