people don’t always realize that learning two languages as a child is a gift, both my parents used spanish as a way to argue with eachother and never told us what things meant. As an adult now i regret not being able to connect w my culture as much but learning more about selena is pushing me so much to learn because she’s such an inspiration :( i hope to be able to fluent eventually in speaking so i can communicate better w my older family and my bfs family too. it’s hard speaking when i’m always fearing something coming out wrong but i just have to keep reminding myself not everyone has the same journey and it takes time

I was in high school when she died. I remember hearing her music on the radio & then hearing about what happened. But as I got older I started really learning about everything that happened, it’s to me beyond sad. Totally senseless & uncalled for. To be respectful I’ll just say forget you yolanda 4ever!! The lyrics are heart breaking, trust me. Basically, her boyfriend found someone else and left her. "Like a flower we had so much love but it withered away..." She's being the bigger person and because she loves him, she hopes he is happy with her.

Everytime I hear this, it makes me cry. Her voice is so beautiful! Selena had one of the most beautiful singing voices ever, up there with Whitney and Mariah.

I’m not Latina but I still love her and her music and she is my idol and a very good role model it’s so sad she was taken so early in her life I know for a fact she would do so many more amazing things in life

me and my grandparents used to sing como la flor every single day after I got out of school, so many smiles and giggles. it makes me tear up coz now I barely listen to Selena:/. I am a 14 year old Mexican American female. Born in Corpus Christi Texas. I am the great cousin of Selena. And I live right down the street from her old house. met her dad and sister. I saw one of Selena's necklaces, it was a silver necklace that had some sort of jem on it, I was seriously mesmerized. And I was so surprised when Susette told me that I could keep it. And I never take it off now

I’m black but this Spanish song speaks to my heart ❤️. I like her other songs but it’s something about this song that gets to me ❤️💙🎤🎼🌹

dont worry selena did not speak spanish very well and only knew how to sing it it cuz she was tex mex... lol its no biggy half of us tejanos cant speak a damn word of spanish and only know how to sing in it cuz we grew up with our grandmothers listening to tejano music lol

Well idkk bc this girl said that she went to hell god took her to hell for 20 minutes and god said do you see the girl with flames and she said yea He said that’s Selena the famous Mexican American singer and they got closer and Selena said MY LORD PLS TAKE ME OUT OF THIS PLACE!!! I actually remember returning back from high school the day she was killed, and one of my aunts was very sad just listening to this song. She was cleaning the house and I saw her just on the corner of the kitchen like reflecting holding the box of the cassette recording of this album. I asked her what was wrong, she told me what happened so I just hugged her and we listened to the full album, both sides while she was telling me about how Selena danced on her concerts and how "clean" her music was. Unfortunately, my aunt nowadays has schizophrenia and her mind is lost, doesn't talk much at all and doesn't react to Selena's music anymore. Still it's a great memory of me and her enjoying Selena's music, shame that it was on a somber day for the artist.

This song takes me back to days when we use to do the "washing machine" in the middle of the street to this music.

My sister and I were in the same Spanish class my last year of high school. The class was super laid back and we watched the movie Selena between two days. We became obsessed and love all her songs, particularly this one! We even borrowed the movie from the teacher so we could watch it at home.

We played this song at my aunts funeral and she was the sweetest angel and she was special ed

Sang this in high school for dia de los muertos ❤ in 2018 using this video on a big screen for the school🙏🏼 so beautiful had dancer girls in Jalisco ribbon dresses turning when como la flor was sang. Make a Memory in life! Not a regret. I had family tell me don't do it because I might be bullied , I didn't let it stop me.. I had people coming up to me after giving me hugs and congrats , strangers at my school ❤ what a moment ..also a butterfly 🦋 came and hit me on the nose.. I took it as a thank you , much love r.i.p beautiful souls 💟, it was an honor to do this for Selena, gave me confidence even tho i don't speak Spanish much , I'll continue to sing it ♥️♥️♥️♥️
