Thank you. The hard work you are putting yourself into is absolutely paying off. There is a constant stressed person in the other side of the world (Turkey) finding some peace with your nourishing voice and attitude.
Well put. I am learning about self compassion to cope with chronic pain, depression, and emotional stress. I need this.

Me too, me too. ❤
Would be great if it didn't have the commercial breaks.
I really like this meditation @christopher germer! But can you please take out the advertisement midst meditation? It is really disturbing and abrupt. And feels like a weird way to maybe make money in such a friendly and calming meditation. Will you please put it at the beginning or end (end is also kind of harsh) of the meditation? 🧘♀️ Thank you so much🎉
Dr, I had listened to this meditation so many times last year and I always find comfort in your words. I appreciate your work very much.
There are plenty of meditation of compassion and self-love, and im so grateful for finding yours. Thank you Dr. . This meditation literally save me so many times. May you be happy and healthy . May all the people around the world to be happy and healthy.
Choose a situation that's mildly to moderately difficult, he said. Perhaps a 3-4 on a scale of 1 to 10, he said.

Here i am with what feels like an 8-9 and now i do not know what to do with this moment hahahahaha
Thank you for the meditation. I agree with others; please change the ads to beginning and end. They are disruptive and detract from the practice.
Thanks. I lost a few friends over a series of arguments 2 months ago and the pain is still strong. This helps me get some closure.

I too have lost friends....moved away and become very lonely and isolated. We have to try seek the good in ourselves
Nice! I am planning to do this every moment when I feel stress

His voice sounds a bit like Robert Ashley: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g6R8zLmjfrayj84.html
Thank you. It is a part of self-growth
Thank you so much for sharing! That was beautiful. Really helped 😊
Several comments mention ads disrupting the video. It happened to me, too. It's very jarring - especially when the ad is louder in volume than the video. An ad startled me just a few minutes in. Another ad jarred me after 9 minutes. Ads in the midst of meditation/ other calming content disrupt the flow of positive energy. KZread can do better with ad placement. 🙏
Thank you! ❤️
Thank you, I felt really good after the meditation. I love u.
Thank you very much for your soft spoken voice and slow rythm....

The suddenly popped out ads towards the end is really scary!!😢
I love this. This really helps me in times of stress and anxiety.

So good. Thank you. Rae
This was fantastic, Dr. Germer! Thank you for making it available.
Great Meditation, and you have a perfect voice for this work. It was very helpful.
This was very powerful and resonated with me, thank you 🙏
An ad in the middle ?!
Thank you, I really needed this today. It's a wonderful guided meditation. I'm sure I'll be getting back to if often.
Ads in the middle are quite disruptive to the practice.

That's on Google and not on Germer. Maybe you should get google plus so you never get any ads. It's really worth it, so you do not get the nuisance of the advertising. Wish you all the best.
This is a very well put together video, but it ISN'T a meditation, because you aren't giving the viewer enough time to actually process each command before adding the next one. Several seconds isn't enough. In order to really focus on each phrase, thought, or idea, the person meditating needs at least 15-30 seconds of time to THINK. The format of the video creates a condition where the viewer is INGESTING information instead of PROCESSING it. If you could do the EXACT same thing, but try to be mindful of how long it actually takes to think about each topic, you would have a wonderful meditation.
I really enjoyed this. I just got two of your books and am looking forward to reading them!
I think KZread puts in the ads.
A good meditation, awfully placed adverts occurring during the meditation. Should be changed to before and after if really wanted. Not that anyone needs anymore silly things advertised to them

The problem I have with these is that when I'm asked to imagine what I'd say to a friend (around minute 9:00), I get terrified of saying the wrong thing, something that'll make it worse. Then when you go on to say that the words will resonate with the friend for the rest of the day it just raises the stakes and makes it harder to think of a good thing to say, and harder to deliver it in a warm / empathetic way because the fear of getting it wrong comes through. I have no faith in my ability to cheer up a friend in this way and when I hear you assume that everyone has this ability it just makes me feel more useless and isolated, and I end the video more upset than when I started it. What's the way out of this?

Email to ask Chris will be better for him to address your concern if you would like to ask him. He might not be able to see comments here. Here's my suggestion: it's okay, your good friend can feel your good intentions when you say the words to bring goodwill to him. Just say with your choice of words and your friend can tell. One way to make sure your friend hears you is to say that 'I might not choose words in a good way but I really just want you to feel better/feel safe/feel satisfied" Your friend will nod and receive your goodwill with warmth:) Your friend might also want a pad on their shoulders, your shoulder to lean on, or embrace with you. Ask your friend what is needed the most and give him that, wishing your friend feel better after this Or you might choose other practices to proceed first, and leave this behind. Only do what is most suitable to you and take your time.

My first instinct is to feel this way too! What helps me is when he says that your friend is in the *exact* same situation. Typically when comforting a friend I can't truly relate and so I find it difficult to say the right thing. In this example I *completely* relate (because the friend is really me) so I know what will be helpful. Of course, if this doesn't work for you, you don't need to come up with comforting words and instead can use what he suggests like "may I accept myself as I am" or similar.

The way I think about it- we may never fully understand or relate to someone and cheering them isn't always a goal. We can be present with them, open up to them, hold their hand (physically or metaphorically) to maybe make them calmer or more confident. For example saying "I will listen to you and try to understand", "this is very hard for you, but i will be here if something happens to support you", "your fears are understandable, but you can trust/ rely on me". We can give ourselves and others this same type of compassion.

You being present to listen to yourself/ others is a gift that can go long way, there is no need to be some magic councilor to help others feel better.

would it help imagining yourself as a kid instead of a friend? this usually works for me.
I lovedit...untill a random ad started playing... got me totally out of it
Life is definitely not a suffering. Such a negative belief.
Disgraceful having an ad blaring out in the middle of this meditation,
Omg, add in meditation practice should be illegal. Defeats the whole purpose. Ytube should ban this
I personally never liked the normalizing of suffering.

I have one thought for you: remember how you were before you stopped eating animals. We, who don't eat animals, tend to forget too easily that we weren't born vegan. Now go practice some self compassion
This is awful made me more stressed
ADVERTISEMENT in the middle of MEDITATION. NOT HELPFUL. at all. Just more aggravating.
And blasts in at ~3:00 totally ruined this. I was just starting to let my guard down when I got the shock of loud trumpets playing music in an ad. Not cool
Not a fan of the ad placement, blasting into the soft compassion space we're creating, at ~ 9:30 mins. 🫤 It sucks actually
