I have a deep voice I can't sing like selena. Just take singing lessons. She obvisouly hasn't I can hear her breath like a dog between every line. She has a poor breathe support that's why she can sustain any notes.

Honestly, she could use a good vocal coach who could teach her vocal techniques and breath control. Many of her live performances are in a lower key for a reason. She has no range and they know it. Mostly she'll start off flat and then whisper talk sing into the lyrics. If she can showcase while sitting in the video that she can indeed belt more, she should try it in her actual performances and really sing from her diaphragm. I'm not a singer, but I have studied music. And she could develop her vocals more if singing is her chosen career

As a woman who also suffers with lupus I can tell you that it affects every aspect of your life. Yes it can cause panic attacks that could be the cause of her shaky voice and it affects your breathing a lot, sometimes I’ll just be sitting watching TV and I have to gasp for air.

JoJo Salinas yes however Michael and Toni was/is confident in their voices which contributes to singing better. If you’re constantly worrying about how your voice sounds. ToTheBack it’s actually not bs, I have a qualification in popular music vocals, and that’s one thing I learned through singing: anxiety can impact your voice, it can make you sing off key and it can make your voice more shaky and it will sound like you’re holding back, hence why it’s better to be calm and relaxed when singing and not to get anxious, it’s all about how you project yourself, some people have better control over it than others but that doesn’t take away from their vocal ability. So stop with your biased, uneducated point of view.

Her voice is sweet, unique, delicate and beautiful in it's own way.

My name for people like this is Situational Singers. In certain situations (i.e. at home, the studio, an intimate acoustic setting, etc.) they'll sound great... but when they're in front of hundreds or thousands of people and have to PROJECT is when they struggle. Her ex, The Weeknd, is similar in that regard. Fortunately, digital audio is at a great place to be able to aid these kinds of singers, as they've become more and more common. Not just Auto-Tune, but compression really brings up the quiet notes while limiting the louder ones. The other issue people don't tend to realize is there is a big difference between having a great voice and being a talented singer. The former is subjective, the latter is not. Just because you love someone's voice does not make them a great singer, and vice-versa. You may hate Bieber's voice (and him personally) but the boy can sing, just like you may love The Weeknd's voice (who doesn't?) yet he's not a specifically skilled vocalist. Just my two pennies.

She "can't sing" because her fellow peers such as Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato for a few examples are all absolute powerhouses and so by comparison..Selena is the weakest link. ((Fun fact: Gwen Stefani told that she wrote the song The Heart Wants What It Wants and Selena's team called her team and said Selena wants that one.))

She may not have a powerful voice but this works just fine. I love her voice.

I’m a singer, the thing is my vocal cords and my throat get easily infected and i have soother pneumonia sometimes. It affects my singing a lot, and when im healthy (which is ever) i can BELT and sing em high notes but when they are infected which is always, i need to sing soother so I won’t be in pain, i feel like it’s something selena might also have

I full heartedly disagree, you’re allowed to not prefer Selena’s voice since it’s unique but just cause you don’t like her singing voice it doesn’t mean she can’t sing

well not everybody can have IT ALL: She's beautiful and have catchy songs......That's the truth....

Shes very fortunate she has a naturally sweet voice

She did sound good on Ellen from the music to my heart part, until the end. All that she needs is great great great training. I think Demi Lovato would have been an exceptional teacher. Would have.

I have what we call powerhouse vocals. Pipes. I suck at singing softly like them. I try so hard to for certain tracks and man, it takes hundreds of takes for me. But when I can put muscle in it and project I’m in my zone. Let’s appreciate the diversity of different vocal styles not tear singers apart for not all sounding the same! Let Whitney Houston be Whitney Houston and Selena Gomez be Selena Gomez. I think her voice is soothing like a lullaby. Trust me you couldn’t sleep to my singing!

THE SECOND PART WAS PRETTY COOL, I HAVE TO SAY THAT SOMETIMES OR MOST OF THE TIME THE GREATEST VOCAL ABILITIES ARE SUFFICIENT TO TURN SOMEONE IN AN AMAZING ARTIST. AN ARTIST IS SOMEONE WHO IS ABLE TO CREATE SOMETHING REALLY UNIQUE WHICH IS ABLE TO SPREAD A MESSAGE OR A FEELING NOT ONLY MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE WITH IS INCREDIBLE VOICE AND NEVER CHANGE THE THINGS AT ALL. THE FIRST AND PARAMOUNT ROLE OF AN ARTIST IS TO CREATE NO MATTER THE DIFFICULTIES OF HIS WHAT HE IS STRONGLY BELIEVING IN AND THAT IS WHO SELENA GOMEZ IS. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE TIME, LOVE AND ENERGY YOU DEDICATE TO ALL OF US WE ARE ALL VERY GRATEFUL TO YOU. KEEP MOVING FORWARD AND IMPROVE THINGS IN THIS WORLD. A FRIEND AND AN ADMIRER.

Music is to each its on. I think she has enough fans that prove she can sing and she is also an amazing songwriter. She may not move you. But, she moves us.

selena can sing but shes not beyonce mariah whitney, do not compare her everyone..you cant define a singer for hitting a high note, its an art.... and besides she have so much struggles growing up..dealing with lupus, panic attacks, anxiety.. ive watched a video about 2 or 3 yrs ago..Selena struggles and afraid.in that video shes trying to rich a high note. but end up crying...watch some clip of her old live singing..she can sing and can reach a high note...but growing with so many critics i think selena gomez got traumatized..and afraid..everytime i see her singing..theres a part of her like shes afraid..not confident and even sometimes you can see her moves like shes doubting in her self.i really love her..thats why even she got so many critics that she cant sing..i still and forever will believe in her..beacuse shes just like us..a normal human dealing with weakness , lows and struggles.... and last but not the least.. a good hearted person is worth to stan for... 😍👸🏻
