Something I want to add for other people, the Save Crystal does NOT affect your RNG placement. For example, if your sequence goes "88 -> [Save Crystal] -> 97 -> 90", the chest will still spawn as if you never touched the crystal. I initially believed the HP/MP refill would affect it, and haven't seen a video that proved otherwise, so I gambled on it during my attempts and still got the chest spawn/Seitengrat. Also, there is a tiny but significant bit of leeway for when you can grab the chest. In this video his timing was so on point that he opened it just as he started to turn after the fourth time, but my attempts were just slightly later yet still successful. I wouldn't push it too far though, just to be safe.

Awesome, worked perfectly! 1 thing for anyone having any trouble (getting 10 gil) - When you go up to the invisible chest and turn the camera to see the guy by the railing, that's already been 1 of the 4 of the NPC going up the stairs, so after that count 3 not 4. I was counting 4 after turning the camera around but that would actually be 5. Anyway, thanks LetsGetPitted (also great username haha) "just ride the barrel and get pitted, sooo pitted like THAT."

A big thank you for this method. Tried the stopwatch method for God knows how long, and it just wouldn't work. Followed your tutorial and got a bow each time with 100% succes. I'm amazed at how you figure this out. Keep up the good work :D

Thanks, this way worked every time for me, after messing around for about 2 hours with the other methods. I should mention i had a guest, Larsa, in my party when i got these chests, so you can have a guest and get it.

I'm not someone who comment on KZread videos, and, as many, was skeptic about this method (you know "100% guaranteed Seitengrat blah blah blah)… tried a few of them but nothing prove useful, however I must admit that a couple chests spawned with 10 miserable gil… found your method but was a bit on the edge (another "guaranteed" I think to myself), made a little research and stumbled upon a Reddit post about the RNG and how could it be manipulated and, at the end, an edit with a link to your tutorial… I must say this left me speechless, one try, ONE FREAKING TRY, the only "difficult" part was getting the numbers and it was less than five minutes, my heart pumped when I saw them (still a bit in denial) but as I followed your instructions, voilà, the elusive Seitengrat… dude, you rock, hours and hours trying to get the goddamn bow, and in the space of half an hour (starting new game, making Vaan auto save, casting the correct numbers) your method prove itself true and reliable… many, many thanks.

I had only read the wiki description and was trying to get the 3 cure values for over two hours before I gave up. The next day (today) I noticed your video and watched it, I realised I hadn’t gone to the next area and gone back to the save point so there were no npcs. After attempting the zone method, 32 steps and 20 secs methods, I tried this one today. Worked first time! And it was on version 1.02, meaning they didn't patch it out! Thank you so much LGP!!

Just did this for the first few times today myself, also after trying the others methods with no luck at all. They still haven't patched it and 1.06 was released today as well, so I doubt they will.

I got it! My reks started with 42mp so i didn't know if that affected the rng. It took me 3 tries with redoing the spam cures. I had a good feeling about the last one because right off the bat I got the 88, 97, 90. Thanks pitted! I watch your speedruns all the time on twitch and I was glad you were able to help us out with this

I've gotta say that I tried the waiting 20 seconds with a stopwatch and got it just one time but I followed the instructions of this video to a T and I've gotten 3 of the bow in a row. Thank you so much, this method is the real deal.

@André_Durán nah. Once you see the appropriate numbers pop up on screen as Reks you have all the time you need to quit back to the main menu and load up your main playthrough.

Had to comment, this trick worked like a charm. Tried the "20 second" trick alot of times with no luck, this worked on first try. For anyone wondering I had Reddas as a companion and it still works. Took a few minutes to get the sequence but not more then 3-5 I think. I read somewhere that you can look for other sequences as well.

