Wendy, and Dustin, I have three all-time favorite musical, in general. 1. Little Shop of Horrors 2. Oklahoma 3. Grease. I could watch those movies over and over again, and never get bored. :)

As someone who did see the show on Broadway, this looks like a spectacular adaptation. It's such a heartwarming story and also just very funny with great numbers. I hope we see more of Emma and Alyssa in the next trailer. Their relationship made me feel all the things.

Also Zazz as a musical number just has a special place in my heart. Nicole Kidman is gonna kill it. You're gonna love the dance numbers. They're insane. I believe they kept the choreographer from Broadway.

My favorite number from the musical is unruly heart and it’s time to dance ( The finale) . My favorite musicals are Evita , The prom, Chicago, phantom, hairspray, wicked , Rent grease and Rocky horror Picture show

Big pass .. I hate cordon

Really don’t like this. Not a huge fan of the fact that James Corden is playing a gay character in a show that’s central theme is about inequality for lgbtqai. As a gay man, I feel like this is super pandering. I saw the show on Broadway (had friends in the ensemble) and hated the show itself. Felt very pandering there as well. I feel like the show and movie version would have been more effective in the early 2000s. This feels like a revamped GLEE/HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL and I am not here for it. Give me more adaptations like THE BOYS IN THE BAND or A NORMAL HEART. I’m still waiting for a good movie adaptation of NEXT TO NORMAL and SPRING AWAKENING.

Isn't Mark Ruffalo straight? He played the gay male lead in A Normal Heart. And while that show was important in its depiction of the AIDS crisis and The Boys in the Band was important for.. a catty queen taking out all of his insecurities on his "friends"(?) then why can't The Prom be important too? Sure it's over the top, but that's completely intentional. In the end it's uplifting and in 2020 that's not a bad thing.

I completely get what you're saying, but I personally loved the show when I saw it on Broadway. I think that while musicals are very popular in the lgbtq+ community, there's a lack of representation of gay women there, and I love the fact that this musical has normal, teenaged girls as the central love story. It's really hard to prevent stunt casting and pandering in movie musicals, but I'm holding out hope that the movie itself will be more focused on DeBose and Pellman's plotline as well as the older, more "zazzy" characters from Broadway. Continuing on that note, while I can see that the teaser is quite flashy and star-studded, the musical itself has a lot of heart, and I (a teen lesbian theater lover) have never felt quite as represented as I did seeing that show. And before you say that Falsettos and Fun Home have better, more interesting lesbian plot lines, they focus mainly on how those women interact with the gay men in their lives. I am super psyched for this to come out because the music is wonderful and I can't wait to see whether Netflix will pull through with a good adaptation. Plus, the choreography is just stunning.
