The way you’re talking about this series is the way I wish more people would see this series. I see so many “we already have the movie why is a series necessary” comments. It’s like NO! Why wouldn’t you wanna watch 9 hours worth of her life story. Even if you’re a fan who already knows the entire story. I could never get enough of Selena. Also a movie in general could never cover what this series is gonna cover. I’m really excited!

She is a legend. Jennifer Lopez did an amazing job as Selena. I will never for get seeing the movie at the big screen that the whole audience and of course me too was crying. My and my family saw her live in Houston is last performance. It was the biggest news on TV about what happened. I am go glad we are going to see more about her life story in a series. I can't wait.

What's wrong with Netflix spreading Selena to the WORLD. There'll be more people listening to her music, and continuing on her legacy. It sounds to me like you're gate keeping her, something Selena wouldn't like. This is exactly what Yolanda did. Shame on you.

They did a series a couple years back based on a book, but as far as I'm aware, the family DID NOT approve of it at all, while they approved of this one.

I just cried in every episode. Im a really great fan of Selena and her death still hurts me.

There is a series From Telemundo I think that went out like 2 years ago or so, called the secret of Selena but it was really awful, there wasn’t even their original Songs

It’s really sad that Salina was killed by her friend and fan club President. She was beautiful. Killed at a young age I really love her music

Not yet. The last I heard was that MGM was committed to a theatrical release in January 2021. But I think they should do a streaming release so everyone can see what will be a beautiful performance from Jennifer Hudson.

Actually the actress here with long hair in the shots on the stages reminds me more of JLo than Selena :) Not that i want a 100% resemblance, just a bit weird. I love the movie with Lopez and have seen it many times and also listened to Selena's music (even had Como La Flor intro as my morning alarm for a while, so it is ingrained in my mind :D). I wonder how much attention the childhood years will get in these series. I feel it still might focus more on her later performances. Which is still good.

I’d advise watching the Trailer of the Movie “Selena”. And then checking out some of her music.

Over a year ago, they had a Selena mini series on this Spanish channel called Telemundo on channel 52. Pretty good series. Now I can't watch this one because I have no money for Netflix

They did actually make a series after the movie in 2018 but it was disgusting. It was called selenas secret and it was shown protecting yolanda saldivar. Saying she was a lesbian and had a relationship with yolanda. And an affair with her plastic surgeon

J-lo may have had more of selenas body type and she did a good job acting like selena. But the producer didn't do a good job making the film good enough. Looks like the series is going to be way better than the movie.
