Lol Davdo done butchered Afrobeats history, but we love oga sha. FELA is the origination of what we consider Afrobeats, present-day contemporary popular music from Nigeria, full stop. FELA originated and formally named his style "Afrobeat" (different from traditional Juju, Jazz, High-life etc.). In more recent times, a more popular, vibey variation of what FELA originated was pushed by the likes of D'Banj and P-Square and was named "Afrobeats" (with an "s"). King Sunny Ade is not Afrobeat/s, Onyeka Onwenu is not Afrobeat/s, Brenda Fassie is most certainly not Afrobeat/s, she's not even Nigerian/West African.

I love Davido so much, but i think he really needs to avail himself of the facts about the true origin of Afrobeats. It all started with Fela. Afrobeat (s) is a Nigerian thing. Any other narrative is being disingenuous.