Updating after some months. I got the bow with this tutorial. I have a ps4 Pro 1tb. First i got the bow with Reks combo 88, 97, 90 and the guy on stairs, as the above video said. Later i decided to get another 2 bows but i was never getting this same sequence again. I decided to click the first link in description to find out there was another Reks healing sequence, 97,94,95 (with the kid running thingy as the video mentioned) and also a 88, 94, 92, 92, 96 sequence (2nd link). I got the 2nd seitengrat with the 88, 94, 92,92, 96 and my 3rd bow with the 97, 84, 95 sequence. Thank a lot for these tips! It saved me a lot of time (i was trying the stopwatch mode but without success).

Ok did mine Sept 2, 2019 got 6 of them. It took about an hour or so this is the best video ever. You are the man. Did it and explained it perfect. Gave me the edge for the game. I love the story im about half way this was a great help. Also im on the ps4 pro. Did take a bit for the rng to kick in.

I've just recently bought the remaster on PS4. I came across this video and I was worried that it was patched, but i got it on my first try. Very well done, Sir!

After the headache I acquired stealing Great Trango from Zodiark and wanting to get this bow as well, I decided to give this method a try, as the other methods seem to fail constantly. Got all 6 needed within a half hour, and it still works after updating to 1.06 today. Great job with this tutorial man.

You my friend are an absolute legend! I done all the other methods and yes luckily managed to get 2 bows from trying them but I'm sure they were more luck than anything else. Worked like a charm on a standard 1TB PS4, thanks a lot dude! Struggled a bit getting the right RNG sequence with Reks so what I did was exit out onto the Title Screen, close the game and launch it again to reset the RNG. Then I loaded the Reks game again and before casting my first Cure, I made sure to set all of my Battle settings to be the same as Pitted's. Then, I started casting Cures and got the coveted 88, 97, 90 after a minute or so! Great job dude, really appreciate this.

Okay this saved me hours of my college life and grief. I know I didn't have to get the bow, but once I found out about it I just couldn't progress until I got it. Honestly with how easy this method was I might get two more just for the hell of it. Thank you so much.

Still working as of 1/14/18. If you cant get the cure numbers to appear then try closing your application all the way and restarting the process. Also make sure you're opening the chest when the dude's foot is flat on the final step. A split second sooner and you'll receive 10 gill.

Pitted, you are my hero. Using faulty RNG and NPC positioning methods in PS2 Emulator version for hours and hours just to get my First Seitengrat and you've gifted me with a 10 minute fix and farm. There are Gods among us. Now I can play this game in a fun and leisurely fashion using Good old Memebow.

Thanks a ton. This is the only method that got the chest to spawn reliably. Trying to follow the 32 steps method (sounds like I'm kicking a bad habit) I've only found the chest once. Your method got the chest to spawn six out of six tries. One hundred per cent reliable, as far as I'm concerned.

I think they may have changed the RNG as I have been trying for over an hour an a half but 88,97,90 does not come out concurrently, maybe I'm doing something wrong but I followed the guide and it's just not happening :(

my magic numbers were at casts #43, 44 & 45. Worked like a charm (after twice opening the chest a bit too early). But after figuring out the timing it was always a Seitengrad. Thanks mate.

I messed around with the 32-step and 7-zone methods for about an hour before getting frustrated... not sure why those are so popular and why I had a hard time finding your method, but it worked for me on my first try and I was able to replicate it immediately after 2 more times! So thanks so much for figuring this out / making a video! This should definitely be the method everyone is sharing, not the other ones that, like you said, are totally not "100%" at all.... :/ For anyone having trouble, I pretty much followed his video exactly: I didn't kill anything extra as Reks, so while I'm not sure if it matters, even my exp was the same (217 to next level), and had all my settings the same as his, which I changed BEFORE saving (since some other comments mentioned doing it after loading your save may have an effect). My Reks' max HP and MP were slightly different, but it didn't seem to effect this. In all three attempts, I got the 88-97-80 with less than 15 cures. I have a PS4 Slim (not pro). I did this early in the game before I had even gone to Bhujerba, so your progress in the story doesn't have anything to do with it.

