This watch was one of my grail watches. I managed to find a NoS example back in 21. The bracelet was a little tight on my wrist so I swapped the original folding clasp for a generic one off ebay which was about 5mm longer. I must say the watch also looks great on a black Geckota Handmade Premium Italian Leather strap. Because of the design of the watch there is no unsightly gap between the strap and the case. The Geckota rally straps are fantastic straps as well.

Put me in the ‘love it, but not the price’ camp.

I wouldn't buy any seiko over 400dls with that horrible x on the dial it just makes the watch look cheap They can put that logo on the back case. I can live with it there but not on the dial As a matter of fact, I stopped wearing my turtle and MM200 because of that darn X

Looks amazing, love the size and details. But I've had terrible experiences with 6R movements, which cannot be judged out of the box. Still this would be tempting if not for the price. Great video, love the channel.

On the spot. Seiko keeps raising the prices for 6R watches without making any QC improvements.

For that price I think it should have included the 6R64 (the true GMT version of the 6R54).

I agree, but it's already too expensive. As Russell points out, this would jack the price up further. It looks great but... I will keep holding out for a Miyota 9075 powered microbrand to screatch true GMT itch! Haven't quute found the right combination of price and availability with a date complication.

Great review and lovely looking watch👍. As you have already said the price maybe be an issue for many me included. It does make me wonder that if Seiko does reissue the Pogue, what price point will they place that at? This or a more reasonable price range like the SRPK17K1? I fear the former 🙄.

Another mega show MWC! This is a really well done reissue from Seiko but I think that price is a bit too high for anyone but the most die hard Seiko enthusiasts to consider. I think the Alpinist GMT still sits atop the pile of Seiko releases in 2023 but this is a very nice reissue for sure!

Afternoon Russell, I am so amazed you are reviewing this watch. I have been looking at a Black Bay Pro or something very similar, all stainless inc bezel. So I've been looking at alternives Googling away and this came up and I just loved it. It has everything that historical nod, great strap, dims are good and the case shape and dial colour are fabulous. So I am pleased you’ve handled it and positively reviewed it. That friction only bezel I wouldn't have known that, do you think it will move about with general wear? I think youve just cost me 1500 quid.

I was sooo close, I was guessing $1,700.00 with the exchange rate I was close. That bracelet and the face dial, just perfect.

A good $1000 watch and under is exactly where they should be, in my opinion. Grand Seiko should not be compromised by their basic models even if it carries an X.

Nice review man! I LOVE the bracelet, and the size is perfect, but I really don't like the tonneau shape, 19mm lugs and PRICE!! I'd go for the Aplinist any day.

MWC, great watch and review. I just think you missed the section house of pagani, because the caseback is completely a throe back to the quintessential ones from back in the 60's and early 70's. Shame that it's so high priced.

My 1969 Omega Seamaster 120 has a 19mm strap. I became rather adept at trimming 20mm straps to fit with a razor blade. 20mm NATO straps would often be fine without modification.

It all depends on the movement. If they go with a mecha quartz probably around that 1000 dollar mark give or take a few hundred. If the they go with an auto your looking at 2000 plus. This is assuming it's not a limited edition.

​​​@@bassplayer2011ifyThe Pogue should be an automatic movement like the original. If not they can keep it. Most that want a Pogue reissue want a faithful recreation. Not a half ass one. The Pogue is such an important piece of Seiko history. So it should get the treatment it deserves

I also love it, but before you even revealed the price, as soon as you said 'limited and 6R', I said, "well its going to be at least $1,200" Which at least for me I just cannot reconcile for this. I love it, but just not $1,500 worth of love. All Seikos end up on the secondary market after a bit so I think I will wait for that.

I quite like it. It's definitely a nice watch, though for some reason it looks a little large on you. It could just be the style though (Prospex, etc). I'm not a Seiko fan and these are going for $2500 AUD (I'm in Australia) and I would never pay that much for a Seiko. I'm not sure about the 6R movement either...seems to be a lot of complaints about it. Anyway, the price is Longines territory and I'm looking for a new Hydroconquest. :)

Would be cool if Seiko re released the first watch they made.

The price is absurd when you can get a lightly used Grand Seiko SBGN003 that pays its own respect to the Navigator Timer for not much more.
