I think overall it’s an improvement but I much prefer the sunray grey dial and brushed bezel of the 143. I’m also not a fan of the “3 days” it’s so unnecessary.

I love this song! The watch is nice too 🤘

I love my first edition SPB143.. bought it right at release in Japan. I do wish they made it in the black dial instead of the brush black/gray dial.. still like it though..

@@sawgrass3256 I have the JDM version, the SBDC 101. The grey dial and brushed bezel looks way better than the new one. Also, the new model is smaller which I don't like.

Correction the SPB143J1 is 40.5mm but who can tell the diff of a half a millimeter?

@@SeikoLeaks yes , but that one doesn’t have ceramic insert either. Spb453 is almost perfect price wise as well. I want to wait a bit and see before I pull the trigger.

143 stays winner 453 has no sunburst dial

In value price point and dedication they produce more options with quality time pieces for any buyer and I actually have no beef with the brand at all. I’ve dreamed of owning the 143 for ages. Quartz solar please I require accurate timekeeping. The 6R movements are sub par. Nice watch aesthetically though.

Don't like the date.

Small improvements but still marginal bracelet and horrible clasp, new movement but still subpar accuracy all for $100 more?? Is it worth it?? I like the blue though

finishing on this watch is better than the previous model, inflation has pushed the prices up substantially across the manufacturing world. $100 extra for a prospex with better finishing I think it's a good watch, but even better watch with a 25-40% discount 👍 always ask for a discount after a few months of release

@@SeikoLeaks I agree the $100 more isn’t much compared to other brand’s increases. For a $1300 watch, you should get a better bracelet with on the fly adjust and a proper dive extension and a movement with better stated rates. Granted I get better than stated with my 143. Just seems like such small tweaks just to say “it’s different” and give it a different model #. If they’re going to change it, change it and I’ll buy another!

@@dukes70 agreed, the bracelets are indeed lacking a overhaul and on the fly adjustment is needed. I have a sbbn031 and that ratcheting clasp is awesome. Love the bracelet and noticed the new sbbn tunas don’t come with a bracelet anymore. They’ve reserved it for the high end watches which I think is not fair, at the very least do something like tool-less adjustment of other microbrands etc. currently to buy the bracelet alone on eBay it’s around 300USD which is nuts but they are not many around.

Honest opinion: nice design in its own right, but seems to have lost its 62MAS soul. Nothing like the original 62MAS imho..

@@SeikoLeaks the current/old SPB seems to have heritage…inherited some of the original’s soul…this one…just seems like its own watch. Not a knock on this new one. Just saying its stands on its own.

@@SeikoLeaks yes, i hear you. They seem to be refreshing and standarding the new design elements gradually. Their new bezel insert designs are a good example. New design bezel insert has been gradually pushed on all new models. One dot for every minute, no longer numerals getting in the way. The 4.30 date window seems like it will take over Prospex line at least too.

personally i think it's better than 143, but price is like twice of 143 era now?

I do find it funny how people make comments about price like this without even checking what the price of the previous model was. KZread has brainwashed so many people now that they just assume every 2 years Seiko doubles prices and misaligned bezels by an extra half click😂

@@pk1342 Definitely. I’m not a blind Seiko fanboy, but I have bought 4 Prospex models in the last 5 years and haven’t had any issues with QC. I don’t think the prices are that ludicrous either considering the commensurate increase in finishing.

@@ProfessorPesca exactly. Seiko should probably be offering more in terms of accuracy tolerances in the spb range but on every other front they are competitive for the price and when it comes to dials and finishing more often better bang for buck than most.

the 143 without the lume plot at 3 is good but personally I love the hour marker symmetry of the new watches. I rarely use the date wheel and love the symmetry design choice