Does the Diamond Armlet have to be on Vaan? I'm getting the sequence and all I'm getting from the chest is 10 Gil or knots of rust. I believe I'm counting the NPC walking up the stairs correctly.

I know that this video it's 1 year old, but I just got the game and I'm still trying, I heard that the first models of PS4 can get different numbers? From the all 3 sets of numbers, I always get the first 2 numbers, but never the third one correctly

Can confirm this works. I have 3. 2 with this combination and then the original numbers suddenly came up and that worked too! You are a legend sir. (Ah I'm commenting on the alternative method in the description. 3 different numbers and the child instead. Though once this method worked too)

THIS WORKED ON MY FIRST AND SECOND TRY, 1.05 patch, 88-97-90, MUCH better than the other methods. Oh and just in case anyone has the same, i had Rek's max HP at 135 and max MP at 42. Still worked anyway. THANK YOU SO MUCH !

Just tested this method (took about 20 mins with the whole setup). It still works, even in the german version, the same way

I tried for over an hour and only got the correct number sequence once and messed up the timing in the airship file so got 10 gil. I did some research and someone noted that the settings on the Reks file impacted this so I too his advice and in config set battle to active , cursor position yo last selection and battle speed to 4x. Ensured I hit L1 to go into 4x speed and started casting cure. The number sequences came up very quickly and soon I was mowing down Hecteyes with impunity. Thanks!

Thanks to your method i was able to get a Seitengrat today. My only problem has to do with farming more Seitengrat. After the first one, the invisible treasure only gives me 10 gil. But having one is better than having none! Thanks!

One Thing I would like to note. whenever you get to the Step of Reks Number manipulating, it's imperative that if you didn't set up preference config settings (i.e Active time, max speed, and last selection for Cusor memory) that you set it up before casting your first Cure. In my experience using this method, I casted a first cure, then set it up for convenience and it made me roll 88-96-91 and I coulnd't get the 88-97-90. Figuring I did something wrong I reclosed the application to reset RNG again and this time I reloaded my reks file, Changed my config settings to convenience preference and then as i started rolling Cure numbers I got it at about the same time as Pitted got his. And I got my seitengrat after as well.

Also, I tried this method after reaching balfonheim section of the game so don't think you have to be the same exact level or the same exact position as Pitted, just have your main file at a rabanastre/west gate spawn location, Make your reks file for manipulation, bored nalbina airship and create airdeck autosave with Vaan as a single party member and diamond armlet equipped, Begin your RNG manipulation and enjoy your seitengrat.

At first I got 10 GIL, I screwed up.. Then I did it again and it worked!! whoever discovered this is truly a genius!

this is a perfect tutorial. Just got 4 Seitengrat in like 15 minutes, on the PS4 version. I really like to think this is some kind of Reks messing with the multiverse lol

Took me a good bit of cures to get the RNG right, but this method is the only "guaranteed" method i've tried that has actually worked 100%

This is the only method that worked for me. I tried all the others (20 seconds, 30 seconds plus zoning up to 7 times, 32 steps) and only the zoning one ever spawned the chest, but the chest was always 10 gil even when opening it on the kid's 4th trip back to his parent. I wasted my entire morning and early afternoon on these methods. Tried the Reks cure method and BAM! 6 Seitengrats in under 20 minutes. :-D

Tried following the wiki instructions. They left out the timing part. Watching for the walking guy, I got it 3 times in a row. Awesome.

Works 100% as claimed. Also, it doesn't matter who is in the party, what they have equipped - even if it has regen on it (regen definitely affects RNG in normal combat area), and you can run it all in turbo mode though I would advocate turning turbo off once guy is getting ready to head back upstairs for the 4th time. I had 3 characters in my group of 6 who all had regen on plus another with the Ring of Renewal. I put Diamond Armlet on Vaan and then put two other characters in the party with him. Oh yeah, I also have Reddas too. Still worked fine.

Thanks for this video! I got lucky with the Zodiac Spear and then wiped to the boss and lost the spear. Having the bow makes up for it.
